Couch Surfing (stay anywhere in the world for free) (3min)

calmebob says...

I've been using couchsurfing.com for over 3 years now - hosting more than surfing. This video really hits the point home that the real benefit isn't the free place to stay, but the access to locals who become immediate friends and often tour guides. You get introduced to local flavor that is damn near impossible to come by when staying in a hotel. Couchsurfing has changed my life. And I don't use that phrase flippantly.

As it gets more main stream recognition I wonder how the site will change. Surely we'll get a lot of free loaders who don't appreciate the spirit of the community. I wonder if the network of trust built into the profiles will hold up.

^ I agree - that's why we need to meet the stellar community as worthy partners. - To do this we need to embrace Transhumanism. We're not evolving anymore - so we have to pull our species up on our own. Eugenics, genetic modification or computer augmentation.

Human beings need to be the boot loader for a much, much larger intelligence. We're barely sentient.

Bank Machine Robbery - Prague

ATM's have been around for about 35 years...you're not the first person to think you can just smash it and take all the money inside like a piñata for grown-ups.

Usually if one gets smashed, it's because they used a truck or front-end loader. Your little toyota with a fiberglass bumper isn't going to cut it.

forgot the old load-bar or strap to secure the load, amateurs

More like, driver forgot to take his alzheimer's medicine.

The driver has nothing to do with this, fyi. Many Semi doors open horizontally, not vertically, so they have to be driven out from the dock to be closed. It's always the loaders' responsibility to secure the load.

Since when? First rule of hauling any load: Never trust anyone else to secure your load.

My question is why wasn't there a truck restraint on that dock. The trailer shouldn't have been able to pull out if the restraint was properly secured.

Here's the normal sequence, for anyone who's never loaded a semi or straight truck with product:

1. Trailer is backed in, locked or chocked.
2. Trailer is loaded
3. LOAD IS SECURED
4. Trailer is unlocked/unchocked
5. Driver pulls out anywhere from 5-20 feet, gets out, and checks load/closes doors/tags door/etc..
6. Driver drives away, and at the first left turn, product shifts, causing damage (I kid, I kid)
7. Product arrives at destination, customer promptly calls product company to report damage

Notice how number 3 is BEFORE number 5? Doesn't matter how much of a moron the driver is, it's the responsibility of the loader to secure the load each and every time, period, no matter what the product is. If they don't, well, this video shows it.

WATCH FEMA & Local COPS VIOLATE OUR 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHTS!

I cannot make this point any clearer with out using profanity. Avert your eyes, profanity in use

She should have shot the officers. The have no gotdamned right to do that, especially if their is no threat to any one!

No ammo, I can guarantee that they could have apprehended her with out fight, and don't give me that "She could have loaded the gun,". She didn't even have a speed loader, those officers should feel lucky they made it out alive.

Try that shit in Texas I dare them. Uncalled for, and no you cant have my gun.

Officer "Relax mam, I don't want to have to hurt you." - This is after they beat the crap out of her. Whos rights did these pricks take an oath for?

Personally if she wanted to stay there, let her. Its her fault if she gets caught in the weather.

This was about something else. If I am an officer I would not risk my life to arrest a person like this, I would tell my bosses to .. you get the point.

Epic win for the constitution that day. Epic win all around.

Paper, Ideas are only as strong as those who fight and die for them.

Scientists Hide Vaccine/Autism this is unbelievable

I'm definitely not arguing that vaccines haven't saved many, many lives - but I would posit that a better understanding of how infectious diseases transmitted helped too. Quarantine, hygiene - better health and diet in the 20th century all had a role to play.
I understand the "free-loader" dilemma too, and recongnise that it was selfish choice.

I would posit that decisions regarding your own child's welfare are rarely selfish. Parental instincts are to forgo that remote chance of adverse reaction. Parents can't help that, can we?
