Imagine If Conservatives Cared About Insurrection Emails

newtboy says...

Sweet Zombie Jesus….the secret service emails were recovered and published yesterday, and they prove the secret service was well aware of credible death threats to Pelosi and Pence at the capitol on January 6 by Jan 4 at the latest (posted Dec 31)…and did not share that information with capitol police, Pelosi, or Pence until 5 hours into the coup….after trying to force Pence into Trump’s limo with only Trump’s SS security.

Yes, it’s now undeniable that the SS was absolutely part of the coup, hid their knowledge of the upcoming attack, hid their involvement by erasing all communications, and absolutely didn’t do their job….in fact it seems a hit squad of SS tried to kidnap Pence (and hand him to the crowd for lynching) but he knew Trump’s SS wasn’t going to protect him and he fled from them.

Every bit of information we get makes things so much worse. Now, the entire SS needs to be fired, for cause with no benefits no pension and a ban from working as law enforcement, and an entire new force Hired. Talk about deep state.

Remember, republicans have started to claim the “deep state is going to assassinate Trump”….and every accusation is a confession. The “red deep state”, which is undeniably real unlike the blue “deep state”, just might try another coup, starting with assassinations at the top.

2 more Trump officials have corroborated the limo story (not that it’s about anything besides character) and verified that Ornato is a well known liar that has repeatedly made public statements for Trump’s benefit that were complete fabrications made to hide the truth about Trump’s actions or orders. That’s 3 officials and all but 2 of the secret service.

No, throwing a tantrum and grabbing for the wheel isn’t something he’ll be charged with, but like any court, it goes to credibility, and destroys Trump’s, and his lackeys, meaning they won’t be able to give any legal defenses because anything they say is suspect and should be discarded by the courts. They should have just kept quiet until the actual trial.

I would bet that’s why you won’t see them try to force them to testify despite their “offer”. They wouldn’t have any testimony to give beyond lies and pleading the fifth, like nearly every other Trumpist.

Ruh roe, Sarah Mathews, deputy press secretary that quit on Jan 6 in disgust, scheduled to testify publicly July 12. Don’t miss it, or you won’t know why you’re trying to discredit her on the 13th. I’m sure, suddenly, she’ll become someone Trump barely knew, a never trumper, a closet liberal, who is only making up more lies to stop “hands so teeny Mousolini” from running in 24, like the dozens of other administration officials that testified.

Trump didn't do anything wrong

newtboy says...

Lol. Such ignorant delusional cultists you are. When given proof of A,B,C - X, Y, Z…to paraphrase your answer…” None of that matters, Trump is perfect and honest and you’re just a jealous hater.” Thanks for proving my point. 🤦‍♂️

Lots of Russian involvement found. No definitive proof of a conspiracy directly between Trump personally and the Russian government (but absolutely proof of illegal conspiracies with many in his campaign and administration and Russia, with many prosecutions and convictions)…largely because he obstructed the investigation at every turn, refused to provide witnesses or evidence that was subpoenaed, refused to testify, answered all in writing questions with “I don’t recall”, and used the DOJ as a shield instead of a separate independent non political part of the justice system. All this was then lied about by Barr, Republicans didn’t read the report, just took Barr’s lies as truth and refused to see the crimes in front of them….too busy focused on Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi. Barr’s since admitted he intentionally misled congress and the public and publicly apologized for it. You got duped.

Impeached twice buddy. The trials were both thrown by McConnel without jeopardy ever being attached, he didn’t examine evidence or listen to witnesses, he acted as Trump’s defense instead of doing his job, prosecutor and jurist.

Then Trump tried to overthrow the government of the US on Jan 6, we know you hate to hear it but he did….it WAS wild, his proud boys finally got to stop “standing by” and acted for him, and you try to blame BLM and ANTIFA despite every arrest being a long time Trumpster….ALL patriotic Americans care and want EVERY perpetrator arrested and charged, it’s just getting started….and again was protected by McConnel who refused to hear a case before he was out of office, then claimed you can’t try him or even investigate, he’s out of office (and they won’t have any investigations because they can’t have their direct involvement become public knowledge before the next election or the country goes deep deep blue next year).
(Side note, Pence thought Trump tried to kidnap him on that day. When led to a secure area by his own security force, he refused to get in the armored limo Trump sent to evacuate him, telling his security chief that (paraphrasing) ‘I trust you, but if I get in that limo, you won’t be with me, and I certainly don’t trust Trump’s security team or driver right now.’ He then stayed in the secure area with his personal security team.)

We know you don’t recall any of that…or just deny it as fake news because it’s unflattering for Bunker baby, the Cowardly Liar, but it all happened, the records are clear no matter how much you deny the most criminal president ever facing uncountable prosecutions for his innumerable crimes with the most convictions in his administration in history ever did a thing wrong….including having a child with his daughter, idolizing Hitler, siding with racists, white nationalists, and fascists, and trying to follow the Nazi plan to seize power by blaming his failed coup, the attack on Congress on Jan 6, on his political enemies to outrage his base and outlaw his enemies. Like a good little brown shirt you supported every single bold faced and obvious lie without question.

Trump did nothing right. FTFY.

Edit: lol…and the universe provides again. Trump just lambasted his own “best people” as garbage stars, stars he personally created out of garbage with no talent, intelligence, knowledge, or loyalty to anything. One more thing he got wrong.

Woman Refuses to Leave Uber Car

ChaosEngine says...

Quoting and responding..

"Well, yes and no. If you're being dumped somewhere that there's no landmarks and/or no cell service, you might have an argument that getting out puts you in danger, but that's certainly not the case here. "

Already agreed this isn't the case here. Twice, in fact

"I think that's the risk you take when you decide to go with Uber. You pay less, you get a certain type of service, but you have less recourse if it goes bad. "

Sorry, but no. There's still a base level of service to be expected.

"I don't disagree that he reacted poorly."

That's really my main point. You can be 100% in the right and still act like an asshole. If he had remained calm and called the police this video would've gotten no traction at all.

"He is NOT a taxi driver, he's an Uber driver. I disagree, Uber does not =taxi. Taxi=taxi...Limo=>taxi ...Uber ="

This is probably worthy of a separate discussion, but since we're here...

I 100% disagree with this. Uber is a taxi service, just a really poorly run one. They've just started in my hometown and they are actually encouraging drivers to break the law. In NZ, you are legally required to have a passenger endorsement to carry passengers for profit, but Uber just told their drivers "eh, don't worry about it, you'll be sweet" and then left them twisting in the wind when the government went "er, no, we weren't fucking joking", and started clamping down.

Frankly, the more I learn about Uber, the less I am inclined to use their service. I like some of what they're doing, but it's complete bullshit they way they treat their drivers.

Most of all, I hate the way they claim to be a "ride-sharing" company. If someone was setting up a service of "I'm going to the airport, want to share fuel/parking costs?" that's ride sharing (I think Lyft do that??). But that's not the Uber model. The driver is going where you tell them. That's a taxi.

Sidenote: I really wish we could have the old quote system back. Replying to long quotes like this is a pain in the arse now.

Well, yes and no. If you're being dumped somewhere that there's no landmarks and/or no cell service, you might have an argument that getting out puts you in danger, but that's certainly not the case here. I would argue that, if you aren't being left somewhere dangerous, you have no right to remain in the car. Period. Being inconvenienced does not give one carte blanche to ignore the law or common sense. This IS the same as remaining in a theater in that she is continuing to use the service (actually worse, because he's precluded from serving other customers until she's gone) but she's not paying for it....but yes, there are also differences.

I think that's the risk you take when you decide to go with Uber. You pay less, you get a certain type of service, but you have less recourse if it goes bad. That's a choice, you don't get to ignore that if it doesn't go your way. She made that decision, she's stuck with it. She could have called a cab, she didn't.

I don't disagree that he reacted poorly.

He is NOT a taxi driver, he's an Uber driver. I disagree, Uber does not =taxi. Taxi=taxi...Limo=>taxi ...Uber =

ChaosEngine said:

There's a difference between "commandeering a place of business" and expecting a taxi driver to take you to the correct location. It's a pretty unique situation in that you are almost always in an unfamiliar place without transport. It's not the same as staying in a movie theatre.

If I was in a cab and they didn't drop me to where I had asked to go, I would probably get out and refuse to pay. But in an Uber, you've already paid, so staying in the cab is pretty much your only recourse, otherwise, you get dropped on the side of the road somewhere and you can, what... downvote them? Yeah, that's really helpful when you're stuck trying to get somewhere without transport.

That's as a general principle.

In this specific case, I already agreed that she was being an entitled arsehole. She was at the hospital, she should have just gotten out.

My issue isn't that he asked her to leave, my issue is the way he handled it.

You simply don't act like that. Period.

He was borderline violent. That fact that he DIDN'T resort to violence is the only thing keeping him from an assault charge. It's not something to be commended, it's basic civilised behaviour.

He's a taxi driver (Uber = taxi and @Drachen_Jager is right, they should be held to the same standards). His job is dealing with the public. If he can't deal with one annoying person without losing his shit, then maybe this job isn't for him.

John Cleese on Stupidity

zaust says...

How can I show this to my neighbours and make them understand it?Timeline of this weekend - we saw some of them dressed to the nines getting into a stretched limo on Friday.

On Saturday they (as normally) loudly discussed how the person they saw could have performed for 5 more minutes whilst simultaneously stating how this performer had proven Michael Jackson's saintliness because said MJ had stayed with the performer for 4 days.

It's worth noting at this point all we knew was they went out somewhere in a stretched limo and saw someone who had MJ to visit for 4 days.

On the Sunday the normal loud talking over our fence lead to the discovery that not only did my neighbors take a stretched limo to arrive at a Michael Flatley concert. They couldn't recall the name of the long haired blonde peado with a cigar (it was Jimmy Saville - most prolific sexual predator in history) or as they roundly called him "that Australian dude" (Rolf Harris - more cherished, like painted the queens portrait, but still sent down for being a peed).

So the outcome of this is my neighbors who have a very small 4 bed house (would be 3 except they opened the loft), own 9 cars, have a 32, 26 and 18 year old still living at home. They hire a stretched limo so they go an see Michael Flatley perform live then come home and discuss loudly how Michael Jackson was obviously a good person because he stayed with Michael Flatley. Shortly afterwards they then totally struggled to remember the names of the biggest sex offender ever known in the uk and the most treasured letdown of all time.

This is almost par with them discussing a new flavor of chips/crisps for 45 min or that time 4 of them tried to count the same amount of change for >20 mins and none of them could agree the same amount.

Sorry had to rant - I'd love to confront them over the noise/cars/stupidity etc but I'm a mildly tough 40 year old. Their highly violent and the 26 year is a goddamn cagefighter.

I honestly can't vent enough - literally I could write a novel on how much my neighbors suck. Just as a final point to carry things across - I recently needed to cut back some ivy in my backgarden. During the hour this took they played Natasha Beddingfield's "These Words" 5 times. Yes I'm a Maggot, Yes I'm a 40 year old who probably needs to stop jumping into moshpits. But Natasha Beddingfield??? 5 times?? Really????

The 4 Most Insulting TV Ads you see Every Christmas

SFOGuy says...

You know, one thing. I watched it all the way to the end---and I have to say, I have personally known of some spectacularly bad Christmas presents given by men to the women in their lives:
to wit (and I am NOT making this up)
---A limo ride with champagne in a bucket, a red rose and (drum roll) a wrapped bondage outfit with a whip in the back seat (she was not into that and NOT amused)
---A washer and dryer (oops)
---Most spectacularly: a dirt bike. And no, she was in no way, no manner, even mildly interested in getting one. Friend's dad, and he was in the dog house a long, long time.

4 Rules to Make Star Wars Great Again

00Scud00 says...

Nice video although I can't agree with all of it's points. I think a fully functioning and believable universe can and should have both shiny and new as well as old and used. His example of shiny was Queen Amidala's ship from episode one, it's the vessel of a head of state, of course it's going to be shiny, just like we drive our President around in a limo, not a beat up AMC Gremlin.
Likewise I think Star Wars can be both on the frontier as well as in the centers of civilization and government, it would get boring if you just limited yourself to dusty plains and hives of scum and villainy.
The other two I agree with though, I think it was a mistake to introduce midichlorians and of course Han shot first, that just goes without saying.

Ferrari 458 Crashes While Trying To Pass a Family Car

SFOGuy says...

The last time I was in Italy, I drove myself and family for 13 days and didn't put a ding or scratch on the van because I was hyper-paranoid and careful. Other friends hired local Italian limos; they had three accidents, including one that totaled the driver's car (fortunately, he was on the way to pick up the family and none of the family was aboard).
Despite this apparent anecdotal evidence, as far as I can tell, per million residents, in 2006, the Italians had 92 deaths---and the United States had 140.

Maybe per mile driven/per kilometer stats would show something else.
