Never tell a rich plane buyer that the plane can't stall

HenningKO says...

My dad flies a one-seater electric LSA he kit-built himself. Based on his summary, I always described the "sport" designation to curious friends this way: "as long as you only kill yourself, the FAA doesn't care". I am surprised and unnerved to see carrying one passenger is indeed allowed under current regulation... that ain't right.

Watched a video made by Exit International, the lady demonstrating the use of the kit did it with the demeanor of an airline stewardess demonstrating the safety features on an airplane. Pretty surreal.

That's crazy. Anyone selling one that's used for it's designed purpose would be guilty of assisting suicide both criminally and civilly. Besides, who needs a kit to get a plastic bag, rubber band, and short hose?

That said, two tanks does seem like overkill in that situation....but then again, why be frugal at that point? If I was going to gas myself, I would rather use acetylene....go out with a bang!

The kits are real. I just added the Hallmark cards to lighten up the mood.

The kit comes with hoses and a plastic bag that goes over the head and sealed around the neck.

Some kits also come with assorted Hallmark suicide note greeting cards with common messages of regret, blame, etc. to round out the experience.

How big was the room? How well sealed? It has to displace enough of the oxygen long enough to drown you. You really don't wanna get 1/2 way, run out, and survive with brain damage, that's probably not going to help with whatever problem made you try suicide in the first place.

Side note...we are running out of helium, and it's needed for science. Please don't waste it killing yourself people, any gas that displaces oxygen should do the trick.

I think that basically what the Nitrogen method is, iirc any of the noble gasses will work in that capacity. He mentions problems with that method but never elaborates on what they are, I have heard that if done right you basically go to sleep. And if you buy helium on the internet you want to make sure it's pure helium, many manufacturers of party helium started diluting their helium with oxygen to stop people from using them in suicide kits.

I recovered a suicide victim from a hotel a few years ago. A female doctor who used helium as her method. So, I took that as doctor recommended.

If you become suicidal, think for a second. If you have the power to destroy the world, then you MUST have the power to save it. It will change your world.

If you are pro death penalty, give the helium method a try. You can buy it online.

Four producers remix the same jazz piano sample

So here's my opinion.
I hate this.

Why you ask?
Because, while each producer has become the artist, none of them respect the music. I understand this is the assignment. But it's wholly representative of what's wrong with the music industry today.

Don't miss-understand me, I respect the artistry of the process they go through. They have all created a new personal piece. Respect for that part.

BUT, Music is more than re-sampling. The ORIGINAL artist matters. When I listen to music, I want to hear the artist who created the piece. I want to experience the sound of someone playing actual instruments. There is no replacement for the talent of a musician.

I would accept this IF the producer, actually crated their own samples first. This in affect is like a do-it-yourself paint-by-numbers kit.

I love the sounds, but I never want to hear music where it's so overly-produced that it erases or lays claim to a sound above the original musician's piece.

Where have all the musician's gone? - They all went digital! and the music died.

Solo Sabotage Trailer

cloudballoon says...

Hmmm... I can understand the intent is to drum up the hype & interest for Solo, but really, I think the PR machine is just spinning in circles and going through the motions for the paychecks. These teasers are not going to convince the hard core SW fans that the movie will be good/worthy of the SW name. Oh well, it is meant for the general public.

For as a rich universe as Star Wars, I can stomach the terrible movies. I can mental-block those because there are plenty of other mediums that can tell much better SW stories. Sadly I put ever less and less hope that the big movies can kindle the love of the property. As many of the movie-making analysis videos say, modern SFX bonanza is really more of a hindrance than complimentary to better film-making.

My main enjoyment of SW now comes from the books, comics and the model kits I build. The movies, not so much.

Thanks I was pretty impressed by how close to the original he got, even though his kit probably cost less than one VOX AC30 amp... without even getting to microphones, instruments, and an entire studio.
