Healthy As a Horse

TheFreak says...

Gupta then talked about his interaction Tuesday with Trump's doctor, Navy Rear Adm. Dr. Ronny Jackson.

"It was interesting when I spoke to Dr. Jackson. At first he said he passed all the tests with flying colors," Gupta said. "When I asked him specifically about that test, he did then concede that, in fact, the president does have heart disease."
"They're going to be increasing the medications, including the cholesterol-lowering medications to try and combat that, but there's no question, by all standards, by all metrics, anyway a doctor or cardiologist will look at it, the president does have heart disease."

Star Citizen Squadron 42 gameplay

OverLord says...

Ill just say again, it's not the FIRST hour. This is a section of gameplay that was chosen as it has a few of the mechanics they wanted to show off (quantum travel, player NPC interaction, FPS combat etc). It's not the start of your Single player experience.

Death Stranding new trailer 2018

iaui says...

At the high end, video games are really in the process of transforming into interactive movies. And curiously, vice versa in some situations. Like all of the Oats Studios stuff is 'almost' video games. All of their ADAM series is made using Unity, which is a common, powerful video game engine/development studio. Exciting times.

Though I still recommend staying away, if you can manage

That's some hardcore stuff right there.

Freaking wow. I've always considered video game storylines pfft a waste of time, but this I could get into (if I were to ever play video games again, which of course I won't).

Republican Tax Scam Is Handwritten Nonsense

mentality says...

Tax reform? You mean the Republican tax plan which will raise taxes for families making between $20k and $40k, while cutting an average of $37K a year for those in the top 1%?

Is this what Jesus taught you? To give to the rich and fuck the poor?

"Your side (Dems) are not so fortunate. The Democrat / Liberal list grows by the day. The party of debauchery."

The leader of the Republicans, the president YOU voted for, is responsible for this, and you dare to pretend to to have the moral high ground? Have you no shame you spineless hypocrite?

bobknight33 said:

Dems had 8 years to do tax reform and did nothing.

Roy Moore?? We will see when his accusers have their day in court. Till then Roy is innocent.

Republican Tax Scam Is Handwritten Nonsense

Fairbs says...

Dems don't do tax reform where only the rich get richer or schemes to jump start the economy that are predicted to increase it by .1% while adding over a trillion to the defecit so that later they can cut safety net programs

when 1 woman comes out and says something, I'm a bit skeptical; in moores case there's the women, shop owners, security guards, business associates, ... all saying that he was a creepy bastard and would try to date highschool girls when he was in his 30s; that's sick shite

and good old trump has 20 women accusing him of being from inappropriate up to and including rape; are all of them lying??? I sincerely doubt it; legally he's innocent, but in truth I believe he's a serious scumbag and guilty... https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2017/nov/30/donald-trump-sexual-misconduct-allegations-full-list

The robot-proof job men aren't taking

newtboy says...

We had better hope they are dead wrong, and that they aren't robot proof jobs, because millennials aren't flocking to nursing, it's hard. If robots can't take over most of the work load (they can) then elder abuse will be the norm due to neglect. There will still be a need for human interaction (until the uncanny valley is bridged) but the grunt work can be automated.

Funny that they make this assumption about men's percieved ability to empathize, and ignore historical professional gender rolls that are only recently being challenged. Most of their points became culturally outdated in the 70's imo.

It's sad that the last woman, asking if nursing or men should change (implying men should) clearly still thinks "manly" men can't be empathetic and caring...should she be countered with the equally insulting "pretty" women can't be smart or strong? That thinking belongs back in the 1960's.

The Real Reason Taxes Suck

ChaosEngine says...

In the civilised world, "doing taxes" is one of those weird things you are aware of because of American TV.

In my entire working life, my interaction with tax amounts to looking at my payslip whenever my salary changes and ... that's it.

My tax comes off my pay automatically, I pay a flat Goods and Services Tax of 15% on everything I buy, and there are various other duties, levies, etc., all of which are pre-calculated and included in the listed price.

There are a few "tax refund" companies around that will try and recoup a tax gain, but most of the time it amounts to so little money it's not worth it.

What Happens When A Woman Abuses A Man In Public?

AeroMechanical says...

Eh, their overall point is certainly valid, but in the situation with the woman assaulting the man, I would not be greatly concerned for his physical safety (which, granted, is assuming he doesn't have some kind of physical disability, which isn't a great assumption). Being bigger and stronger, he has the option to extricate himself while staying purely on the defensive, whereas a woman being assaulted typically doesn't have that option without assistance from a bystander. I don't think we want to over-equalize everything to the point where we overlook that underlying all male-female interaction is that if it somehow degenerates to violence, the male will most likely ultimately control the outcome

Unreal Engine's Human CGI is So Real it's Unreal

ravioli says...

What this company (snapperstech.com) did is put together an upgraded control "rig" to manipulate facial expressions, taking into account muscle limits and interactions, skin elasticity, etc.

A little more info in the video's YT desc :
-Adaptive rig: which allows combining any number of expressions using optimized list of blendshapes.
-Real facial muscles constraints: the advanced rig logic simulates real facial muscles constraints.
-Advanced skin shader (for Maya and Unreal): holds up to 16 wrinkles maps and 16 dynamic diffuse maps with micro details and pores stretching.
-Easy to manipulate using facial controllers and/or GUI.
-Compatible with all game engines and animation packages.
-Smooth transition between all the expressions.
-Adjustment layer: freeform manipulation of multiple regions of the face to create unlimited variations of the same expression.

The real-time rendering part is achieved by the Unreal engine itself. The final rendering performance still relies mainly on the hardware used.

ChaosEngine said:

Yeah, the real-time aspect of it is insanely good, although I'd still like to know how much of the rendering budget it takes up, i.e. is this usable in a game or just a research project at the moment?

What do you mean by "only one modifier is being applied"? Which is my other criticism of the video; a voiceover explaining the tech would have been more interesting than the music.

I don't believe that "multiple modifiers" would make this look better, for the simple reason that if you're demoing a technology like this, you end with ALL the bells and whistles to make it look as good as possible.

Art of Police Cover Up - Recorded Hiding Evidence

Drachen_Jager says...

This is the way of banana republics and the United States.

Practically every other industrialized country has better police oversight. This is why so many police interactions end in death. They do favors for the DA's office, then when they get in trouble, the favor is returned.

And, your boy in the White House just erased much of the oversight Obama installed to try and curb some of this shit.

But, nice way to change the world to fit your personal worldview rather than accepting that you might be wrong.

BBC Introduces "Digital Blackface"

Sagemind says...

This has been bugging me since I first watched it. In fact, I've seen the topis pop up several times since seeing it the first time.

I went to the BBC website, and they show the Digital Blackface video, with absolutely no place for comments or viewer interaction. We are just expected at accept it.

It's my honest opinion that this Digital Blackface segment does nothing but insight more bigotry. It takes something that was never racist and and makes it racist. How are we ever going to eliminate the separation gap, if there's always someone there to push us further apart.

H3H3 is so On Point here. *promote

I have so much to say here, but most is covered in the video - watch it.

Houston Cop To Rescuers-"We've Had Enough"

littledragon_79 says...

If he is "following orders", then the top brass needs to get their shit together. There's no reason they can't organize the volunteers and dispatch them so they know who/where they are and what areas have already been helped. But I guess when your town's underwater, fuck help from Yankees.

Part of me wishes the driver would have just said, "There's a nice way to do that". I can't speak for the officer, but on it's face the interaction is shitty. Maybe he's super stressed about his own stuff. Maybe he's upset about having to help others and no one to help him. Maybe he thinks his orders (if there are any) are really stupid and is at odds with his superiors.

Whatever the case, ultimately he ends up doing a poor job of representing his dept., the city, and cops in general. Hope he and others learn.

Has GOT Lost Its Edge | Wisecrack (SPOILERS)

RedSky says...

I'm confused why they didn't make use of the full season episode count. The material clearly could support it and they could have easily padded out plenty of sections with more character interaction / dialogue.

That extra content using the same sets / locations would have surely been relatively cheap compared to the extra revenue it brought in.

SMALT

Teen arrested by 9 cops for jaywalking

C-note says...

To punish and oppress is the american apartheid way. There are no black children in the eyes of police. An excuse to fear for their lives is created when the use of excessive force causes the victim to try to protect themselves from the beating which justifies the use of deadly when the victim tries to stop the beating by grabbing the cops weapon. Avoid any interaction with the police and run for your life to get away if you feel they have targeted you.
