I know that’s his excuse for such horrific performance, but it’s more nonsense. He won’t get an appeal, there’s no misconduct, the judge is more than fair, the jury remains to be seen but if there’s a single maggot empaneled who would have lied to be on it it’s absolutely not, so far the judge has been giving defendant Trump far more leeway and second and third chances without repercussions than any other defendant has ever enjoyed. 😂
The only actual biased judge handling his cases (besides the Supreme Court) is Cannon who is clearly and undeniably bending and breaking the law in Trump’s favor, and using her court calendar to shield him from any other prosecutions before the election, and trying multiple methods to throw the case that have been reversed. The other judges YOU say are biased have not been reversed because they aren’t biased, in fact they were investigated based on Trump’s suggestion they are biased and found to be impartial and fair by a panel of judges including Trump appointees.

Buddy, my IQ is double yours. You can’t read or write at a third grade level, I read and wrote at college level in 6th grade, took AP chemistry in 7th, and AP B-C Calculus in high school. You struggled through trade school, I went to college for 10 years for fun. Don’t ever compare your complete lack of intellect with my intelligence and intellectual curiosity.

Joe only looks impaired when edited to look that way, every time you have actually watched him speak you admitted he spoke surprisingly well and logically, so you stopped watching him and now just repeat what liars say he said, because you are an idiotic tool afraid of reality. If you apply the same measure of cognitive ability to Trump, Trump is exponentially worse at every turn every time, any clip for clip. Trump can’t complete sentences, or even words often, and is in fact incapable of staying awake for an even just few hours a day during a trial he absolutely should be deeply involved in defending. Biden misspeaks every now and then. Trump is always incomprehensible. Biden embellishes, Trump is deathly allergic to the truth.

Joe is wiping the floor with disgraced Donald again, who can’t stay awake in his own trial. Unlike Joe, his designation of “sleepy” has been proven daily and is visibly getting worse daily, Joe is out there walking Pickett lines, giving hours long speeches in the pouring rain, and running the country all bright eyed and bushy tailed while decrepit Don cries at home and cancels rallies because of minor rain (the same rain Biden held his rally in) and after weeks of begging supporters to show up for him there are still none, and not even his family shows up for him.

Sucker. You fell in love with a self absorbed asshole who hates you, and only wants you for your money and vote, then you should die. Yes, he has said exactly that…” Even if you vote and then pass away, it's worth it”.

But your rectal shield protects your tiny little brain from these realities.

Joe beat Trump, and he will again. Perhaps you haven’t noticed the polls since trial started and testimony published and since people finally recognized the economy is (and has been) doing great. Not to mention the biggest vote driver in our lifetime, women’s health care rights (women’s rights in general if you listen to the honest righties that admit they plan to remove the vote from women shortly). It’s swinging the wrong way for you, hard. The RNC has 4 months to find a candidate that won’t be in prison and isn’t universally reviled, but the cult refuses to consider it.

STILL WAITING BABY BOY. I’m capable of answering all your idiotic loaded questions with verifiable facts, you absolutely refuse to answer a single question because you are not capable of rational thought and have no answers.

bobknight33 said:

Yep Trump will loose in his highly biased Judge and Jury, Just like all the other trials. Trump will have to win on appeals, dealing with less biased judges.

I know you dont follow the trials, Your IQ is too low to follow.

On the other hand Joey B mental capacity is failing daily.
When do you think the DNC will SWAP him and the useless VP? The DNC got 4 months to dump sleepy Joe.

Math is the main requirement for engineering. If you can’t do basic math, it’s incredibly unlikely you could earn a degree in any kind of engineering. If your wife couldn’t write a sentence I would also doubt any journalist credentials she claimed, if she couldn’t do basic arithmetic I would doubt any degree she claimed. There are basic minimum requirements to graduate that you don’t seem to meet. So much for your stupid rebuttal.

Clearly it’s not…but what is? Not math. Not critical thinking. Not history.

As I’ve said repeatedly, clearly, and directly, no. I don’t think he’s achieving as much as even I hoped for in my unbounded cynicism, and I never had high hopes from him, he’s not my choice….but I understand exactly why he’s not getting much done and don’t hold him 100% accountable for much of it. Without a functional congress, his hands are tied on many fronts.
Foreign policy, that’s on him. I wish we had soldiers in the Ukraine so Russia would be forced to attack America if they want to attack the Ukraine….like we said we would when they gave up their nukes by treaty.

I invite you to explain how I’m wrong at any time, but without facts and reliable sources to cite you’ll likely fail like so often before.

? Grand master? I pointed out a basic fact, GDP under Obama was double GDP under Trump. What delusional fantasy are you railing against now?

Didn’t watch. Guaranteed it was more informative and less self aggrandizing than any Trump “press conference” ever, with fewer exaggerations and outright falsehoods.

Incomprehensible. Take a deep breath and try again. Use your words.

Massive debt, unequalled corruption, isolationism, nationalism, and division certainly don’t make America better, and that’s the Trump legacy. Investment in America makes it better, Biden’s already done that and wants to do more.

bobknight33 said:

My wife has a journalism degree but can't do any meaningful math.

So much your stupid argument.

Everyone is different, grammar is not my strong suit.

You know so much that just ain't so. You in a bubble. Are you 1 of the 30% that think Biden is doing a great job?

You sit here thinking up on you high horse but you are so often wrong is it laughable

Trying to put the failed OBAMA on some grand master of a POTUS truly shows how much shit for brains you have.

Truly I bet you think Bidens 2 hour press conference today was pretty fucking all right.

80% failure where you most likely 80% success. This is how shit you are.

You, like Obama, Biden Clinton are good at speaking BS. Just keep giving your failed ideas of what makes America better.

How To NOT Use A Roundabout

newtboy says...

They installed a double roundabout freeway exit/entrance here, in Arcata, about 4-5 years ago. The only signs are yield signs. Because it's got two one way freeway exits, two one way freeway entrances, and one through street it's pretty hard to mess up.
Now, the roundabouts ON the freeway in Iceland, three lanes wide, those were incomprehensible.

psycop said:

I'm from the home of the good 'ole roundabout and honestly... I don't get how you are meant to use this thing. Also yes, ours are absolutely plastered with signs and help.

Is this two one way roads, or was it just random chance that all the traffic was going one way? Normally one side of the road would be for return traffic?

Took a wee while, but I found a picture of a normal looking roundabout and even in a country where people use them all the time there are a lot of attempts to tell you how to use it:

Pretending to be someone else? DJT? Total con. Wow!

Can't argue w/third line as it is incomprehensible (perhaps the Russian to English translator is buggy).

Pretty insincere belief if he's arguing wide-spread voter fraud when the vast majority of cases involved Republicans. NC ring a bell?

Almost expect, "See? They almost got away with it!" (using GOP crimes as support for new GOP crimes.) Gawd.*

Also perverse to believe Democrats have to 'cheat' to win.

Nice. Have anything else? Or would it be quicker to watch Fox to hear what you're going to say next?

Good Lord.

Have friends across the political spectrum and they are far more careful and thoughtful. Most folks just want some betterment. Progress. Health Insurance. Kids to become better educated at a higher level than they were at any age. Or even a road that doesn't eat tires or abuse shocks. That takes compromise. A common goal. Most don't care who - just when!

Tired of the 'I'll take my ball and leave' mentality.

The WKRP in Cincinnati closing theme lyrics are gibberish

Ashenkase says...

"The closing theme, "WKRP In Cincinnati End Credits," was a hard rock number composed and performed by Jim Ellis, an Atlanta musician who recorded some of the incidental music for the show. According to people who attended the recording sessions, Ellis didn't yet have lyrics for the closing theme, so he improvised a semi-comprehensible story about a bartender to give an idea of how the finished theme would sound. Wilson decided to use the words anyway, since he felt that it would be funny to use lyrics that were deliberate gibberish, as a satire on the incomprehensibility of many rock songs.[21] Because CBS always had an announcer talking over the closing credits, Wilson knew that no one would hear the closing theme lyrics."

Optimistic Nihilism - Kurzgesagt

newtboy says...

I find it much more sad that people are willing to delude themselves with placating mythos that can't stand the slightest critical examinations than I find the fact that there's almost certainly no god(s) by any definition. Lack of a supreme being is not a scary thing to me in the least, but a capricious, judgmental, incomprehensible, vengeful god ready to cast immortal souls into hell for eternity over small rule infractions is horrifying.

Reality is scary. I get why people would hide their heads under the safety blanket of religion(s), I just disagree that it's any more useful against reality than hiding under a sheet is against home invaders. It might make you feel better because you can't see them, but that's all (unless they are as dumb as the bugblatter beast of Traal, who thinks if you can't see it, it can't see you).

I feel bad for your uncle, who it sounds like believes in god out of a fear instilled in him as a child. Consciously, it sounds like he understands it's an irrational belief, but fear makes people do irrational things all the time. Fear is the mind killer.

eric3579 said:

You keep thinking that so you don't get sad.

I have an uncle who told me that he believes because the idea of no god scares him. I appreciate that honesty. That makes sense to me. I however don't find the fact there is no god scary or sad. It just is. There are enough real things you could be scared or sad about.

D'oh! Glad to be a part in supplying that schadenfreude.

Of course, O'keefe has already made his response to being caught, claiming it's not true and offering some incomprehensible evidence (like their operative being included in mass emails about the planned 'action', which he says they wouldn't have done if they knew he/she was a plant (unless they were trying to not let them know they knew he worked for Veritas so they could catch him offering money for crimes...duh)). I would bet one of your facebook people will come back with that reply...tell them it's bs, that the expose actually came out the day before the Veritas hit piece, not after, and the mental gymnastics Veritas is performing doesn't change a thing, they offered money for crime, recorded those they tried to hire verifying what they were being paid for, then edited it so it looks like they are suggesting those actions rather than what they were doing, verifying it's what Veritas was paying for.

Jim Jefferies on Bill Cosby and Rape Jokes

Chairman_woo says...

I guess that's where we differ.

I find it funny precisely because such things really happen.

In a world where no such cruelty exists, I think this kind of material would then become empty and pointless. Comedy thrives on the defiance of our misery.

I dare say it would get less of a laugh in Sweden for this very reason.

I'm clearly in the minority here, but then I suspect few people have developed the same sense of cynical detachment I have (working with the severely mentally I'll and dieing will do that to you).

The humour is definitely there, I guess you just need a suitably fucked up perspective to appreciate it.

Out of curiosity, did you find Jim's old bit about the child getting shot when he was in Iraq funny? I might suggest that is an even more cruel and fucked up situation than the subject matter being discussed here.

Would that only become funny when children are no longer victims of wars? Or is it funny precisely because of the incomprehensible cruelty and misfortune underlying it?

Perhaps you have an easier time detaching yourself from something that isn't as likely to happen to you? This seems reasonable, but I don't see how it precludes such material from being funny, only more challenging for one to engage with. (and thus more powerful if one can do so)

To bring in a thread from another reply "And this is the brilliance of Louis -- that he lays bare the humanity of even pedophiles. The truth of pedophiles."

In what sense is Jim not doing the same thing here? He is flippantly exploring Cosby's desire to victimise women, we all have desires and sometimes act on those impulses when we shouldn't.
Rape is an extreme example, but the thought process is ultimately the same thing writ large. "I want a thing I can't have, but I'm doing it anyway".
I might argue he is laying bare the universal human condition in just the same way, albeit with something closer to home for most people than paedophilia.

Presumably it's the other thread that's proving challenging, i.e. the masochistic idea of enjoying ones abuse? And again, there is something deeply fucked up at the heat of the human condition here. Deriving pleasure from victim hood, or having messed up priorities about fame and opportunity.
Stockholm syndrome, abused partners loving their spouses, groupies allowing themselves to be abused just to be near their idols.

We are really that fucked up as a species sometimes, cognitive dissonance is almost a way of life for most of us in our own little ways. It's clearly a deeply risque subject, but there is something dark at the core of the human condition there none the less.

The actual victims don't need to have the kind of mixed up priorities Jim is alluding to, we only have to recognise that we posses the capacity for that dissonance ourselves. (The joke being at the expense of our own inherent hypocrisies, not specific victims)

The only big difference I can really see is that child rape is much rarer than the kind being discussed here. (and thus I suppose easier for most to detach themselves from)

Is it really any less horrific? Surely if anything it is far more terrible for most victims and usually seems to cause more damage to their lives.

How does Louis's material on Child rape remain funny in a world where children are raped, yet Jim's material about women being raped only become funny in a world where they do not get raped?

Paedophiles have a culture too. They form groups, exchange materials, praise each others work etc. etc. Not to mention grooming rings and other such reprehensible things.

I understand that a particular subject can strike too close to home, but for me that was my failing to rise above my own fears and traumas. When I finally got to a place where I could laugh at my own victim hood, it was one of the most liberating experiences of my life. (Don't get me wrong, that shit never completely goes away)

If you read my original comment, that says it all about how I feel about this particular "rape joke."

It'll get funny when we don't live in a world where women are fingered while passed out and teenage boys take video of the assault instead of stopping it. Like those Swedish bicyclists did.

Maybe these jokes are funnier in Sweden, where sexual assault isn't the norm.

Britain Leaving the EU - For and Against, Good or Bad?

vil says...

There just doesnt seem to be enough to be gained either by leaving or by staying in at this stage. A lose-lose situation.

Britain has avoided adopting Schengen rules and the Euro, so there is little it can complain about regarding the EU, really.

There is also little to cheer for, the Euro and Schengen area are not working as intended, rules are bent and broken at will, the "democratic" political process is at best incomprehensible, but apparently skewed toward unelected clerks applying social engineering solutions to imaginary problems.

Really leaving (not bindingly decided in this referendum) would lead to short term chaos and economic loss for both the EU and Britain. With what long term gains, exactly?

Democracy should be used to pick representatives who make responsible decisions, not to vote about what mood people are in on a given day.

Sunspring: The first sci-fi movie written by an AI

artician says...

"I need to leave, but I'm not free of the world."

Amen, brother.

Too much credit is being given to the AI here. It constructed semi-comprehensible sentences, but what we're watching was interpreted through the human production, and the rest was put together by our own nature to find patterns and sense in the incomprehensible. (i.e. We see what we want to see, and manufacture the meanings that mean something to us based on our experiences and environment).

I like a lot of anime, but I have to say, this bit embodies everything I hate about anime. This is the reason Matrix II and III sucked, this is why Superman movies always suck. Heroes need limits comprehensible by us mere mortals, otherwise the action just becomes a bunch of incomprehensible garbage (like the above).

Officer Friendly is NOT your friend

Sagemind says...

Like a little bully who stands behind his parent who is defending them, while the bully, at the same time is mocking the other kid from behind their parent's back while they are saying, "My Tommy would never do that."

The courts are trusting you to use the laws morally and with just cause. Using it to trick innocent people or like has been said above to ruin people's lives for your own gain is incomprehensible.

@lantern53. I'm not sure how you can argue with people, and tell them they are wrong. This is your public. the people you swore to protect and serve. What went wrong with you that you have let go of the duty you started with and have come to think of the public as the enemy?
You would go a lot further in life to listen to people's concerns and take this attitude into the workplace and use it to help people. Help people in need and also help people see a better side of police.

We're here to add ideas, and to offer positive criticism (some of us) - the ones that are against you are the ones you've already pushed to far. You are worsening the problem by making even more people dislike police officers and the authority they abuse.

lantern53 said:
