If 'Djent' Was Added To The Oxford Dictionary

shagen454 says...

Haha that guy is hilarious. I do believe the origin of "djent" was Meshuggah. But, this style that he does for the video actually reminds me of a comedy group from the 90's called "Jud Jud". Jud Jud used to make mouth noises to satirize toughguystraight edge hardcore groups like Earth Crisis and had a few releases on uber punk label No Idea Records.

President Trump: How & Why...

Asmo says...

Yep, keep throwing tantrums. Yelling insults and stomping around like a 2 year old worked for Trump, why shouldn't it work for the left..? X D

And as for "Most of me just thinks that liberals or SJWs or whatever you want to call them, just need to stop being so fucking meek and apologising for being right.", give me a fucking break...

You mean those same meek people featured in thousands of hours of documented video assaulting people, screaming at people, demanding that people lose their rights to, oh I don't know, little things like the freedom of speech, expression, scientific inquiry etc...

I disagree with Trump and his hardcore supporters 100%, but they not only have the right to say whatever they want, they have the right to believe in whatever they want, and I'll defend those rights. You (and the rest of the SJW twats) want to set aside those rights? You don't even get that you're cutting off your nose to spite your face...

Seriously, you even read that post back before you hit submit? How fucking entitled do you need to be that you think democracy should be thrown out just because you don't like the result?

ChaosEngine said:

Yeah, I do know who "those people" are, they're the fucking morons who voted for Trump.

See, here's the thing. I'm no longer interested in bringing them round or convincing them. Fuck 'em. We've had centuries of social progress from the abolition of slavery to women's suffrage to the civil rights movement to SSM. If they haven't got the message by now, I really don't give a shit.

But as a culture and a society we need to stop fucking pandering to these assholes. The idea that "everyone is entitled to an opinion" is a very important idea. But somewhere along the line that got mixed up with "everyone's opinion is equally valid".

I don't really have a solution for this. Part of me is actually considering what I would classify as extreme, abhorrent measures. Most of me just thinks that liberals or SJWs or whatever you want to call them, just need to stop being so fucking meek and apologising for being right.

Either way, we don't have time for this bullshit anymore.

This is what a fucking Trump presidency gets you.

At this stage, as utterly undemocratic as it is, I'm just hoping the Electoral College ignores the election (which it can totally do) and elects Hillary.

Yeah, she's a pretty poor candidate and she's in the pocket of business and blah, blah, fucking blah.

I don't care.

She's not an insane climate denying buffoon.

Grappler Police Bumper - No more PIT maneuver

poolcleaner says...

America is hardcore mode but with first world conditions. I'm sorry, but we just accept that when you get run the fuck over, you're run the fuck over for life. I mean.. death.

(I half imagined after the cop chased down the pedestrian, that the grappler bumper had turned into a pair of giant scissors ready to cut off that guy's legs.)

radx said:

Neat system, but I'm curious: some carmarkers at least put up a token effort to design the front of their cars in a way that doesn't dismember pedestrians when you run them over - is that still not a thing in the US?

Impressive Bank Robbery Scene

sixshot says...

Okay, so Hardcore Henry was referenced. Figure I'd give my take on it. H.H. has a LOT of camera shake. Depending on how you can deal with that shakiness, I wasn't able to view the movie in one sitting. It took me 3 sittings just to finish watching it. After a period of viewing it, I didn't feel too good. But there's a basic difference between the two. This being a short-film/music-video kind of thing. The other is a movie.

If by comparing the two as far as camera work and cinematography, I think this one executes the 1st person view better. There's less shaking overall, which makes for an easier time to follow what's happening. But that's my opinion of it.

How To Correct Donald Trump In Real Time

dannym3141 says...

It's happening hardcore over here. It seems like sometime in the last 5 years, all the stops came out and it's become utterly shameless. They will say or do anything, and if they are wrong or found to be acting improperly they print a very small retraction - but the damage is already done. And other media outlets report on the false report!

Recently the Labour leader here has been repeatedly smeared by anti Semitism. They say his supporters are anti-Semites, that he doesn't express enough outrage in condemning anti-Semitism. The guy is famed for his tolerance and acceptance, says in almost every speech he gives that he wants to challenge any and all xenophobia, is the biggest cheerleader for women and minorities, has appointed the most diverse shadow cabinet in history, issued a full independent investigation into racism and abuse....... He does all of this, but now the stories are "claims of anti-Semitism appears to follow the Labour leader around" -- they are now reporting that they have reported false claims of anti-Semitism!

He doesn't even defend himself - he asks people instead to stop instrumentalising minorities to score political points. So then they claim he's not taking their false claims seriously enough and therefore not taking anti-Semitism seriously and the smear cycle goes on.

The worst thing about all of this is how complicit his opponents are in the game.... fair enough if you don't like him, it's ok to rubbish his policies. But this media misrepresentation is destroying a democracy that was already on its knees. And politicians, guardians of our society, manipulate and utilise this poisonous shit to get their way!

This year has completely turned me off politics again. To see what these people will to do an honest man has broken my spirit, but to that 70 year old bloke's credit, it hasn't broken his.

Trump Jokes That Gun Owners Can 'Fix' the Clinton Problem

heropsycho says...

Ummm, no.

Hillary Clinton said she would continue her primary campaign because you never know, and gave RFK's assassination as an historical example of someone who appeared to have the nomination well in hand, and then suddenly didn't. She CLEARLY wasn't telling anyone to go assassinate Obama, nor implying it.

The only valid defense of this Trump clip is he was talking about the people can use their guns to stop their guns from being taken away, which at best is inciting violence against the government. The worst part is he's telling hardcore gun right advocates they could do this against the odds on favorite next president of the US for a policy she doesn't even support.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/may/11/donald-trump/donald-trump-falsely-claims-hillary-clinton-wants-/

There is no equivalency between Hillary Clinton's remark and this Donald Trump clip at all, just like even if you don't like Hillary Clinton at all, equating Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as candidates is also ridiculous.

Sylvester_Ink said:

Didn't Hillary also make an implication about Obama being assassinated in 2008? Only I don't recall anyone making as much of a big deal about it back then. Meanwhile, this quote can actually be construed as Trump pointing out that gun owners would be the only ones able to fight back against their gun rights being taken away in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

If you compare both quotes side by side, both are fairly innocuous. It's just that the media blew one of them way out of proportion. Don't let the media lead you by the nose.

(And before the angry comments come, I am FAR from being a Trump supporter. I felt the Bern, and now I'm burning Green.)

How the Gun Industry Sells Self-Defense | The New Yorker

Mordhaus says...

Just a couple of points.

While concealed carry is legal in all states, that does not accurately cover the difficulty in getting permits. In many states, the requirements are so dramatic that it is effectively impossible to become certified. For instance, in California you may only be licensed to concealed carry if you can show a reason to need to carry AND get permission from your local sheriff or city police. In addition, one of the cornerstones of CCW is reciprocity, the allowing of other states CCW permits to be recognized in your state. California is one of the 'may carry' states that doesn't allow any other state or country's CCW holders to carry in California. You must be a resident. Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island are similar. In fact, in Hawaii and a couple of the others, offices that grant permission have been specifically told by superiors to not issue for any reason.

Secondly, other than suicides, CCW holders are far less likely to commit any sort of crime versus a non-CCW holder. With suicides, having a gun of any type handy is going to make them easier. It should be a win win for hardcore anti-gun people anyway, since they have one less 'gun nut' to worry in their sleep about.

In any case, I am a proud CCW permit holder. I carry every day and have never had need to use it. But if need arose, I would have it available. I don't like all of the whack job laws that I have to put up with in Texas, but at least that one I agree with fully.

Bruce Banner vs Bruce Jenner - Epic Rap Battles of History

Lawdeedaw says...

The premise was great. Two transformers with issues. However, the execution was horrible. Hulk said nothing about Jenner's manslaughter (Perhaps he could have thrown a car at people and it bounced over them, then he makes a pun about not killing people.) Nor did he go after Jenner's dick. It seems the SJWs really hit hard. Then again the Douglass one was hardcore SJW too.

brycewi19 said:

The premise on this one was really just below par to begin with.

The execution was also not very good. I expect better quality from the ERB guys.

I can listen to anything but "hardcore gangsta rap". I feel it was created to test huge car stereo systems and developed delusions of grandeur.

ChaosEngine said:

His point about trapping yourself in genres is excellent. It's really easy to label yourself and dismiss other genres as crap (god knows, I was guilty of it myself when I was a teenager).

But there are no bad genres, there is only bad music. Yeah, I still have very little time for most of the fluff in the charts, but that doesn't mean there isn't occasionally a great pop tune that catches my ear.
