While it would be cool, it would be rather difficult to execute.
Weight is a huge deal in these things, and adding weapons would detract from speed.
Altered reality would be very cool with an OSD, but I think that may be a little ways away yet.
Now bumping and grinding happens all the time. Multiple times I've seen quads come up from under another quad and send it spinning.
Most of the times pilots have trouble even finishing the maximum number of laps they can get before they crash. Hell a good number never make it through lap one. Also the crashes never look good through the goggles. An outside view is best. I've see quads hit a pole and shoot 150 feet in the air, spinning the whole way, only to explode in pieces when the hit about 100 yards down range. It was awesome. But from the goggles it just looked like you were inside a spinning top (A blur).

No roller rinks? There are a good 2 if no 3 or so within a 30 minute drive, and I live far out in the country where I can't even get pizza delivery because we're too far from anything. This is basically Laser Tag with VR goggles and was bound to happen sooner or later given how well Oculus and other VR outfits are working, or at least appear to be working. I'd guess the props are all lightweight foam to prevent injury. The motion tracking is the question, and I got to doubt it works as well as shown. We are still far from say the VR of Ready Player One or more advanced stuff yet though...

Bullshit, unless he is wearing a freakin' VR goggle set playing mario the phone played next to nothing in regard to why things happened the way they did.

As well, all you should stop assuming what the load he was carrying was or was not and how he did or did not speed up ( did not ).
