Wasted Guy vs. Flip Flop

ReverendTed says...

How many thousands of dollars could we save per year if, instead of breathalyzers, we just had the fuzz keep a set of flip-flops in the cruiser?

I nearly chuckled aloud when he fell out of BOTH of them at 0:48.

Been Thinking about Copyright Lately. (Blog Entry by dag)

campionidelmondo says...

I remember when I was a kid I used to tape movies that were running on TV as well as songs from the radio. I suppose that could be considered "piracy" as well nowadays, but back then there wasn't that much fuzz about it. I mean that's what VCR's were for. Couldn't watch something at the time it was playing, you'd tape it for later viewing(s).

Never had one but they had VCR'S that automatically cut out the commercials. If I'm not mistaken that's what TiVo's do? So how come storing shows and movies on your TiVo is legal but downloading them off the net is copyright infringement.

Btw, I'd love to see you reenact Avatar in some town square. I think it would be a hit. Of course you'd have to play all the parts yourself, maybe fashion costumes out of blue garbage bags. Someone would have to tape it, too. It's got #1 Sift written all over it

Man Gets Buried In His '72 Pontiac

Glenn Beck Kills a Frog

JiggaJonson says...

"Professor Doug Melton, Harvard University Biology Department, says, "If you put a frog in boiling water, it won't jump out. It will die. If you put it in cold water, it will jump before it gets hot -- they don't sit still for you." -Next Time, What Say We Boil a Consultant

So what's likely to have happened? There WAS a pot of boiling water on the table (you can see the steam throughout the video), and he did seem to pick up a frog from one of the many very real ones in the mini aquarium. I think I see a splash at 1:06 but it's hard to tell if it's either the video compression fuzzing in and out, his reflection on the inside of the pot as he moves back and forth, OR an actual splash.

The final piece of evidence? He is TELLING us he's using a real frog and after watching him cut open a fish on live TV I wouldn't put it past him. Why else would he go to all the trouble of actually boiling water and having real frogs unless he actually put one in the pot?

Poor little froggie :-(

Learning for the sake of learning just means your piss bored.
You don't hear many people say "gosh i'm so bored I think i'm going to go pick up a copy of Physics for dummies". What you do here is "im bored, lets go rent Hot Fuzz and eat some twizzlers".
Never mind the fact the whole education system, at least in the US, is a poster child of not wanting to learn. What kind of moron thought up the idea of shuffling kids around to different subjects every hour on the hour and expected it to be enjoyable. No wonder trade schools are packed of high school dropouts. Its not that they are dumb, its they are smart enough to ask the question "Why the fuck am i doing this when I can actually learn a useful skill to live by"

Actually I went back to school because I was bored...so you're right. And physics is one of my favorite subjects.

I think the problem with our school system is that we're required to choose what we want to do with our lives at such a young age. If we don't have the mind set or discipline to do this, we end up coming out of high school with nowhere to go. In many cases, when people have lived in the real world for a while, they gain the discipline and drive needed to proceed with schooling. Some do trade schooling, some find a way back into a 4 year institution. But I wouldn't necessarily say that I don't consider the things I learned in high school useful.

...Hot Fuzz and Twizzlers does sound mighty awesome, where were you the day before I signed up for my first class?

Why Is Blankfist Not on Siftquisition, or Hobbitted? (Wtf Talk Post)

campionidelmondo says...

I don't get how hobubbling him is the right response to his creation of a secondary account. I thought it was for people who are abusive in comments or go on a video killing spree (which hoboblowbubbling would prevent).

Also this whole business of "dragging it out into the public" is a downer. After all, there's no user action that can't be reversed. If a user is caught creating a secondary account, just delete his old one and let him keep the new one. That should be enough to discourage people from creating sock puppet accounts.

Edit: I'm not saying that blankfists account should be deleted, but that some clear consequences should be set and executed the next time it happens without all this fuzz and public stake burning.

Dick Dale's advice for new musicians.

volumptuous says...

Dick Dale is speaking from the perspective of not only one of the worlds great guitarists and musicians, not only from the perspective of someone who basically started the genre of surf guitar music, but also from a highly respected infamous artist.

Most people are not and will never be where he is.

I am glad I'm signed to a major. They have the PR and distribution tentacles that wrap around the globe, something I could NEVER do on my own. I am now on Amazon (in every country), iTunes, Bleep, Napster, Rhapsody, Starbucks, and every other major music outlet around the world. Again, something that almost noone could DIY.

Giving away a bunch of mp3's on myspace (or your own website which noone will ever look at) is a fools errand. It's just more noise to an ever-expanding signal. The trick is breaking through that fuzz, and getting some attention which is nearly impossible to do on your own. There are exceptions to this rule, (and I'm sure someone will say, "oh yeah, but The______Band made it just on their MySpace page!!) ... but it's pretty much "The Rule".

Bands have always given away their music for free. We call them "Demos".

Police taser man after suspect resists (or not?) arrest

White says...

i'm pretty sure if you are being arrested, and you go limp like that and do nothing to co-operate with the fuzz, you are technically resisting arrest. agreed that this is an example of an ok taser-ing. a little more warning to the man would have been nice, tho.
