As soon as I saw the words "Tea Party" I stopped reading; I am not sure what your argument is about, but I am sure it's dumb on general principle.

Your response is typical of prog-libs. The second they encounter an idea, concept, person, or philosophy that does not lie 100% flush with thier own, the standard modus-operandi is to stick their fingers in their ears and start singing "Meet The Flintstones". And you guys are the ones that call yourselves 'open-minded'? I find most truely liberal people are the most closed-minded, narrow, unthinking, and intellectually simplistic people that exist on the planet. Far more so than any fundamentalist Christian.

The difference a laugh track makes

wormwood says...

The Simpsons has no laugh track. Amazing that nobody named it yet. I think it was the first US comedy in a long time not to use one. Maybe they got away with that because it's animated, though the Flintstones did have a laugh track. Similarly, other modern animated series don't use laugh tracks (American Dad, Family Guy, Ren and Stimpy, etc.).

Also MASH banned the laugh track from the operating room in a compromise between the show makers (who wanted no laugh track at all) and the network, who insisted on it for all other scenes.

The "Ripping Yarns" DVD set comes with an optional sound track with out laugh track. I thought I would prefer the pure version, but I must (grudgingly) admit that that show seems funnier with the laugh track. It has occurred to me that "Curb Your Enthusiasm" might actually seem funnier with a laugh track, but still I am glad they don't use one--more integrity.

While I admire your absurd Fred Flintstone stubble... you, Sir, are a douche bag of the highest order. Since events of the last couple years make it statistically improbable that you are straight, (not to mention your self-presentation,) I hope, for your sake, you are wrong and that the naturally occurring and completely healthy lifestyles you are demonizing are in fact, and obviously, healthy. Please embrace your obvious self.

Signed... a non-fooled straight guy.

Thanks for asking, that's very considerate of you and appreciated. No worries about crossing paths with me, it's bound to happen and all part of the game.

Hey,
I noticed we are both mining old videos for dead, length, and thumbnail points.

I don't want to step on your turf--or anything--should I leave videos with your fingerprints on them alone?

The Flinstones pilot - The Flagstones

Sagemind says...

I was lucky enough to take my daughter to one of the last Flintstone Parks a couple of years ago before Hanna Barbara pulled all licensing rights from the theme parks. It's sad to see an era slip away.

My daughter will always have the photos as memories though... driving the bedrock cars, controlling the Fred's big purple dino crane, pumping gas from the woolly mammoth named "Ethel" Going on the log boat safari drinking cactus juice, watching the cartoons on the cave walls and so much more.

The cartoons were a blast as well - sort of the predecessors to the Simpsons..

Weird Al Yankovic - One More Minute

videosiftbannedme says...

One of my top 5 songs from Al, Yoda being the first off the same album. I went to see him in concert in 2001/2002 and couldn't believe it when he started singing this song, as it is more of a B-side. He then closed the show with Yoda. Talk about awesome.

If you ever get a chance to see him live, do it. He probably performed at least 20-25 full songs, and then did one of the polka medleys of about 20-25 of his other songs. He also did countless costume changes, including coming out in the fat suit and performed Fat, the Devo suits for Dare to be Stupid, the Flintstones suits for the Bedrock Anthem, the Jedi costumes for The Saga Begins. Clips from AlTV and The Weird Al Show on the big screen as well.

Phenomenal show.
