Escape From Tomorrow

chingalera says...

This bees a must-see!
I would guess that this debut-director's work is gonna launch a shitstorm from Disney once they figure out how to hang the guy but by then, the indelible, perceived damage to future patronage Disney paranoids may see to their parks from this guy's FAP will have been done-(Opens October 11, 2013)

"Though the filmmakers may have committed trespass when they broke Disney World's rules and if it violated the terms of entry on their tickets, the film itself is a different matter,"..."As commentary on the social ideals of Disney World, it seems to clearly fall within a well-recognized category of fair use, and therefore probably will not be stopped by a court using copyright or trademark laws."- Tim Wu, New Yorker, blog

It looks frikkin' hilarious and Disney deserves every bit of 'it', whatever 'that' is.

Yeah, he's had a hard on for me ever since I told him I wasn't interested in writing one of his screenplay ideas with him.

Bad reviews come with the territory and they don't bother most filmmakers, even when they're scathing. You have to have thick skin. Plus we were nominated for best feature in half the festivals we were accepted at and actually won best feature in two, best actor in another, among other awards. We're quite proud of the film.

RoboCop - Reboot Trailer

shuac says...

What cracks me up about these reboots is the truly strange reaction they elicit. Reactions such as, "Don't ruin RoboCop!" and "Leave my childhood alone!" and the like.

So I always enjoy pointing out that, "Did you know when they reboot a franchise, they actually DON'T touch a single frame of the original film? Not even a little? It's true! I done looked it up." (George Lucas excepted, of course).

It's as though people think the filmmakers are going to go house to house, confiscating people's DVDs and replacing them with the rebooted version. <forehead slap>

A reboot of a film will only "ruin" the original if you let it.

In other words, derp.

Bad Acting From The Last Airbender by M. Night Shyamalan

artician says...

Who keeps giving this guy money?

The latter part of this could easily be attributed to a shitty script. I think the whole film probably could (don't know, avoided it intentionally).
Did Shyamalan write the screenplay? I don't actually know. I do like the first Airbender show though (part of why I avoided the film).
Shyamalan was one of my favorite filmmakers, just for his vision, even when the film itself failed. I could appreciate his intent all the way through The Lady In The Water, but the nosedive of actual quality up to that point put me off of any more of his films. I can only appreciate initial vision to a point.
I've been eager to see After Earth, even if it sucks. I'm mildly interested in this film, but only for morbid reasons. Any time you dismiss source material, it makes you a shithead in my view (fuck you Peter Jackson).

One Good Cop Out of Many

dirkdeagler7 says...

Kudos to the last officer for being a good cop AND a good person (both are important in law enforcement!). The other officers should have been slower to act and quicker to discuss the situation, shame on them.

I do disagree with one thing the filmmakers did, which was withholding their name in some cases. I get not wanting to give up your ID or even full name, but you can at least give a first name. This isn't even about law and just cause. It's about being 2 human beings interacting and having a proper name to address each other with.

If I meet someone and theyre not willing to even give me a first name, I'll become suspicious even if I wasn't already!

Inglourious Basterds - Quentin Tarantino's Camera Angle

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clapperboard

"A clapperboard is a device used in filmmaking and video production to assist in the synchronizing of picture and sound, and to designate and mark particular scenes and takes recorded during a production. The sharp "clap" noise that the clapperboard makes can be identified easily on the audio track, and the shutting of the clapstick can be identified easily on the separate visual track. The two tracks can then be precisely synchronised by matching the sound and movement."

Horrible Job Interview

Orz says...

While I like Sagemind's explanation; perhaps mine was influenced by the purpose of what the maker of the film quotes as the reason for creating their videos in the first place.

The FlipSide
Our narrative series in which characters struggle with life's questions in both a comical and heartfelt way. Written and directed by award winning filmmaker Ben Shelton of SheltonFilms (recently of the web series "The Daly Show").

I purposefully left all of this information out of my original post of this video so that people could view it and walk away with their own opinions on what they "saw". And I eventually got to quote SeaQuest DSV; so it's all good.

Kevin Briggs - Guardian Of The Golden Gate Bridge

Trancecoach says...

The movie, called "The Bridge," is a documentary that came out in, I think, 2005 or 2006. It's compiled footage of the bridge, day after day, capturing occasionally, the (back then) statistic of about 10 or 15 people over the course of a year... The filmmaker then interviews the victims' families (and even one survivor himself) about the story behind some of those this majestic bridge tragically attracts.

OPT OUT!!

RFlagg says...

I'll upvote despite the involvement of InfoWars. Like others noted, the cops handled the situation very professionally rather than reactionary. And yeah, had the PR guy let them go about their business there would be no video. If what they filmmaker said is true, then he's been there before and that didn't make a video. It would have just been a waste of his time... unless he considers the info worth it in which case more power to him. As to Opt-out itself... don't know enough about the whole travel thing to give an informed decision.

Someone obviously couldnt make it to the end; a whole 48 seconds. Pace yourself man.>> ^Darkhand:
I learned 2 things
#1. Apparently filmmakers and/or camera operators LOVE drugs and sunsets
#2. This would have been much better if the girls were facing each other

If what I'm doing takes longer than 48 seconds I'm not doing it right!
