Afghanistan: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

even though it is entertaining watching you jokers pi$$ing on each others' shoes, anyone wasting his/her time arguing over the validity of a comedian's analysis of international diplomacy qualifies, in my books, as a fool.

Q Believers Are Murdering Their Children

newtboy jokingly says...

I can’t wait to hear @bobknight33 deny this as a false flag, then start thinking about how his own children might be lizard people, planted here to prepare for the reptilian takeover. Little does he know, the reptiles are all just working for the true ancient masters….AMPHIBIANS!!

Don’t worry, Bob. When we take over, I’ll keep you around as an entertaining pet and reminder of how gullible simians are. Aaahahaha…Bwaaaahahahaha….BWAAAHAHAHA!!

How robots could end animal captivity in zoos & marine parks

cloudballoon says...

I don't go to the zoo for the exact same reason (in additional to all the allergen triggers I want to avoid), but that doesn't mean I can will zoos into, ahem, extinction. What I'm saying is we need to remodel the whole "enclosed animals for human entertainment" industry to a conservators of protected (near-extinction or injured) animals model. That'll make school trips worthwhile for educational purposes.

Well, I don't go to zoos because I understand they're keeping wild animals in captivity for the visitor's entertainment, and in most cases I find that awful. I would be much happier seeing animatronic critters paying for wild animal rehabilitation.

But would people still goes to the zoo if they know they're seeing robots?

Zoos could keep the mandate of conserving & breeding endangered animals back to health, and get out of forcing animals to do performative shows for human entertainment and still bring in the tourism dollars and/or government funding for their good work without the unnesscasry cruelty.

Thanks…I like to think what I cook up is entertaining, even when the menu doesn’t appeal.

Not kill kill kill, but definitely a lack of sympathy if it happened to some. I have no sympathy or tolerance for nazis and fascists, and I don’t see a thing wrong with that. Their atrocities at the time were unfathomable, and the youngsters could be more zealous and hateful than the adults.
I also learned about WW2 at an early age, preschool or kindergarten, I had an uncle who fought on a mobile howitzer in almost every major battle in Europe after D day, and helped liberate one of the smaller concentration camps, I can’t recall which one off hand. I heard first hand about man’s inhumanity towards man in details too graphic for children.
It’s just my worthless opinion though, it’s not like I pass judgment at The Hague or hunt down aged nazi youths. Who cares if I don’t sympathize with one group of young soldiers’ plight from almost 80 years ago? War is hell for all involved, there’s just not enough empathy for everyone.
I think the Nazis earned my disdain, if I don’t give it to them they might try to earn it again!

Yep, I’m on the West coast, in the one spot not baking like an oven, Humboldt, Ca. coast. We’re having low 70’s but overcast. I could use some more sun and warmth.

Who was the nazi?
What are my choices? In what context?
With no criteria, there are so many to choose from… I think I’ll take Mengele for the block.

Video Shows Hot Air Balloon Crashing In New Mexico

BSR says...

I believe both these videos should go straight to the heart. If it pains anyone then that is the right response for the right reason.

Edit: Technically IMO, these videos were not posted for entertainment and were not about murder therefore not snuff. It is a tragedy.

To be fair, I often Upvote videos later deemed to be snuff. You can't use my Upvote to assume my position on this being snuff, I won't speak for others.
This one is on the line for me since there was no death on camera. It's kind of up to the community as I see it. If you get complaints (not just questions) taking it down is the respectful thing to do.
Technically IMO, the recent building collapse video is snuff more than this one since, although you can't see them, those deaths were on camera. I Upvoted it too. 🤦‍♂️

Divide by Zero on the Friden STW10 Mechanical Calculator

My grandfather had one of these, or a very similar model, when I was a kid. Division of big numbers could take several minutes of entertaining clicking and things moving around a lot.

Rick and Morty S5:E1

spawnflagger says...

I wouldn't judge it based on this new episode, but previous seasons (especially 2 & 3) were entertaining. It's formulaic, so lost it's shock-factor, but there are some long-term character development as well.
