Unreal Engine's Human CGI is So Real it's Unreal
What this company (snapperstech.com) did is put together an upgraded control "rig" to manipulate facial expressions, taking into account muscle limits and interactions, skin elasticity, etc.
A little more info in the video's YT desc :
-Adaptive rig: which allows combining any number of expressions using optimized list of blendshapes.
-Real facial muscles constraints: the advanced rig logic simulates real facial muscles constraints.
-Advanced skin shader (for Maya and Unreal): holds up to 16 wrinkles maps and 16 dynamic diffuse maps with micro details and pores stretching.
-Easy to manipulate using facial controllers and/or GUI.
-Compatible with all game engines and animation packages.
-Smooth transition between all the expressions.
-Adjustment layer: freeform manipulation of multiple regions of the face to create unlimited variations of the same expression.
The real-time rendering part is achieved by the Unreal engine itself. The final rendering performance still relies mainly on the hardware used.
Yeah, the real-time aspect of it is insanely good, although I'd still like to know how much of the rendering budget it takes up, i.e. is this usable in a game or just a research project at the moment?
What do you mean by "only one modifier is being applied"? Which is my other criticism of the video; a voiceover explaining the tech would have been more interesting than the music.
I don't believe that "multiple modifiers" would make this look better, for the simple reason that if you're demoing a technology like this, you end with ALL the bells and whistles to make it look as good as possible.
Boxer Demonstrates Hand-Eye Coordination
I don't get what is so special about this. It's on a bit of elastic, it will always come back to you no matter how you hit it, and even if you don't hit it, he's not actually juggling it like a soccer player or a hacky sack would.
Big Think: Penn Jillette lost over 100 lbs & Eats His Wants
Well yeah, it's the same as the skin sag overweight people get around their waist when they lose massive amounts. Skin elasticity can only help so much and the older you get, the less collagen and elastin you have anyway.
Im not saying he is unhealthier. I know he is healthier now, but he still looks kinda sick now. And its not only him, I see that on a lot of people that lose a lot of weight.

Is Glass a Liquid?
Glass is a fluid and a liquid (liquids are a subset of fluids). All window glasses will, given enough time, flow. The rate dependent deformation of the glass is described by its viscoelastic properties. Many stained glasses and all lead based glasses behave more viscously than elastically when compared to their modern counterparts, and thus appear to flow more, when the reality is that they just flow faster.
And lava is in fact a type of soap.
The ropes are looking a little frayed
Raging like a madman would simply have made the experience more terrifying for the kids still attached to a massive length of elastic under tension.
The rage begins once the kids are not in danger and a suitable target for the rage is apparent. Raging at the staff on the ground while the kids are in danger serves only to distract the staff (further endangering the kids) and scare the kids (further endangering the kids).
It looks like step one in their process was to release the tension in the elastic, which makes sense. If the mechanism holding them down failed while getting out of the car/cage the results would be worse for them and for anyone nearby helping them out.

Bowling Ball and Feather dropped in largest vacuum chamber
Elastic Potential Energy
Seems like no one else noticed or cared, but why is it that in the zero-air environment when they did the release the tiny "strands of feather" (I don't know what each little thread on a feather is called, if anything) looked like they were getting pushed back by air?
Am I seeing things?
It must be a hoax. They're probably on a sound stage where they faked the whole thing. Probably not even a real bowling ball.
