BMX Front Flip To Fence -Nathan Angle

newtboy says...

Really? With 2 clear angles? With rider using the spikes to lift himself?
If so, Hollywood needs to hire the editor. I'm convinced....but I am watching it on a small screen.

Let me try that again. FAAAAAAAAAKKKKEEEEEEEEEE!!111!

The Violent Left EXPOSED!

newtboy says...

So, @bobknight33, I can now show footage of Nazis shouting racist garbage and attribute it to ALL the right, yes? Because that's what this piece you've posted is. Any time you complain about that I'm just going to post a link to this post and negate your right to argue with your own post.

Finding the absolute worst of those calling themselves (or being called) 'far left' and claiming it's representative of the left as a whole. Do you not think any editor could easily create hours and hours of footage like this showing the right acting like inhuman savages, but they could include actual elected officials supporting the calls to violence and dehumanization, and just as easily attribute it all to some particular right wing organization or the right as a whole with some simple juxtaposition? Please.

This right wing trash pretends chants by a crowd or individuals are the same as an organizations platform, even when the organizations immediately and clearly denounce the chants and those shouting them. Isn't this what you complain about with the right being painted as Nazis and racists (although the right usually seems to take much longer to denounce them if ever), yet you go ahead and post the same tactic amplified from the other perspective.

I'm going to assume that, now that you're being called out on it, you'll thank me for pointing that out, and claim it was really a sly attempt to show us lefties how wrong our tactics are. This is not a genuine argument or tactic, as you would never take that stance unless you had already been called on the hypocrisy. Before that 'calling out', you appear to mean every word.

I'm calling you out, bob. This is some disingenuous garbage. You should be ashamed.

EDIT: BTW, Antifa people don't vote democrat. They think the democrats are right wingers, or at best corporate sell outs....just in case it's not feigned confusion.

CNN begs for forgiveness, Project Veritas plays its Zapruder

enoch says...

@kir_mokum

what makes the irony even more grotesque is that:

1.look at who projectveritas actually IS.it was founded by that slug james o'keefe..yes..THAT james o'keefe, and due to CNN being such an absolute failure of journalistic integrity, they just made that repulsive man actually credible again.

2.CNN had to post a massive retraction,a formal editors note and a at least three correspondents had to fall on the sword.

3.the projectveritas video has a CNN producer openly admitting that it is about the ratings, and nothing more.the russia story makes CNN money....period.

4.there is STILL no evidence of the trump administration "colluding" with russian intelligence, but there IS evidence that the russia story is being pushed by the american "deep state" to discredit,and/or control trump.

*of course this is from independent media who are not part of the corporate media tentacled network of obfuscation, propaganda and gaslighting.

5.the only media still giving the russia story any credence is american media.the rest of the world has moved on.why? no evidence.

this whole situation stinks to high fucking heaven.

Tabs v(ersu)s Spaces from Silicon Valley S3E6

gwiz665 says...

In a closed environment you should use what you agree on and stick to it. Whether it's tabs or spaces doesn't really matter, depending on what language/editors are in play. VIM vs Emacs is a waste of time, as professionals have to use something like Visual Studio anyway.

We use tabs.

Tabs v(ersu)s Spaces from Silicon Valley S3E6

Buttle says...

In my experience as a working programmer, tabs v spaces is a question of editor configuration, not typing. So, no, I don't believe he could hear it.

Conforming to the local convention on tabs v spaces isn't being anal, it's showing you want to keep your job. In particular, throwing in tabs where they are not expected results in unreadable hash.

MilkmanDan said:

I thought it was pretty clear in the show that he knew she was using spaces instead of tabs because of the sound of her repeatedly hitting the spacebar at the beginning of each line (which depending in your editor/IDE might be done automatically).

They are in a small environment, (loosely?) collaborating on code. He's anal about tabs vs spaces, and can tell that she's using the "wrong" one because of the repetitive (and annoying from his perspective) sound.

Put programmers together in a confined space, and they'll grate on each other over style issues / noise levels / music / whatever. I find the show extremely accurate in portraying the general atmosphere or feel of software development, if occasionally accenting or misportraying some details in the interest of making it good TV.

The film, however, makes no sense, because the only way you can find out about a fundamental disagreement on spaces v tabs is by opening someone else's file in your editor, and finding the indentation all messed up. It's not something you can tell by looking over a shoulder.

Tabs v(ersu)s Spaces from Silicon Valley S3E6

Buttle says...

It does have to do with writing code.

I have to deal with a source code repository that's full of tabs at work every day. Indentation for code may be composed of spaces and tabs, or spaces only. If tabs are present, then everyone working with the code has to use the same tab width setting, otherwise the indentation will be fubar.

If two people save edits using a different tab width setting, then there really is no way of fixing it up beyond auto-indenting it all and saving with a consistent tab setting.

The advantage of tabs is saving a few bytes on file size, which is completely undetectable in today's world of html email and xml everything.

The film, however, makes no sense, because the only way you can find out about a fundamental disagreement on spaces v tabs is by opening someone else's file in your editor, and finding the indentation all messed up. It's not something you can tell by looking over a shoulder.

The difference between emacs and vi, by the way, is that emacs has several good vi emulations, but it would be laughable to think of an emacs emulation in vi.

Emacs used to seem a completely outsized pig of a program, but in our modern times it's actually tiny. Still, you would expect a vi-champion to want tabs instead of spaces, not vice versa.

Not a lot of understanding displayed here, I'm afraid.

Don't think i've ever used a tab outside filling in a form or playing video games. Does the tab thing have more to do with writing code?

Once Upon a Time in Venice Trailer

Drachen_Jager says...

Has Hollywood just entirely lost its shit?

I have no idea whether that movie is good or bad from the trailer. It's a cobbled together mess of action and dialogue that makes no sense in the context provided here.

I am so frustrated with big budget movies. There's so much garbage coming out of the studios these days and trailer editing like this doesn't help me as a consumer, it just turns me off the whole process. Like that Cloak and Dagger trailer that's also floating around. I want to like it, but I have no idea what it is based on the trailer. Considering how important trailers are to commercial success, you'd think they could hire a half-way competent editor to put them together.

Argh!

How Russia Stopped The Blitzkrieg

SFOGuy says...

key terms:

Defense in depth: multiple layers of anti-tank guns interwoven with mines, trenches, infantry, and artillery already registered and aimed at killing zones in front of the obstacles. No single hard crust; rather, more like the layers of an armored onion; as you peel one layer, the next one pops up.

"Pak belt": the reference term for anti-tank guns.

Commissar: the political officer who will shoot any man who retreats from their defense of the motherland.

"Shoulders": the sides of the place in the line pierced by the first plunge of the blitzkrieg that have to held by the defense in order to slow it and give the counterattack a wide open flank to punch into.

Reliability: new German tank models were rushed into battle at Kursk at Hitler's direct insistence before they had been debugged. The battle started 6 days after the last just-barely-not-a-prototype Panther had been delivered to the front. The battle began with 184 Panthers on the rolls; by day two, there were 40 operational; by day 5, there were 10 total...

https://tankandafvnews.com/2015/02/08/from-the-editor-panther-reliability/

Ironically, the decision to delay the battle by two months, giving the Soviets time to build up all of their defenses (digging trenches and anti-tank obstacles takes time)--was made to make it possible for the Panther to get to the front..

Tribbles BAR FIGHT Side-by-Side Comparison

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

I wasn't much of a DS9 fan but I love this episode for the audacity. They did a great job at editing this in. An editor's master class for sure.

Why are you ‘In’ a movie but ‘On’ a television?
