Orlando Police Believe They’re Above The Law

newtboy says...

I really would agree….but only if that goes for everyone. No need to ever do a high speed chase or felony stop if you have the license and a photo of the driver….but that’s not how they operate.

Guaranteed if that wasn’t a cop, gun would be drawn, hands would go on, cuffs would go on, and in most cases feet would go into belly too for disrespecting their authority and trying to run. In no world would they be as calm and non confrontational with the public. I got all but the foot in the belly because a cop read my license plate wrong once, couldn’t tell a “5” from an “S”, then threatened me with unspecified retaliation if I complained…he said remember he had my address now if I cause him any trouble over this.

My point is the “good cop” gave the bad criminal cop treatment he never would give a citizen…if he did he would lose his job. It’s the preferential treatment I’m upset about. Criminal cops should be treated like the worst, most violent and vile criminal, because they are. Instead, they’re treated with kid gloves, given every benefit of a doubt and then some, and are given free vacation time on those few occasions they have anything at all happen for violating the law and the public trust. It’s an incredibly rare thing when the entire department doesn’t stand behind, and in front of shielding blatantly abusive criminal cops and attacking/harassing any accusers, which is chilling for any that might want to be “good cops”.

Why wouldn’t it be the right thing to do to let a violent aggressive and reckless speeder (in this case he was guilty of reckless evading, a felony) who is armed just scream at the cop and drive away? Because that’s shirking their duty to enforce the law. Have you ever heard of them doing any such thing (when it wasn’t one of their own)?

Orlando Police Believe They’re Above The Law

newtboy says...

Kinda.
A good cop would treat the obvious bad cop like anyone else…meaning pull his gun on the driver that tried to flee the stop, pull him out violently and face down in the street at gunpoint, and handcuff him.
It would mean taser the armed guy jumping out of the car yelling, taser the guy refusing to comply, and if he still gets back in the car shoot his tires at a minimum, deploy pepper spray, and taze the ever loving shit out of him until the batteries die. That’s how they treat the public.
It doesn’t mean letting him do whatever he feels like and just watching and reporting it. Granted, that alone is improvement, but it’s still not “good”.

Good cops don’t let felonious drivers jump out to curse at them, refuse to comply, and leave without chase.

According to Bob, the speeding cop should have been shot just for not following orders. I almost agree…he should have been shot for fleeing a felony stop like anyone else would have been.

Segway - Why It Failed

cloudballoon says...

It "failed" because it was marketed in the most American way possible. Hyped up by "revolutionaies" as if it's the Next Best Thing after the invention of round wheels and with claims that the driver can't fall over, etc., it can't but destined to fail.

Man Rips Up His Cash Over Seat Belt Ticket

visionep says...

Quick google search, since I never really looked at the legal liability side pf this issue before.

Some states actually hold drivers accountable for not wearing their seatbelts and discount the payout for injuries, others don't allow insurance companies to consider whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt or not when looking at their injuries. (California discounts, Pennsylvania doesn't)

I think you are understating the societal impact of obesity compared to drivers getting more badly injured without seatbelts. To be clear I don't think the government should be regulating either.

newtboy said:

Perhaps not, but we don’t live in a free society, nor a responsibility free society.

The effects are not low. The difference in cost of a serious car crash with and without seatbelts is in the hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars.

Again, because you can be “at fault” through no fault of your own, and responsible for all injuries the other driver suffers, it’s not just smart but the only responsible move to be forced to wear them and minimize the shared risk.
It’s 100% unfair for the other driver to be allowed to take the high risk of not wearing it but you have to pay for the consequences of their irresponsibility….don’t you think?
The difference here as opposed to, say, obesity is the risk/consequences of the irresponsibly transfer to others regularly and often completely (at least financially).

If not wearing it was an automatic waiver for any and all bodily injury damages, fine, but it isn’t so being forced to wear it is the only sane and rational move. Because that choice can turn a no damage bump into injuries requiring life long care

There is shared risk if you look deep enough in all activities that people engage in throughout their lives. Newtboy's assertion that these types of activities should be regulated because of their knock-on effects doesn't seem practical in a "free" society.

The reason I don't understand why this is a law is because the affects to society are so low and are similar to many other unregulated choices people are allowed to make. The inconsistency is painful.

Seat belts will better help keep you in control of your vehicle after a collision. If your car rolls over or you go sideways into a tree it helps keep you from back, head and neck injuries which could leave you with pain and mobility issues long after the crash. I also see it as being very selfish to your family and loved ones who potentially may have to care for you if you survive, in which case you will be very annoyed and annoying.

It should be mandated by government because some people think they are the best drivers ever.

Does any of your family members drive the disabled alarm car?

Forcing adults to wear them does nothing for public safety, it's a personal safety issue which shouldn't be mandated by the government.

LOL. So I made a point to you, there is no one so uninformed. Nor is there another so devoid of knowledge and facts than yourself.

It’s a FACT they are still losing major market share at rates other car companies aren’t…in fact others are gaining.
It’s a FACT they lowered prices 6 times now, and continue to drop in sales.
It’s a FACT that now that they have competition, they aren’t in demand and don’t hold their value like the competition does.
It’s a FACT that I called the crash before it happened while you were telling people to buy all in at over $400 per share, and I continued to warn it was insanely overpriced and a bubble waiting to pop….I was 100% correct. Economists expect it to continue to fall, Forbes indicates it may well be headed for $25 a share, definitely still falling.

I must follow Tesla better than you, because my predictions have come to pass and yours were all fantasy that never materialized. I think you listen to Elon, who has proven to be a total disastrous idiot who’s destroyed his own companies, not the tech genius he once appeared to be.
You simply cannot ever admit you were w-w-w-w-wrong. A sign of massive insecurity.

Um…operating margin dropped FROM 19% to 11%. Operating capitol dropped even more. Price drops aren’t improving slumped sales. Massive recalls are not only making customers unhappy, they are turning off new customers. Poor construction is not up to industry standards and new non Teslas are. Drivers assist has just been convicted on a $3 million injury/damage claim (with more in the pipeline while other companies roll out theirs.
Worst of all is Elon himself, who decided to become a public personality figure, exposing his far right politics to his left leaning customer base, his willingness to take any government handout while decrying them at every turn, his unbelievably bad business sense, his douchbaggyness and constant hypocrisy, and his penchant to pretend his best case scenario is a guaranteed future. He, more than any two factors combined, is responsible for the slump in sales and crash of Tesla and Twitter.

You blame the 2020 economy, but every other ev manufacturer is doing much better. You say they made 420000 cars q1 23…maybe true, but what good are they when they only sold 181,000. Making all those poorly constructed cars comes at a major loss. Derp.

bobknight33 said:

To the uninformed you make a point. One based on no knowledge of facts.
Truly you do not follow TESLA.

Stock fell mainly due to their gross margin only being 19%. Typically they they have been running at around 26%

The economy is sucking and adjustments are being made by Tesla.
On investor day they indicated that they would sacrifice gross margin in order to keep on the path of rapid growth. Their growth target is go from 2022 1.4 million to 2023 1.8 +million vehicles made. Q1 they made roughly 420K.

Fartwell gets call out

Traitor Greene -- What spy did she sleep with or what spy was her driver?

" Salwell slept with Feng, there’s zero evidence of that," --- Really Shes slept her way around with Democrat politicians in CA and finally ended up dicking fartwell.

Look Democrats suck and are Anti American.
They enslave blacks and only want their vote.
They push gender bending and false climate change.

Only blind ignorant people vote democrat.

newtboy said:

Open legs to all cumers “family values” slut and Q nutjob Traitor Greene made another baseless accusation based on extreme far right propaganda and nothing more, and because civility, decorum, truthfulness, ethics, morals, and house rules mean less than getting a playground dig at a political opponent, Greene waived the rules of conduct and ethics that don’t allow slander for her and ignored it, tabling the issue herself without hearing the legitimate appeal. Big surprise. She was quickly silenced because she couldn’t control herself though and had her words taken down and lost her time in committee.
Now watch her cry a river over her unending line of affairs with anyone that can get a medically assisted boner and hold their lunch long enough to have sex with a failed sex reassignment case being brought up, but crickets about this baseless infantile accusation.

We all know Traitor Greene tried to sleep with Russian oligarchs but was turned down. We all know she tried to sleep with Saudis but was laughed at. We all know she’s a sloppy, manly slut for anyone BUT her husband. We all know Traitor Greene hates transexuals because her surgeries turned out so horrific.

We don’t know Salwell slept with Feng, there’s zero evidence of that, only that she worked for him for a short time,( just like we never had evidence of the pizza pedophile ring she railed against, the Jewish space lasers she said cause wildfires, the mind control microscopic computer chips Bill Gates put in the vaccines somehow, the crisis actors pretending to be school shooting victims…the list of absolute insanity she spouts on the floor is endless)…and never ending evidence of Traitor Greene sleeping with anyone that can/will have her while abandoning her husband and children and job to sneak around screwing gym owners, sex gurus, reporters, etc, etc, etc. opening herself up to blackmail.

Best Things About Being Blind

spawnflagger says...

I think it's for when a sighted driver (family, friend, etc) drives them somewhere, they can park closer to the door. Probably they don't issue handicapped license plates to blind people, but rather just the hang-tags you put on rearview mirror.

Tesla Cam captures INSANE crash

cloudballoon says...

Not an expert, but it could be a domino effect of a loose screw scenario, causing all the screws to be snapped off. Here in Toronto (Canada), we've seen significance increases of fatal accidents of these type because of (mostly truck's) poor maintenance causing wheels flying off & killed people. It's the driver's (or trucking companies') fault. The interviewed Police usually warn viewers that because we here often need (and should!) change between summer/winter tires, we need to make sure the tires are balanced and the screws are properly tightened. The garages usually wash their hands off from accident liabilities and insurance companies rarely go after the garages as well.

visionep said:

I hope everyone escaped without long term injuries.

I wonder how liability works in a case like this.

Possible scenarios:
1. Freak accident, no one is liable.
2. Truck owner is liable, but only because they modified their car from manufacturer spec?
3. Truck manufacturer is liable, faulty construction?
4. State or federal government is liable because of something in the road that make the truck's tire fall off.
5. After market kit provider or after market kit installer is liable because their modification lead to the failure that caused the tire to come off.

I wonder how it all worked out.

Girl Demands To Be Arrested When Her Best Friend Gets an OWI

newtboy says...

While I agree about not trusting police, I posted many of those videos btw, she wasn’t concerned that something untoward would happen to her friend that she was somehow going to prevent, imo. Those police were being quite professional. She wasn’t going to even see her after their arrest, so they said.
She was drunk and got a crazy idea she wouldn’t let go of is what I saw. She’s definitely not used to hearing “no”.

My argument is people should get the same response male or female, black, white, or green, and that any non white female acting like she was wouldn’t be likely to get off so easily and near consequence free.
Do I think she needed prison for this behavior, no, but do I think she needs 20 hours of community service or probation instead of a small fine daddy will pay, yes. I knew kids that got much much worse than that for just simple alcohol possession/drunkenness as a minor. In Cali when I was a teen they took your license until you were at least 21 for any underage drinking, even if you weren’t driving.
I think in a fair world she would be made to understand she has to live by the same laws we all do by having some consequence, not to expect to get special treatment because she’s (apparently) rich, white, and cute….but I understand that’s unrealistic to expect.

The driver needs some jail time if I understand correctly and she was driving recklessly at what ended up being a .20% bac. That’s sloshed.

Hef said:

Um... what!?
Best I can tell, this young person was just concerned for the wellbeing of her friend, and given the number of videos that we see on the Sift of cops showing that they absolutely cannot be trusted, I think that's fair enough.

If your argument is that it's wrong that her boyfriend would probably get much worse treatment for the same behaviour, then you've phrased it really strangely, but I agree; we need fewer people caught up in the justice system for minor stuff, not more, regardless of gender or race.

Good on the cops in this case for getting the balance right and only charging the idiot who got drunk and endangered others by getting behind the wheel.
