The 'Worlds First Flying Car'

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Now imagine lots full of these ugly cars with those neon colored action bubble sale stickers. $20,000 off!!!
Test drives with helmets and parachutes.

Picking the kids up from soccer practice.

High speed car chases that turn into aerial dogfights.

The sheer number of drunk driver/fliers. " Don't worry man. It's not that far a flight."

Or worse, the SUV model.

You wouldn't expect a dog fight to be this funny

I'm amazed to see this on videosift.

Payback is correct, dogs that dont fight get killed, probably happened to these two minutes later. Theres a lot of money changes hands between the sick fucks that enjoy dogfighting, and dogs that lose, or worse still, dont even fight, are killed.

Theres also the fact that these two dogs made their tiny-dicked owners look like fools in front of an audience.

Go watch some videos about dogfighting if you think this is funny and watch dogs being beaten to death or electrocuted or drowned for doing a "better" job than these two.

Sick and disgusting.

Fuck you jaded shitbags. This is a dogfight. I down-voted because it's disgusting, and because the tags are terrible as well. Sports? Really?

You can call it a "useful skill" to be so desensitized by violence to call this comedy, but I call it pathetic.

The only thing failing here is your humanity.

Least ridiculous is clearly "pictures of dogfights above London, the Battle of Britain" because that footage EXISTS! See this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0-fVLCnsBs

These newsreels contain footage of German formations from the ground (1:00) as well as in air footage from the fighters as a German bomber is shot down (6:15).

Ok, to be pedantic, I don't know if it's above London, and it's not great quality. But gun cameras were widespread in World War 2

So it's not at all a ridiculous request.

Maddow on the F-22 Raptor

I know that one of those failures was caused by a pen that fell out of a crew chief's pocket and was sucked into the intake, completely fouling the engine. Foreign Object Debris(FOD) is a problem for all aircraft but I've seen lots of crap scraped out of an F-18 and some of it was probably a pen at one point. Most aircraft just chew that stuff up and you don't notice it until it's time for maintenance. This actually grounded the plane.

Also, I should point out that the F22 isn't really a "nimble dogfighter" in the traditional sense. If you're flying circles around other planes in one of these then you have failed as an F22 pilot. While it is in theory a decent dogfighter it's intended that it never be in a dogfight, having shot down the enemy aircraft long before establishing visual contact and ideally without them ever knowing where the missile came from.

Yeah, that failure rate seems... Well, unbelievable. In fact I don't believe it until they elaborate. And I thought one of the points of the F35 was that it was an "F22 Lite" the USA could afford to sell to other countries without revealing all their super secret technology? Though now it seems they were just too embarrassed to let anyone see it.

Air supremacy fighters are pretty much a moot point in todays warfare anyway. The face of warfare has changed so much in the last 20 or so years it's difficult to imagine a conflict where a nimble dogfighter would be necessary for success. Still, I liked the idea of the F22. Though I would have preferred the RAH-66 Comanche to see the light of day, maybe they could've afforded that one if the F22 had been given up early. That thing was stunning and the old Kiowa (I understand that the Comanche was supposed to be a recon chopper, a replacement for the Kiowa, at least partially. If you know better feel free to correct me.) really is getting old.

My "flight experience" is solely with simulators so devalue my opinions accordingly.

I always found the 262 to be too fast for dogfighting. It was great for hitting bombers which were practically stationary targets, but it was very difficult to get a bead on another fighter before you shot past them.

The P-51 is quite fast and powerful, of course, but not especially maneuverable. USAF craft generally weren't as agile as RAF and Luftwaffe craft, IMO. Of course, by the time the Mustang saw heavy service, the US was on heavy offense. It was necessary to sacrifice some maneuverability in exchange for increased flight range for bombing runs and escorts.

As for the guy at the end stating that the Mustang is the WW2 plane everyone wants to fly, I say "fuck no." Give me a Spitfire XIV any day.

George Lucas sucks, or: one of the many reasons why the new trilogy is so much worse than the old (Blog Entry by Sarzy)

Sagemind says...

I agree 100% with this photo - The first trilogy used technology without showboating. The new trilogy felt more like a showcase for the new technology!

I missed the latex and animatronics, I missed the Yoda puppet, I missed the Jabba puppet. I missed all the wonderful possibilities that modern technology could have done to the model making and creature creation.

I think the dogfights were much more interesting in the new trilogy but that just made them spend too much time on them showing us all the wonderful things they could do. Episode One should have been called "Star Wars: Podracing!"

What's funny is how distracted and concerned you people are with all this vacuous bickering. You could be doing actual research right now, reading books on economics and looking at rational arguments on both sides... nope, let's have dogfights about which media outlet is more biased and get sucked into the whole sociopolitical gender/race crap that isn't going to mean two fucks when the shit really hits the fan.

I personally think you're doing both parties a favor. As long as you're consumed in class/religious warfare chasing scapegoats they've laid out for you, both parties can continue to inflate and subsidize and borrow and increase the footprint of government as they have for most of the century.
