Last Week Tonight - FIFA 2: The Bribening

dannym3141 says...

Ding dong the witch is gone!!

When he stepped down he stated that it had absolutely nothing to do with ongoing prosecutions and investigations about corruption at FIFA. And he did so with a straight face, somehow.

Just your everyday harassment, courtesy of the NYPD

Thoughts? Comments?

Lantern, what as that you said about "blah blah, black president. ding dong, racism is over."

Looking forward to how you'll mock & dismiss this as..
"totally not racist" or "imaginary, not an actual problem".

Real Time with Bill Maher: Ding Dong Racism Is Dead

GenjiKilpatrick says...

So I been avoiding layin' into the racists on the site for a bit.
Because it's like fighting with a brick wall with your forehead, stupid and bad for my health.

But this point - 1:36 - about how racists are much more politically correct than openly, unapologetically racist is true.

@lantern53
@bobknight33
@quantumushroom
@Trancecoach
And @shinyblurry if I remember correctly

Most of the comments these numbskulls post are inherently racist as fuck.

But they always use the excuse of some political or religion cop-out, like.

"If black people started voting Republican, instead of supporting Libtard Democrats who only want to keep them poor.."

I'm convinced they all think, on a daily basis:
"Well my white, middle-class life was tough. And I overcame!

I know! Better take to the interwebs and give those silly black folks some advice.

Yeah, some helpful, common sense advice like.. GET A JOB YOU LAZY VIOLENT SAVAGES!

Wow, ahem.. excuse me...

But really, your struggles are just imaginary black people.

Stop complaining about the VIOLENT THUGS erm.. questionably innocent people the police murder because they definitely deserved it.

Besides black people kill black people all the time, I heard on Fox News once.

So it's definitely not okay to make a big fuss when Law Enforcement Office very clearly unlawfully execute one of you coons.. er.. folks.

Just get up off your lazy asses and vote. It's always worked for me and my elder white voting block friends who are in no way disenfranchised by our current voting laws ."

*Crack knuckles, dusts shoulders*

"Yuuup. Good thing I helped those ignorant jiggaboos understand how the world REALLY is.

And that's why White Americans are god's SUPERIOR chosen people.

Oh yeah! and clearly no I said can be construed as racist because I'm not because Obama is the first black president.

..an UNTRUSTWORTHY, FOREIGNER who's really from KENYA or INDONESIA (you know, one of those icky brown countries) and that DOESN'T STAND FOR MURICA VALUES!!

But he's blackish and the president so, see.

Ding Dong! No racism here."

Anywho have fun jerk your collect bigot boners about how i'm wrong.

How blacks are just as equals as whites because you say so.

How your not racists even tho you say shit only racist say.. ugh.

Howdy

Had a question that I wanted to ask before, that I never got round to before I dinged silver, but still could potentially confuse new and/or bronze people.

On this page, just below the new badges, in the "Other Changes" section, 3rd bullet point, Dag mentions that now Bronze Stars can submit videos from any source. However on this page, under Silver Star Member, it says can submit flash video from any source.

My query therefore is, is it Bronze or Silver that grants you this privilege?

Anti-Michael Brown Song By Retired Fed. Investigator

bobknight33 says...

Your not Newtboy you neutered boy. Time for you to grow up and grow a pair.

No it is not Racist not one bit racist. Bad taste maybe but not racist.

Michael Brown was a thug that struggled with a cop for his gun and it went off. The gentle giant then ran 30 ft got shot then charged back towards then cop and received some corrective measures for failing to stop charging the cop that lead to to his justified death.

The song, depending which side of the fence you are on can be disgusting or funny entertainment.

Like Ding Dong the witch is dead. is not appealing to witches but fun for all others to sing.
If Bill Burr told this story like the song you would be laughing you ass off.

AS for the room fool of cops not dissenting. How dumb can you be. Why on earth should they be upset?

Why bring up the NY mayor? He is an anti cop fool, elected by fools.

Man up Neutered Boy. Your on the loosing side of reality.

newtboy said:

So if it's not blatantly Racist (why the capital R?), any disgusting, disrespectful, inflammatory thing someone wants to say is fine? I disagree.

Think about how the NYPD reacts to the mayor being honest by saying that he told his black son to be careful around officers and not scare cops into (over)reacting. They've acted as if he shot the officers himself, or actively supported such actions, just because he didn't stand firmly in 100% full support for all police actions.
"My group" won't be making any praise songs for killing anyone that's not a convicted (or well known) mass murderer. I won't speak for any other groups, and mine is a group of one. ;-)
The issue is more the reaction of the room full of cops over the disgusting act of one ex fed. I didn't hear one boo, and not one person left. I somehow feel the reaction would be far stronger against a song in support of Obama in that room...that might get violent.

Gasoline to Natural Gas Conversion

oritteropo says...

Why on earth would you put the fill port right at the front where one little ding is going to get you a gas leak? Safety doesn't seem to be his priority.

I've never heard of a petrol car being converted to LNG. Around here we mostly use LPG for petrol car conversions and only run diesels on LNG (they still need some diesel, but use 65%-95% LNG)... but then, in Australia virtually every petrol station sells LPG.

Anti-Gun PSA Makes the Case for Women With Guns

rancor says...

Ding! I can't believe how many people come back to this argument strategy nowadays. In the last few years, it has just stunned me that issues like gay marriage bans were put up to POPULAR VOTE. Hurts my brain. It hurts worse when those votes pass, too, but that's why things like civil rights aren't supposed to be put in that position.

But of course let's not forget guns aren't people. Lots of dangerous stuff gets banned, mostly because we don't have a constitutional amendment (and lots of $$$) to defend them.

My main hope for the future is that both sides cope with the fallacies of their OWN arguments and work towards reasonable compromise. The laws should be narrowly focused to combat criminal behavior, while allowing responsible law-abiding citizens reasonable freedoms for hobbies and self-defense! Oh it sounds so simple.

You've just countered your own point. The "majority" of Americans (and indeed humans in general) are and have frequently wrong on just about every issue in history.

Colbert responds to #CancelColbert

andyboy23 says...

No arguments there on the good at math idea not being funny... I never suggested such an option. What would have been good funny alternative bits for Colbert to have done could be a separate conversation I think (good satire punches up, etc).
I appreciate your personal note. It indeed jives with what one of my Asian American friends told me- they don't find particularly offensive either. This friend also mentioned that their experience is not equal to every Asian American experience though. For others, it seems that it stings quite significantly. So I don't think this is case closed.

The question I posed with my analogy still stands -- while this is not true for yourself or my friend, for some people of Asian descent, "the Ching Ching ding dong foundation for cultural sensitivity" might be offensive on a level similar to how it would have been for Blacks if he had used "The cotton-picking nigger foundation for cultural sensitivity". How many? Maybe that number is at 10%. Maybe that number is at .1%. Maybe that number is at 50%. I have no idea. How do we as a society figure whether that is the case? I think we do it by having a big old dialog where a lot of people of Asian descent are involved.

Instead what I see is a whole lot of posturing, sabre-rattling, and band wagon jumping from people that are not of Asian decent and therefore have no personal experience with this particular form of racism to bring to bear on the matter. Those people should be primarily listening and asking questions, not posturing and sabre-rattling.

I would maintain that in order for the satire to be effective, it actually needs to use offensive terminology. Clearly folks are already upset about the word "Redskins" (otherwise we wouldn't be hearing any of this), but not enough folks that anything is being done about it. To draw attention to how offensive it may be to those affected, he's using other, very offensive terms as a direct comparison. It simply wouldn't have any effect if he joked about "The Stephen Colbert Culturally Good at Math Foundation".

Also, on a personal note, I grew up with all the terms I mentioned in my first comment, and found them hurtful and offensive. I haven't, however, encountered them used as anything but clear satire for a very long time (a handful of exceptions in the past 15 years), and I personally find it takes a lot of the sting out hearing the phrases themselves made ridiculous, hearing people publicly accept that they're ignorant and offensive, and seeing people who would use them to sincerely hurt someone quickly ridiculed and shamed. So, still backing Colbert on this one.
