WTF Cops?! - Two Racist Texts and a Lie

newtboy says...

I'll disagree.
Non-racists don't make racist jokes. Period. They are disturbed by racist speech, they don't play around with it with friends for fun.
Perhaps you aren't overtly racist, perhaps you consciously make an effort to not discriminate against other races. You could still be racist.
There are many levels of racism.
I think what you describe is a form of what's called 'tacit racism', where (at least publicly) you don't say racist things, but aren't disturbed by others saying them, certainly not enough to say so.
Consider....when someone makes a bad taste, but funny, racist joke in public, do you glare at them, or smile at them, or both? If you find humor in degrading other races, even in private, that's a form/level of racism...IMO. (I think most people will fall into that category of being 'slightly racist', including myself to be perfectly honest, while trying to not let that make them discriminate against others or act on that racism)
Maybe I misunderstand you, but that's how it sounded to me.

The only thing I will say is just because blatantly racist jokes are said, that doesn't automatically mean someone is racist.

You didn't say "she's a fraud"
you didn't say "she's a con artist"
You said she degrades and denigrates sex workers...so show me more than the single quote 'prostituted women' to prove it, or is that really all you got, like I'm beginning to believe?

Just read the titles of your videos and see that not one is on that topic, not one.

She's a con-artist whose tactics are damaging to the issues, causes, & movements she claims to advocate.

If anyone can succinctly explain how her history, tactics & actions don't amount to fraud, I'll concede & never speak out about her on the sift again.

Otherwise, I feel like it's an imperative to inform everyone - who finds her or her campaigns/messages relevant - of the behavior that Sarkeesian displays.

Con-artists should be called out.

No matter how politically progressive their platform might be.

Peace, happy debating.

Anti-Michael Brown Song By Retired Fed. Investigator

newtboy says...

Dude...can you read? Please try again. I did not say it was racist. I said things do not have to be racist to be disgusting. Just wow. Talk about low reading comprehension.

If you only believe the cop testimony, perhaps. Since the DA threw the grand jury case, we'll never know, because it will never see a court room. That's not the series of events reports say the other 38 witnesses testified to seeing.

Songs laughing about killing unarmed people, and comparing them to road kill is only entertainment for disgusting people. Odd that all the cops found it entertaining...or perhaps it's not.
They should be upset because making fun of killing other people is disgusting, especially in the current climate where cops are trying to look human and humane, this shows their true colors when they think no one is watching, they laugh at killing unarmed people and take pleasure in it while dehumanizing the dead victims and their families. That's why any thinking person with a conscience would be upset. Duh.

I brought up the NY mayor because you brought up the NYPD cops. The way the cops are treating the mayor, who is not anti cop, but is simply not 100% behind every cop action, is infantile and disgusting. It shows how they can't accept any criticism without completely over-reacting in the worst ways, like big babies with guns.

Oh Bob. You might want to back off on the attempted insults and stick to the topic. (It just so happens that I'm fixed, not neutered, please learn the difference. Neutered males do not 'grow a pair' back, fixed males still have their testicles.) Your attempt at insult failed miserably on all fronts, but I'll still give you 'credit' for trying to be smarmy and clever.
It seems you're going the way of Chingalera here...and we all know what happened when he put the Newt in his mouthy parts. (it's the same thing that happens to anything that tries to bite a Newt, we just come crawling back out of your dead mouth unharmed!) He thought he was a big man too, with his smarmy insulting nastiness...didn't work out too well for him.

Considering how you see 'reality', I sure hope I look to be on the wrong side to you. I would hate to think I'm somehow in step with you or @Trancecoach. Many thinking people here do not have the highest opinions of your ilk.

EDIT: If Bill Burr told this story, he would not have talked about Michael Brown in those disgusting, degrading, dehumanizing ways. Bill is not an asshole. He might have found a way to make it funny, but not degrading or dehumanizing. This guy is no Bill Burr.

bobknight33 said:

Your not Newtboy you neutered boy. Time for you to grow up and grow a pair.

No it is not Racist not one bit racist. Bad taste maybe but not racist.

Michael Brown was a thug that struggled with a cop for his gun and it went off. The gentle giant then ran 30 ft got shot then charged back towards then cop and received some corrective measures for failing to stop charging the cop that lead to to his justified death.

The song, depending which side of the fence you are on can be disgusting or funny entertainment.

Like Ding Dong the witch is dead. is not appealing to witches but fun for all others to sing.
If Bill Burr told this story like the song you would be laughing you ass off.

AS for the room fool of cops not dissenting. How dumb can you be. Why on earth should they be upset?

Why bring up the NY mayor? He is an anti cop fool, elected by fools.

Man up Neutered Boy. Your on the loosing side of reality.

Useless, Dangerous Toilet Paper Machine

bareboards2 says...

Have you not been following the efforts of sewer maintenance departments around the globe to educate folks on what can be put into a toilet? Moist towelettes are not something one should flush.

Paper, folks. Poo and paper is the only thing that should go into sewers.

We are wasting millions of dollars every year in maintenance because non-degradable stuff is getting flushed.

This PSA brought to you by Flush Away Safely.

10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman

Sagemind jokingly says...

What ever you do, NEVER try to meet anyone outside while they are walking.
That's harassment. You need to be introduced to a woman by one of her family members, that's the only way, you can meet someone.

(Just talking to her isn't harassment until you degrade her by saying inappropriate things. Yes, some comments were unwarranted. but not all comments were harassment.)

slow motion tattoo

newtboy says...

From the little I know, the intent is to penetrate to about the middle of the outer skin layer, below the layers that shed but not so deep you can't see the ink anymore. It's a fine line.
There is degradation of the image from skin shedding, worse from sunburns, but for normal people it's not so bad that the image erases, only lightens and 'spreads' so it's not as crisp. At least that's what I've heard and seen from friends I know with many tattoos and from watching TV shows and reading books about it, I have none myself.

VoodooV said:

so someone school me.

Those needles don't look like they're penetrating much at all. how come all that ink doesn't wear away when we inevitably shed skin cells either through sunburns or just the passage of time?

Spider-Woman's Big Ass Is A Big Deal - Maddox

entr0py says...

True, I think the intention behind the two covers is very different, even if the results are similar. In the Spider-man cover, he looks like a spider who has already wrapped up his helpless terrified prey. And if you know about spiders you know what happens next, it's pretty nasty. The real spider in the lower right corner helps drive home the impression.

Where as with the Spider-woman cover I don't have any real doubt that Milo Manara was trying to make her sexy; that's kind of his thing. He's best known as an erotic artist and his artwork ranges from pinup girl to pretty hardcore porn (which I enjoyed as a young man). Check out his Wikipedia page and the first thing you'll see is that that pose is not one he's new at drawing.

I think where critics go wrong is the idea that sexiness implies sexism. If she were both drawn as sexy and being degraded or made fun of that would qualify as sexism. But there's got to be some room for sensuality without automatically feeling it's a personal insult to all women.

The Spiderman cover is actually kinda creepy, it looks like he got over excited and entrapped all those poor criminals in a big ball of Spidey Sperm.

God loving parents give gay son a choice

newtboy says...

To me it's not about his having to move out, it's that his family is angrily disowning him forever because of who he is (what kind of idiocy is it to think people choose to be ostracized, disowned, discriminated against, degraded, attacked, etc....?).
When your mother asked you to move out, did she also tell you to never come home, not to call or contact her or the family, and that there will be no support or contact from your parents or siblings from here on out? If not, it's a different situation.
I was thrown out during my senior year in high school (got my GED and went on to college while I worked) for being behind on one homework assignment. I didn't even cry to my family about it, I just went to work and lived on a friends couch for a year. Even with that animosity, my family didn't disown me, and was there for me later in life, so my situation was also not as bad as his.
That said, I also don't understand him getting funding.

visionep said:

This is not a kid, he is a young man at 19 years old. Why is everyone so sad for him that he has to go live on his own? $60K on the go fund me site is ridiculous.

When I was 18, a few months after graduating high school, my mom asked me to move out because I was coming home to late. (Fortunately it wasn't quite the heated discussion this guy had to endure) Should I have been crying to everyone I knew about how unfair it was and that my mom didn't love me?

I agree that this guy's parents are horrible and ignorant, but I don't feel bad for this guy. He is an adult and needed to get away from those people if he was going to have any chance of not being like them. If anything being gay will help him move away from the ignorance that he was raised with and hopefully make him a better human than his parents.

Jon Stewart Goes After Fox in Ferguson Monologue

newtboy says...

Is this as new development as of this morning? Because what I've read from you is nearly all divisive, inflammatory rhetoric from an 'us VS them' mentality, and you nearly always divide people by race, and then degrade the other people's race. It's so ingrained in you that you don't seem to see it, but you automatically distrust those of color and trust those in blue, if not only those that are white wearing blue.
If that's not right, you certainly write that way.

lantern53 said:

You people are the racists because you think minorities need your help, they can't make it without you. They must be treated differently. They have to be excused because of (fill in the blank).

God loving parents give gay son a choice

newtboy says...

You beat me to that point. Would they disown him for wearing a cotton poly blend? They should, it's just as bad as eating shellfish, or sleeping with another man, or mowing your lawn on Sunday (really Saturday, Christians use the wrong Sabbath, The commandments were given to Jews, so referenced THEIR Sabbath to keep 'holy')....and on and on. It is only those tenets that allow them to act as they wish to, with all the bigotry and hate involved, that are ever 'followed' by 'Christians'.
I would also point out that, anyone following anything in the old Testament, especially to separate, chastise, ostracize, degrade, judge, hate, or just not love others is a Jew that's a fan of Jesus, not a FOLLOWER of Jesus, he taught inclusion, forgiveness, and love. In that sense, @enoch is right, this is not Christianity, but by that description, Christianity is a dead religion.

ChaosEngine said:

I'd love to agree with you, but technically they are acting within the tenets of the christian faith.

Of course, it's wildly hypocritical, since I'm sure there's plenty of other old testament nonsense they ignore for the sake of convenience.

Jon Snow confronts Israeli Spokesperson on killing of kids

aaronfr says...

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. And yes, international law does protect the right of people the resist their occupiers. However, this is a bit more than a "ghetto uprising" because a political group (Hamas) has formed and claimed to have some control over a territory and the people of that territory. Actually let me back up, even if that weren't true, it wouldn't matter for the point I want to make.

Armed combatants in a violent conflict, whether international or non-international, whether they are party to the conventions or not, are bound by international humanitarian law to uphold the Geneva conventions. “The civilian population and individual civilians shall enjoy general protection against the dangers arising from military operations.” This places a requirement on armed actors to take reasonable steps to separate their military activities from the civilian population.

However, if people knowingly and willingly stay in place in order to serve as a human shield to military activities, then they can no longer be considered "hors de combat" (outside of combat) and become legitimate targets. The problem here is that Hamas will always say they are innocent people being killed, that Hamas does not launch attacks from residential areas, and that no one is being forced to stay to act as a human shield. Israel will always say that rockets were launched from there and they had no choice but to attack in order to "degrade" military capabilities.

BUT, humanitarian law aside (sorry, it's one of my things) I think it is disgusting doublespeak that Israelis can actually convince themselves that Hamas is killing Palestinians by making Israel fire weapons into densely populated areas. That is disturbing and distressing rationalization that they explain away by saying that there are thousands of rockets being fired on their cities, never once acknowledging that not a single one of those rockets has landed and hurt someone.

gorillaman said:

There are no terrorist targets in Gaza. Occupied people have a right to resist, both ethically and under international law. Palestinian rocket fire isn't terrorism, it isn't war, but a ghetto uprising; just as doomed and just as noble.

Elite: Dangerous docking trailer

All ships have rotational inertia, provided you turn off flight assist mode. Without flight assist, you can fly with close to full Newtonian movement, with some exceptions that were made to keep combat fun. (For example, there is a speed limit cap, to prevent dogfights from degrading into high speed flybys.) This means that with flight assist off, any movement you make, you must make a counter-movement for to stop. This includes all 6 degrees of movement, from translational to rotational. Often, players will disable flight-assist to get into an advantageous position when maneuvering, then re-enable it so they can aim more easily. There are a few, VERY good players that can fight with flight-assist off completely, and it's a sight to behold:

Irish are the niggers of Europe? Reginald D Hunter

newtboy says...

It's racist against both people of color AND Irish in my eyes.
You don't have to be offended for something to be racist. It only requires a differentiation by race (and not even necessarily a negative differentiation as I understand the term). You having the self control to not be upset by other people's racism (or in this case 'nationalism') is a good thing, but does not erase the racism, it only lessens it's effect.
In my opinion, calling anyone a 'nigger' (even yourself) is racist, no matter the intent and no matter the race of the speaker. The word itself is a racial insult.
I feel like calling an entire nationality any derogatory word is technically nationalist, but is intended to be racist as (in this instance) it's intention is to separate all Irish from other Europeans as a separate race in order to degrade the entire 'race' (nation).

noims said:

Ah, but racist against whom? Be careful when you answer that.

As an irishman I didn't find offensive at all myself, and I can definitely commend his Irish accent.
