How exactly do you move wind turbine blades?

Malcom McLean - Inventor of the cargo container

Malcom McLean - Inventor of the cargo container

RFlagg says...

Reminds me of an older Tom Scott video where he talked about the history of the cargo container (didn't mention Malcom by name though). *related=http://videosift.com/video/The-Giant-Cranes-and-Robots-That-Keep-Civilisation-Running

Bernie Sanders rape letter

Bob is kind of like the Crane Kick from Karate Kid, you really can't defend it.

Payback said:

Wow Bob, I know I just defended your right to your opinion, and that people shouldn't attack you for it, but this is a lie. A complete fabrication. You should feel deeply ashamed of this bullshit. Even more so if you're just parroting some Republican talking point crap.

Runaway Crane

CrushBug jokingly says...

"Runaway crane, never goin' back.
Wrong way on a one-way track.
Seems like i should be getting somewhere.
Somehow i'm neither here nor there.

Runaway crane, never comin' back.
Runaway crane, tearin' up the track.
Runaway crane, burnin' in my veins.
I run away but it always seems the same."

Why are these people standing so close to the course?

Dumdeedum says...

Every few years a spectator or three does get flattened, but not much ever gets changed so I figure it's deemed acceptable losses.

Rally is the only motorsport I have any time for, but I've never wanted to see it in person - standing watching them go round one corner can't compare to the televised version with its in-car, helicopter and crane-mounted cameras.

On a road racing bike, how does he does these stunts?

Retroboy says...

It's amazing that despite all the amazing precision, the part that sticks out most for me is him driving over that arc thingie. I honestly might be able to do that myself with a thousand attempts, a safety harness and a crane, but for some reason it sticks out.

Have to agree with andyboy that the editing could have used some work. It seemed more than half about "let's do a quick stunt at this scenic location and then pop to somewhere else" than "let's explore the skills of the rider". This was just a taste of how ample and numerous those skills are.

Jumping from cornice to cornice, 40 stories up

sirex says...

unfortunately the liveleak videos of them falling off cranes aren't nearly as popular as the youtube ones of it going well. Both exist, though.

AAAAAAAaaaaaaAAAAAAAaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA!

Son of a bitch... that gave me butterflies in my scrotum.

Of course some of these morons are going to kill themselves. And just like idiots who pretend to get run over by a car then really get run over by a car, I just don't feel bad for them.

Spooky earthflow in Russia

Payback says...

While I don't doubt the hills have been mined or deforested, the structures you see I believe are high voltage trunk line supports, not cranes and drag lines.

bobr3940 said:

If you look at the video, you can see what appears to be mining equipment just behind the flow and if you look later in the video you can see that the hills behind the flow appear to have been heavily mined/stripped. Looks like this was probably caused by man stripping out all of the trees, grass and vegetation. Screw around with the balance of nature enough and you will get occurrences like this.
