Claudia Stauber DNC rant

newtboy says...

*quality rant, excellent points. Please be this loud or louder on the convention floor, Ms Stauber.

The only thing that Sanders endorsing Clinton did was make his supporters disappointed in him, it didn't sway his supporters, especially now that the cat's out of the bag.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Resigns, Sanders Fans React

bobknight33 says...

HRC and DWS had to be in collusion the whole time. For Hillary to state she knew nothing about this is BS. Heck HRC Just Hired DWS. after she was fired.

If this hands Trump the presidency it is because of Democrat VS Democrat corruption.

WE live is sad times Both sides are useless. Why on earth would anyone want a bigger government. They are so out of control.

The DNC convention vote could still give the nomination to Bernie.

So, HRC and DWS have now handed Trump the presidency by improperly if not illegally handing Clinton the nomination.

One silver lining....Americans will finally be getting the government we deserve...and it's one that will destroy us.

Donald Trump Entrance at GOP Convention (C-SPAN)

Payback says...

Wikipedia:
"In July 2016 the song was used to introduce Donald Trump to the first session of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. The irony of introducing an American political candidate with English-authored music was apparently overlooked by the event's organizers. Queen immediately issued a statement denouncing Trump's use of the song as not authorized by the band. (Licensing for public performance of the song is administered by the performing rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI).)"

Melania Trump Plagiarizes Michelle Obama

newtboy says...

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Not her firs public lie, in fact she's been publicly lying about herself since she met Trump, with his help.
Apparently she's repeatedly claimed to have a degree she never had....she actually left college before completing (nearly failing) her freshman year and never returned....but her biography both online and in her introduction at the convention claimed.....
"began modeling at age 16, but she only began working full-time after obtaining a degree. She graduated “in design and architecture at University in Slovenia"

What a pair of enormous frauds. The Republicans have one hell of a ticket. This is what you get when your entire party gets their "information" from Faux news.

Stephen Colbert gavels open the RNC conference in Cleveland

moonsammy says...

I think it's safe to say that's going to be the funniest moment of the RNC convention by a significant margin. There might some bits that elicit a "laugh because otherwise I'll cry" reaction, but I'd be surprised by any straight-up humor.

Farm of the Future Uses No Soil and 95% Less Water

MilkmanDan says...

I think corn would be doable, but the advantages would be less efficient compared to short plants.

At some level of efficiency, there is a break even point (which can also take into consideration shipping costs and fossil fuel usage to major metro areas). I'm pretty convinced that vertical farming could be a significantly good / efficient idea for those plants that it is best suited for, but I do think there would be some early-adoption issues that would make it less practical for tall stuff like corn. At least until it has been done enough to work out the kinks and economy of scale kicks in.

So at least for the time being, I think we'll see it first be applied to leafy plants and tuber / root plants. But I could definitely be a biased opinion since my family revolves around conventional corn farming on irrigated fields...

Chairman_woo said:

Think about it this way. Stack the corn trays just once and you just doubled your output for a given area.

You're right about getting less mileage from taller crops. But every vertical layer would in theory still double the area you have to work with each time you added one.

Scale this up to a skyscraper sized building and you could supply any city with all the food it could need locally.

It probably could start to skew the market towards squatter plants as you say, but I can't see why most if not all of the things we grow now couldn't be viable. (doubly so if they ever nail the process of growing meat)

Bernie Sanders Explains His Reluctance To Endorse Hillary

newtboy says...

Doing everything he can do to defeat Trump would mean continuing to fight to be the nominee, because a Clinton VS Trump election is a toss up, not a way to defeat him. Only a Sanders nomination blocks a Trump presidency, a Clinton nomination gives us a 50/50 chance of a Trump presidency at best.....and people are OK with that?!? WTF people? What's wrong with you?

If you don't want Trump, you should continue to support a Sanders nomination at the convention.
If you support Clinton, you are gambling with the nation for your personal preference, and clearly "beating Trump" is NOT your major concern, if it's a concern at all.

As he said, it's about convincing voters that Clinton is WITH THEM, not convincing voters to be with her. She has failed completely at that task, and seems to not have even tried. In fact, her campaign made more efforts to court anti-Trump republicans than is has to court independent Sanders supporters. That, as much as anything, is an indication that she plans on moving far to the right if she's elected, not that she plans to work towards the few goals she's temporarily adopted from the Sanders camp.
If Sanders supporters don't think Clinton is going to work towards their goals, and she's given little to no indication that she will, they won't vote for her. It's up to HER to convince them she's on their side. Get to it, woman, or bow out.

Bernie Sanders Explains His Reluctance To Endorse Hillary

bareboards2 says...

I so admire Mr Sanders.

That might be shaken after the Dem Convention, if he doesn't strongly endorse Clinton.

Because it isn't just politics at this point -- it is a two way horse race with passions running high.

I have to self-soothe by endlessly repeating -- it is a loooong time until November. It is a very looooooog time until November. There is enough time for Sanders to do what he says at the very beginning of this interview -- EVERYTHING HE CAN TO DEFEAT TRUMP.
