Police And Security Stand Back While Zionists Attack Protest

newtboy says...

I agree with the first sentence as far as Israel goes.

The US dollar is STOPPING the killing in Ukraine. Remember, Russia said it’s objective is to erase Ukraine and Ukrainians, not just rule them. If we weren’t funding the resistance, we would be watching another genocide.

As for the idiotic video, the border fence has cost around $30 billion, not 5, and only added a few miles of “border protection”. It certainly isn’t doing the job of curtailing immigration, now is it? It will cost at least another $20-$40 billion to make it connect border wide if that’s even possible. It’s definitely not legal under current law, and since it’s easily climbed over or cut through in minutes or less, why would we waste more money on such an expensive (5 times the average per mile) and useless fence?

Yet not forget the US dollar funding the killing in Ukraine.

Pretty cool! Is there a limit to how high it can climb? I like the wings. Kinda reminds me of the unreal "birds".

Possum

newtboy jokingly says...

No. I’m not sure of that at all.
I grew up in a swampy forest on the outskirts of Houston, and like possums (opossums to be technically correct) I was just a big muddy swamp rat climbing trees and playing by the bayou for most of my childhood.
Also I do have a pouch.

Are you SURE your mom wasn't just thinking of your physical similarity to a possum?

Watch Elon Musk's Rocket Explode After Launch

BSR says...

If they learned anything then it would be a success. I think some of the engines didn't ignite which made it climb slowly and forced it to go off course.

It was said that the nose cone was added just for looks, it really didn't serve any purpose.

The launch pad and surrounding area was a mess with debris and a car was damaged some distance away from the launch pad.

The way everyone cheered I'm thinking nobody expected too much from this flight and it did better than expected.

How to Not Fall Off A Ladder

luxintenebris jokingly says...

right on about kids & ladders. use bike locks to secure ladders to support braces to keep them from traveling.

also, discovered a phenomenon working retail. use a ladder to work merchandise, on upper selves, /lights/etc, and customers are drawn to it like "moths to the flame". end up going up & down while other workers in the area are within 10 yds. grrrrr!

learned to get fellow workers at the base to deal w/the "where're your..." moths, so could finish the high work. (that or do it after closing)

learned safety early as not a fan of heights. secure it so could focus on the climb. "...okay...doing good...one more step...no the ladder isn't shaking that's your pulse..."

The $5BN Mega Resort in the Desert

spawnflagger jokingly says...

if the only way to get there is by jet, how are the resorts going to carbon-offset all of that jet fuel used to get there?

The carved-into-rock hotel might make a good James Bond set, but not sure how many rich Saudis will enjoy climbing a mountain to get to their room (which will likely cost thousands $$ per night)

The Death Couloir - Mont Blanc

newtboy says...

No problem whatsoever with waivers. Are you worried that too many brain dead slugs will Darwin themselves? Why? Do you foresee some future shortage of morons?
The problem is trying to make everything safe for morons….how are we supposed to cull them if you remove ALL evolutionary pressures.
Idiocracy was a documentary from the near future.

Besides, if they’re dumb enough for all that, they’re dumb enough to know that if they can’t see the danger, the danger can’t see them, so just walk the cliff edge with your towel wrapped around your head, for safety.

If I want to risk my life climbing an active rock slide, that should be my and the recovery team my estate hires’s business. The idea that suicide is against the law is moronic to me….the only crime that is prosecuted only against those who fail at committing it. Suicide by overt stupidity or intentional high risk lifestyles not only doesn’t bother me, I fully support it as long as it doesn’t involuntarily endanger others.

BTW, the skier death doesn’t sound sad one bit to me, she died doing what she loved, and part of that love was undoubtedly of the danger level of skiing out of bounds, the rush of skiing with a 1000ft drop as the punishment for crashing (or stepping too far). I would think she probably really enjoyed 99% of her last day. Definitely the kind of horrific, quick death I hope for. Way better than prolonged disease or decline.

Therein lies the problem: most people HUGELY over-estimate their 'Acceptable risk level'.

- "This crumbling cliff edge above a 1,000 foot gorge is the PERFECT place for a selfie!" (one of the saddest deaths in WA was when one of the best skiers in the state decided to look over the edge of a cornice. It gave way and she fell almost a thousand feet to her death.)

- "100f and 0% humidity? What a perfect time to go for a 10 mile, uphill hike with only a can of Coke and some salty beef jerky!"

- "10 essentials? Beer, pot, lighter, cellphone, hat, earbuds, that little map they give you at the visitor center, more beer and is that 10?"

- "I can read a map just fine! This off-trail hike through a rugged part of the park will be breeze!"

- "I can get signal anywhere in this enormous national forest!"

- "Aww! What a cute little baby bear!"

- "Can we get an Uber at the bottom of this ravine?"

- "Let's go swimming! This raging river of snow melt will be the perfect place to cool off!"

etc etc etc

The Death Couloir - Mont Blanc

newtboy says...

Can we not try to make EVERYTHING “safe” please!?

I would bet half the climbers went for the risk and danger. There are plenty of hikes that are safe…if people want a safe climb, go to one.

Rate the daily danger level, sure, and allow adults to choose their acceptable risk level. Inform visitors that rescue workers will not put themselves in danger to save you, and even list the average cost of a rescue/recovery that you will be billed for. Require liability waivers.

Don’t lowest common denominator nature, you will fail even if you succeed.

F1 Romain Grosjean crash "about 27 seconds in fire" 11/29/20

noims says...

I remember the first time I saw him climbing out of the fire and all I could think of was The Terminator. The sound on Eric's video is even reminiscent of it.

Incredibly scary stuff, balanced only by the astounding engineering that kept him alive.

The Alpinist Trailer

newtboy says...

I ran across this on Netflix, and was amazed to find out there’s a climber the likes of Dan Osman and Alex Honnold that no one has ever heard of, who solo climbs the most difficult peaks in the world, often free climbing….all at first sight (having never seen the mountain in person). Going to climb the most difficult peak in Patagonia…climbing alone…and to add some difficulty he went mid winter when no sane person or group even considers going there.

Some people burn their candle at both ends…Marc-André burns his candle all at once, but never attracted attention…until now.

I highly suggest this movie if you like climbing, exploring, extreme sports, or just people being amazing with zero interest in fame.
