I love Nick Drake. I have everything by him.

Home PC

1. Ventures - Rma Bunk Shush
60s/70s instrumental band still active today I believe.

2. Delta Force - Main Theme
Theme to a popular Novalogic online game. I used to play this obsessively.

3. Nick Drake - Man in a shed
/wrists stuff.

4. Lil' Flip and Judge Dredd - Glocks Up
Houston hiphop/rap mixtape

5. Lamb of God - 11th Hour
Metal, I nearly got to see them live but they canceled a show in Ottawa.

6. 07 - Easy Street
Random chillout minimal track. Most probably from M_nus.

7. Ventures - Frosty
More classic instrumental tracks.

8. The Roots - The Web
Hip hop live band?

9. Portishead - Better Things
Who doesn't know Portishead?

10. The Orb - Tong Poo
Who doesn't know the Orb?

I want in on this

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
Yeah I have a weird and diverse taste in music. Am actually planning to put out a mixCD on the internet/torrents called cosmonauts escape which will be a 10 to 15 track listing of the best spacy, hypnotic chillout music I found over the last couple of years. Of course it will be free

In reply to this comment by UsesProzac:
You must have good taste or something.. A lot of the songs I want to upload, you've already Sifted. I'm obliged to upvote them.

I'm getting to the point where I'd pay for music that was new and good. So much of the music I like is old. Let me know when your mix cd is up!

Nice to see Shpongle and Infected Mushroom on your list, dsjunkid, hadn't listened to them IN YEARS, literally! And Saint Germain is nothing to be ashamed of, even with their popularity.

So here's my 10 cent:
1. Bear McCreary - Something Dark Is Coming (BSG Season 2)
Dark ambient. One of the best tracks from _the_ best TV series soundtrack ever created, I shit you not. We're off to a great start; McCreary is exactly what I hoped to see on my list.

2. Joke Society - Morphing Morning
From Cafe Del Mar SunSand. Yes, I confess guilty as charged, I'm one of the Cafe Del Mar obsessed.

3. Faithless - We Come One

4. Awake On A Train - Múm
Their 2000 "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK" is one of the best albums in the world, period. This masterpiece of theirs is even better than Sigur Ros (they're both icelandic). We're doing a lot better than I expected.

5. Obstacle 1 - Interpol
Again, "Turn On The Bright Lights" was one hell of an album. Thank you, people that helped me sift some of their stuff. This is indie rock at its best.

6. Ace Of Spades - Motörhead

7. Evergreen (Dusted Remix) - Faithless
From Hed Kandi's Winter Chill 3, this is one of my favorite lounge/chillout tracks of all time. Excellent mix, too, a lot better than original, which is definitely saying something.

8. Jumbo - Underworld

9. All Along The Watchtower - Bear McCreary (BSG Season 3)
Best modern cover of this masterpiece. A tune of harps and sitar pave the way for a surprisingly powerful progressive guitar. I strongly suggest you google/youtube it.

10. Knights of Cydonia - Muse

Well, I must say, I never expected this to turn out as well as it did. Thank you, trusty shuffle, I may now actually use more of you in the future. And thanks for starting this experiment, dft

Lemon Jelly is ace, too bad i missed that post of yours. I will be sure to resurrect it when my powerpoints refill!

It's right at the top of my discards to resift. Look for it this weekend or early next week. It's only got two votes, so probably not worth wasting a promote for it. Of course, I wouldn't complain about getting that extra queue slot.

I sifted All the ducks are swimming in the water... a while back...

That was my first choice to post, but of course noticed it was already here, as well as "The Staunton Lick". That's why I went with "Slow Train" - that and I liked the animation.

My queue is full of chillout right now. Hope you enjoy it

digginit.

Since you're by the far the biggest purveyor of chill out music here, I was wondering what you thought of Lemon Jelly - my attempt to sift chill music didn't get very far.

What made you join VideoSift? (Sift Talk Post)

Farhad2000 says...

I joined because the idea seemed really interesting and I felt there was alot of content missing. I think my second sift got blogged because it was a Armored Cav advance through Baghdad.

Also back in 1999 I was addicted to this video show on MTVEurope called MTV:New and MTV Chillout. I wanted to run something along these lines. So I started Obscure.

Honestly I need to stop.

MINK says...

don't be so verbalist, CP
repetition and trancelike states are, you know, the same thing. it's chillout, it's meditation, triphop, it's not trying to "express" you a story in words, you have to get past that and think a bit for yourself instead of having it spelled out to you. that's even what the words say.

"just be glad to be here"

i think some of massive attack and portishead's lyrics are overdone and contrived, i wish they'd just repeat the main line

anyway, the legs are beautiful, all of them, and the music is beautiful, and the transformy piano is incredible. Into my "automatic upvotes" playlist with you!
