It has been long-time tradition that cheerleading signs are used at sporting events to read, “Navy & White” representing FMHS’ school colors and “Jaguar Power,” a FMHS mascot cheer.

· The inappropriate ordering of the signs was displayed for no longer than 30 seconds. FMHS administrators immediately took action.

· Reports indicating the FMHS student section was chanting “White Power” during this time were found to be unsubstantiated"

The kid holding the sign POWER is also holding the JAGUAR sign. so apparently he is flipping between signs hence indicating Jaguar Power.


Mr White just happens to be holding his sign WHITE behind the Jaguar Power. sign guy.

Coincidence / deliberate/ is unknown.

I'm not all for the Common Core because I've decided that teaching is an imperfect duty ( http://www.uark.edu/campus-resources/rlee/intrau04/oh/k-perf.html ).

What I mean is, the flexibility required of the duty of teaching makes it so hard nosed data collection is never going to accurately reflect the quality of the teaching being done. Therefore, the standardized testing that goes hand in hand with the common core should be abolished.

I have a student right now who can't stop his limbs from going numb and needs to constantly leave class because of some scary combination of ADHD meds and energy drinks he took. I've spoken with mom and the nurse, given him assignments, but beyond that there's not much I can do to reach out to this student. It is not fair or right that my pay be tied to a student(s) in a bizarre situation beyond my control.

And yes, I could be a teacher from pop culture films that follows him home and just mentors this kid, but this student is not alone. I've got literally 150 students all with unique problems and baggage. I get them for 5 hours a week (when they are actually there) and they spend the other 163 hours of the week doing who knows what.

This video, however, has obvious motives besides just abolishing the common core. Sex education SHOULD be a part of the curriculum and states that adopt sex education tend to have the lowest incidents of teen pregnancies. Mississippi teaches their sex ed classes by passing around peppermint patties (yes, really: http://articles.latimes.com/2014/apr/02/nation/la-na-ms-teen-pregnancy-20140403 ) and, not surprisingly, has the highest incidents of teen pregnancy.

Get it through your fucking skull, religious nuts. Teaching sex ed PREVENTS kids from having sex, not the other way around.

Common core is certainly not something positive that's happened in the education system in the past year, but I'd still take it over what some jesus cheerleaders want to replace it with.

If you're talking about the fact that there's entertainment (i.e. the kiss-cam in question) it's because unlike most non-american sports, we have breaks in ours. Baseball has innings, so during the change between players at bat / players on the field, they'll go to a commercial break on t.v., but if you're actually in the park they typically try to bring out a "Quick Cleaning" crew to watch, or the mascot will dance or something

Same thing for football, except footballs entertainment is basically cheerleaders and the half time show.

Hockey, however, has 3 periods, at the end of each they bring out the Zamboni to clean the ice, making entertainment on the ice itself impossible, so they do things with the jumbo-cam, like the kiss-cam, to keep people entertained until the next period starts.

My fix if I were an adult on the school system would be to perhaps sponsor a support group-type action-awareness campaign to empower the bullied kids through a kind of humiliation campaign against the most egregious of offenders and perpetrators.

Kung Fu instruction from a 'real' kung fu master for a solid year to lay down the foundation for defense as well...Maybe some Krav Maga?? Teach em the cockpuncher defense and have a team of girls protect the smaller, less-confident boys??

I dealt with douchebags by confusing the shit out of them-In the 10th grade I made great friends with the junior-varsity cheerleaders in my remedial math class, and sat at the cheerleader table at lunch, pissed some jocks off for a while until I started telling them what their GF's were talking about them....then the started coming to me for advice...Helps when you can get them weed as well

It is true for the most part. I have friends who were cheerleaders and now are coaches and they are gay and most of the males they coach are gay. It doesn't matter in the long run. It's akin to how men with hardened skulls are attracted to football. Still amazing.
