2011 Pumpkin Carving Contest Winners! (Sift Talk Post)
>> ^ctrlaltbleach:
I would have voted...
but, I'm probably the only idiot who couldn't figure it out!
I missed it too. I didn't know we could vote!
How to have more people entering VS contests? (Sift Talk Post)
I would of had to go buy a pumpkin for no other reason than to carve it for a contest I knew I would not win, and winning is the point
Those were my issues, it seemed like the contest was more geared towards people with families or a little one. Non of the people I know pick up a pumpkin unless making a pie or small vegetarian stuffed dish.
That is some insight into that, take what you will from it.
The scavenger hunt is confusing as all holy hell and I am not in favour of it.
I dont use social media, so people who do all these tweets and facebook entries have a massive leg up on me, What I do is unique and creative video or picture entries, but I can only have one of each, even if they are completely different.
Above all that you must understand people are mostly lazy now.
2011 Pumpkin Carving Contest Winners! (Sift Talk Post)
Thank you everyone for the upumpkin votes!
I agree with mintbbb, it was fun and I was surprised to place as well! ALL the carvings were so creative! (Marine, you made me do a spit-take when you called your aging pumpkin a 'sagging asshole', ha!)
I also forgot how difficult it is to carve. All I had was this kitchen knife that kept seeming to get larger, it was like doing brain surgery on a squirrel with a chainsaw.

2011 Pumpkin Carving Contest Winners! (Sift Talk Post)
Thank you! Wow, it was a tight race, and I am surprised I actually got a prize! You guys carved some cool pumpkins Congrats to everybody, you have some serious carving skills.
It was fun, and made me actually carve a pumpkin, which I haven't done in about 8 years (and carving is dang hard - my knife refuses to go where it needs to go, and the frigging pumpkins are so thick to begin with! When I was dreaming about carving a pumpkin while growing up in Finland, I thought it would be fast and easy. But hey, I also though peanut butter was sweet and like Nutella..)

I like @Sublime carving of Russell Crowe shooting a pistol and portrait of Ann Coulter

Thanks so much for the promote, although I guess it wasn't mine anyway. Hate it when that happens! :

My subliminal sift pumpkin! (I'm late to the party and it's not that great...and I'm lucky I didn't slice my finger off when I slipped carving the F, heh.)

Yours is pretty excellent. It's not professional-grade like @Sublime's, but his are in a different category of carving.
I'm still hoping a few more people are just late-comers like yourself. Otherwise, picking the three winners will be easy.
Thanks for that. No hard feelings at all. Please accept my apologies as well if I seemed a bit brash. Glad to have a heated discussion in a (mostly) civilized manner.

I just submitted mine to the list, but I have nothing on the guy who made the walking dead pumpkin
Bummer more people didnt participate :
Hey sorry about whatever we were arguing about earlier too, I tend to get riled up easily these days because no one likes to argue with me anymore it seems (perhaps I should go to law school?) and when I get started I really enjoy the argument for the sake of arguing. Nothing personal chief.

Sorry for the inconvenience, @<a rel="nofollow" href="http://videosift.com/member/Sublime" title="member since October 27th, 2011" class="profilelink">Sublime, but I've fixed your comment. (We have a lot of filters in place for brand-new members because we get a lot of spam.)
Those are some phenomenal carvings. Did you carve freehand or transfer a sketch? Do you use any professional carving equipment?

Sorry for the late entry (I usually wait until close to Halloween). Mine took about 3-4 hours and I usually spend about an hour or so staring at the pumpkin im about to carve trying to "find a face" as I call it. I think it turned out pretty cool

EDIT: Just took some pics if it in the dark; MUCH better effect achieved!
