Lin-Manuel Miranda Performs at the White House Poetry Jam

How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore
And a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot
In the Caribbean by Providence, impoverished, in squalor
Grow up to be a hero and a scholar?
The ten-dollar Founding Father without a father
Got a lot farther
By workin' a lot harder
By bein' a lot smarter
By bein' a self-starter
By fourteen they had placed him in charge of the trade and charter
And every day while slaves were being slaughtered
And carted away across the waves
Our Hamilton kept his guard up
Inside he was longing for something to be a part of
The brother was ready to beg steal borrow or barter
Then a hurricane came and
Devastation reigned and
Our man saw his future drip drippin' down the drain
Put a pencil to his temple
Connected it to his brain
And he wrote his first refrain
A testament to his pain
When the word got around, they said, "This kid is insane, man!"
Took up a collection just to send him to the mainland
Getcha education, don't forget from whence you came
And the world is gonna know your name!
What's your name, man?
Alexander Hamilton, his name is Alexander Hamilton
And there's a million things he hasn't done
But just you wait, just you wait
When he was 10, his father split
Full of it, debt-ridden
Two years later, see Alex and his mother, bed-ridden
Half-dead, sittin' in their own sick, the scent thick
And Alex got better but his mother went quick
Moved in with a cousin, the cousin committed suicide
Left him with nothin' but ruined pride
Somethin' new inside
A voice saying Alex, you gotta fend for yourself
He started retreatin' and readin' every treatise on the shelf
There would've been nothin' left to do
For someone less astute
He would've been dead or destitute
Without a cent of restitution
Started workin', clerkin' for his late mother's landlord
Tradin' sugar cane and rum and other things he can't afford
Scannin' for every book he can get his hands on
Plannin' for the future, see him now as he stands on
The bow of a ship headed for a new land
In New York you can be a new man
The ship is in the harbor now
See if you can spot him
Another immigrant comin' up from the bottom
His enemies destroyed his rep, America forgot him
And me? I'm the damn fool that shot him
Alexander Hamilton
We were waiting in the weeds for you
You could never back down
You always had to speak your mind
But Alexander Hamilton, we could never take your deeds from you
In our cowardice and our shame
We will try to destroy your name
The world will never be the same, Alexander!
Yeah, I'm the damn genius that shot him
GoPro: Best of 2015 - The Year in Review
Just shared your comment with my wife, and her reaction, I kid you not:
"I think it's a little cruel to strap a go-cart to a shark, don't you think?"
Me: "You're right, it *would* be cruel to stap a go-cart to a shark; however, we're talking about a Go-Pro camera, which is an entirely different thing!"
Me uncontrollably cracking up ensued.
Dude, did you just strap a Go Pro to a hammerhead? What were you thinking?

This guy shows off his driving skills in the office
Where's the slow motion of the rear of the cart spraying the foam off of a latte cup left artfully at the edge of the desk? and the time shifted clip of the guy in an office chair flying over his head between two desks in a monkey suit?

The regular version is $350 and the adult XL version is $800. I guess this means my diet starts now or my dreams of crazy cart is just as crazy as the cart.

The Amazing Kreskin: Put Down Your Phone and Listen
I remember watching him on Channel 5 out of NYC back in the early 70s, didn't realize he was still around. I grew up to think he was just another huckster but he has a point, I see mothers pushing shopping carts at the supermarket completely ignoring their kids while yakking on their cell the whole visit. Or a mom on the phone waiting for the school bus with her kid. Who knows, maybe they are completely engaged with the kids the rest of the day. But I suspect that next generation will end up glued to their phones as well.

Gator vs Truck
Are we sure that's a truck? Looks an awful lot like one of those off road golf carts, I believe the John Deere one is called a "Gator".
**edit, nm, googled "4x4 XE" (fender badge) and it's a Nissan so it's not a Gator. Not a truck either, but not a Gator.

Answer this Why is Baltimore such a shit hole in treating inner city poor folks like dogs?
Like many failed cities, Detroit comes to mind, and every city besieged recently by rioting, Democrats and their union pals have had carte blanche to inflict their ideas and policies on Baltimore since 1967, the last time there was a Republican Mayor. In 2012, after four years of his own failed policies, President Obama won a whopping 87.4% of the Baltimore city vote. Democrats run the city of Baltimore, the unions, the schools, and, yes, the police force. Since 1969, there have only been only been two Republican governors of the State of Maryland. Elijah Cummings has represented Baltimore in the U.S. Congress for more than thirty years.”
..."the Democrat-infested mainstream media is treating the Democrat like a local folk hero, not the obvious and glaring failure he really is. Every single member of the Baltimore city council is a Democrat. Liberalism and all the toxic government dependence and cronyism and union corruption and failed schools that comes along with it, has run amok in Baltimore for a half-century, and that is Baltimore’s problem. It is the free people of Baltimore who elect and then re-elect those who institute policies that have so spectacularly failed that once-great city. It is the free people of Baltimore who elected Mayor “Space-to-Destroy”. From a recent Allen West post

Not to mention the $1.5Million /year federal dollars for education. Total 18.3 Million from 2001 and today..
plus the 1.8 Billion from Obama's Stimulus.
Peace/ love sharing and caring. Yep a Democrat Utopia.
Cop Smashes Cell Phone For Recording Him
Let's see...we've got assault and battery, armed robbery, destruction of private property, destruction of evidence...and probably a few more crimes here. I won't be surprised in the least if there's not a single crime charged, however.
Police are proving conclusively that they are NOT protecting, serving, or upholding the law. Since they refuse to police themselves, I'm thinking it's time to disband the criminal gang and start again, they've all failed time and time again to be honest and upright people, much less proper authorities. If cops policed themselves, the other cops would have tackled this cop, jumped on his head, hog tied him, and carted him off to jail....but that's NEVER happened, not a single time, ever, no matter what kind of murderous crime the cop commits in front of his fellow officers. In my mind, that means they are not real cops and so not deserving of respect or compliance.
How about a ballot initiative to remove any 'protective custody' for officers sent to prison, so they have to go to gen pop like every one else? Then they might think twice...assuming some are prosecuted...because it would no longer be summer camp with other cops, it would be real prison.
BB-8 droid from The Force Awakens Rolls out on stage
It occurs to me you could probably manage it without too much in the way of Segway-esque magic. Have the outer shell as you'd expect, basically a big hamster ball, then a second ball inside it with all the clever stuff.
For the inside inside have most of the lower half be ballast of some sort - battery packs would be ideal for that - then 8 or so wheels pushing against the outer shell so you can move in a decent number of directions (might have to retract the wheels perpendicular to the direction of movement unless there's a more elegant solution I'm missing).
Then finally for the upper half make a very smooth dome, put a little cart on it whose position you can adjust with a couple of cables, stick a couple of strong magnets on the cart (need a motor on the cart too so you can rotate the head).
This is all based on my years of not having done anything remotely connected to model building!
So, some smartass went and reinvented the wheel ...
Yeah, "applicable only to the very lightest of electric vehicles". Something like that would at least have a chance of working. Basically something like a Segway, an electric bike, a small cart/kart/trike, something like that. Though how much of a weight save compared to loss of driving dynamics/stability/safety you'd get is a bit iffy, the suspension bits in a 200 pound vehicle are already very light.
But yeah, something like that might work.
OK, I don't disagree on any point, except the assumption that an electric car MUST be a 1000KG fully loaded passenger car.
I was thinking more of the non-highway legal, neighborhood kind that might weigh 200lbs.+- where saving 75-100 lbs would make a huge difference, and minimal suspension would still be OK.

I guess you need a lot of leg strength to press the brake pedal thousands of times in a race. Or is F1 like Mario Cart (where you never take your finger off the accelerator)? Probably it's like Mario Cart.
