Um….is that some attempt to summarize what I said? I can’t help but notice you addressed it at yourself. “Nice try BOBBIE”? Uhhhh…..I’m not bobbie, you are.

I love when you get triggered and your only rebuttal is “nuh-uh”. That always comes off so sad when I offered specific verified facts you could easily verify yourself if truth mattered to you. I always picture you alone and weeping as you write things like this.

The investigation of Toth Senchal soliciting money from sanctioned Russian oligarchs through Caribbean banks is public knowledge now. You can’t even offer propaganda rebuttals.

Ten million percent false? You think this makes you sound smart? Or adult?

Trump Media and Technology Group as of late last year has been under investigation for potentially being involved in a Russian money laundering scheme.
Toth Senchal was hemorrhaging money, and had a year wait before their planned (now cancelled) merger, so Trump went begging to Russia.
2 Caribbean banks owned in large part by a Putin ally and Russian oligarch loaned Toth Senchal $8 million…the company’s CFO warned at the time this was Russian money coming from sanctioned Russians and should be returned but they couldn’t afford to give it back so they fired the CFO instead…he’s talking.
This IS a CRIMINAL investigation, with DJT and little Jr both listed as CEO, both signed off on these loans from Putin. Just one more criminal case involving MAGA selling influence to Russia.

Bonus- Georgia criminal grand jury interviews sound disastrous for Trump.
“A lot’s going to come out sooner or later and it’s going to be massive. It’s gonna be massive.”
“If every person in America knew every word of the information we knew, this country would not be divided as it is right now.”
“I became more jaded about American politics when it became clear some witnesses would say one thing about the election under oath then casting doubt on the system when they returned to the campaign trail sometimes hours later.”
Not what you want to hear as a defendant in America’s most massive election fraud ever, the big lie.

Pirate films projected on a pirate ship in a play ground

newtboy says...

I like the idea, but the execution was disastrous. One film at a time, people. Also, since this is for adults, let's just skip Pirates of the Caribbean altogether. There are so many better, more adult, even historical pirate movies to choose from, we don't need Johnny Depp's super natural fantasy films featuring quasi pirate heros, try The Crimson Pirate, Captain Blood, Morgan the Pirate, Captain Kidd, The Sea Hawk....shit, even Yellow Beard would be an improvement.

Being on a Cruise Ship During Bomb Cyclone

Mordhaus says...

The first cruise I went on, back in 2002, they chased a hurricane around the Gulf rather than refund money. Some of it looked similar to this, but I think we had worse seas. Anyway, my wife and I both came down with the flu or a really bad cold around the same time, so it was miserable. They wouldn't let you out on the upper decks and recommended people stay in their rooms or inside.

Also, all the islands we were visiting had been at least brushed by some of the winds/seas of the storm, so the beaches were muddy and/or damage was all around. We never went on Royal Caribbean again.

Edit: Actually our seas were about similar to the ones at 3:24, so I guess it was comparable.

7 LIES You Were Taught At School

Drachen_Jager says...

This isn't accurate at all on Columbus either.

Every educated person knew the Earth was round, they even had a pretty good idea of how BIG it was. Which is why nobody was insane enough to try the trip to the East over the Western sea. It was too far, they would simply die.

Columbus was an idiot who got the math wrong and thought the Earth was a lot smaller than everyone else knew it was. He didn't even really convince the Queen he was right, she just had lots of ships and on the off chance he might be right, she gave him three because the reward was worth the risk.

He then went on to slaughter a few million islanders in the Caribbean because they wouldn't tell him where the gold was (they had no gold).

So... he was basically an idiot and a homicidal maniac, responsible for one of the largest genocides the world has ever known. Yay, let's celebrate a day for him, America! (oh and he also never set foot in what is now the United States AND the first Europeans to come to the Americas were several hundred years earlier).

Classy Tourists Calmly React to a Stuck Elevator

newtboy says...

Arrest every one of them, and put them in Caribbean jail (no a.c.) until they pay for 100% of damages and their bill (which I bet they skipped out on).
Also, their full names would be nice to add to the 'do not rent to' list so other hotels don't make that mistake.

Nice tramp stamp, mom. Right above your exposed asshole (she has no ass to expose, a good trick with that belly). Keep it classy.

Would You Ride This?

shagen454 says...

It looks fun to me. Seriously, there are only two rides I have ever been on that I never went to go on again. The Twilight Zone ride, where it goes dark and you drop like 12 stories straight down or something like that. I screamed like a girl. 2: DMT breakthrough, a ride so far outside of this Universe that I screamed for my life louder and longer than I would like to admit, lol. After that, jumping out of a spacecraft back to Earth would be like floating in some soothing, calm Caribbean waters.

Can Seawater Fix California’s Drought?

MilkmanDan says...

Desal can be awesome ... for islands with a high percentage of revenues coming from tourism (lots of Caribbean examples), or for City-States that have high population density and lots of money-making industry (Singapore).

California is *huge*, with lots of revenue coming from agriculture. Not enough tourism per square mile to pass the costs on to visitors, like with Caribbean islands, and not really enough population / commercial density to make it an ideal solution for those uses either.

...On the other hand, economy of scale can't start kicking in until you get some early adopters. By throwing some money at this now, California might be making a smart investment towards having better and cheaper desal options that could fill a higher percentage of their water needs in the future.

Thug Life Baseball Compilation

Nephelimdream says...

IDK. Baseball is pretty popular in Japan and Korea. Not to mention the Caribbean. I suppose with cricket and rugby/Australian rules football it's a bit redundant elsewhere. Just a guess.

So besides the history of the battle bewteen communism and capitalism, why didn't (american) football and baseball not get very popular in other countries?

Lin-Manuel Miranda Performs at the White House Poetry Jam

How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore
And a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot
In the Caribbean by Providence, impoverished, in squalor
Grow up to be a hero and a scholar?
The ten-dollar Founding Father without a father
Got a lot farther
By workin' a lot harder
By bein' a lot smarter
By bein' a self-starter
By fourteen they had placed him in charge of the trade and charter
And every day while slaves were being slaughtered
And carted away across the waves
Our Hamilton kept his guard up
Inside he was longing for something to be a part of
The brother was ready to beg steal borrow or barter
Then a hurricane came and
Devastation reigned and
Our man saw his future drip drippin' down the drain
Put a pencil to his temple
Connected it to his brain
And he wrote his first refrain
A testament to his pain
When the word got around, they said, "This kid is insane, man!"
Took up a collection just to send him to the mainland
Getcha education, don't forget from whence you came
And the world is gonna know your name!
What's your name, man?

Alexander Hamilton, his name is Alexander Hamilton
And there's a million things he hasn't done
But just you wait, just you wait

When he was 10, his father split
Full of it, debt-ridden
Two years later, see Alex and his mother, bed-ridden
Half-dead, sittin' in their own sick, the scent thick
And Alex got better but his mother went quick
Moved in with a cousin, the cousin committed suicide
Left him with nothin' but ruined pride
Somethin' new inside
A voice saying Alex, you gotta fend for yourself
He started retreatin' and readin' every treatise on the shelf
There would've been nothin' left to do
For someone less astute
He would've been dead or destitute
Without a cent of restitution
Started workin', clerkin' for his late mother's landlord
Tradin' sugar cane and rum and other things he can't afford
Scannin' for every book he can get his hands on
Plannin' for the future, see him now as he stands on
The bow of a ship headed for a new land
In New York you can be a new man
The ship is in the harbor now
See if you can spot him
Another immigrant comin' up from the bottom
His enemies destroyed his rep, America forgot him
And me? I'm the damn fool that shot him

Alexander Hamilton
We were waiting in the weeds for you
You could never back down
You always had to speak your mind
But Alexander Hamilton, we could never take your deeds from you
In our cowardice and our shame
We will try to destroy your name
The world will never be the same, Alexander!

Yeah, I'm the damn genius that shot him

Zenith Anchor Damage - December 8, 2015

newtboy says...

What dirty bastards.
*promote so more people will know to not book with Royal Caribbean until they make a written pledge to never anchor over a live reef again, even if it's legal, and agree to pay to mitigate all the damage they've done here. It can't just be fixed, but there are some things that can be done to help minimize the lasting damage.

Dolphin Encounter

Warcraft - Trailer Tease

ChaosEngine says...

Fair point about Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one, at least).

As for the quality, I never said it wouldn't be a quality picture. I'm sure it will be well executed.

But we have HEAPS of big summer blockbusters and fuck all clever sci-fi like Moon, so I'd rather see Duncan Jones doing something more interesting than this.

And OF COURSE I can comment on a movie based on a teaser. If that's all they put out, that's all I can comment on, and what I see here is IMO, a waste of a good director.

If you find that condescending, that's your problem.

mentality said:

Acknowledging that you may be wrong does not mean you were not being incredibly condescending.

Will this be the next Citizen Kane? No. And no one is asking it to be. It has the potential to be a well crafted summer blockbuster. And no, a big budget blockbuster is not inherently inferior to a small indie movie like Moon. It's that kind of elitist attitude that is condescending.

And no, you cannot comment on the quality of the movie based on a 15 second teaser, so far before release. All it shows is that Duncan Jones respects the source material, at least visually.

And as for Warcraft not being known for its story? Well, they made a good movie out of a Disney theme park ride, so anything can happen.
