McMahon Learns Why Blumenthal Never Investigated Her Company

Yogi says...

Context?

His Republican opponent is Linda McMahon, the CEO of the WWE, which is a made-for-tv fake wrestling league.

Whoa whoa...Scripted Wrestling Entertainment. You wouldn't introduce Buffy as a fake show, it's a Science Fiction/Fantasy show.

True Blood - We are NOT your equals!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer may have had Vampires in it...but it really wasn't about Vampires, hell a lot of times it wasn't even about Buffy. It was just damned good fun.

Hush and Once More With Feeling spring to mind. Although, comparing True Blood and teh Whedon smacks of heresy.

True Blood - We are NOT your equals!

VoodooV says...

This scene is awesome...but not quite as awesome as the "twisted" ending a few episodes ago

The difference between Twilight and True Blood is huge. Twilight takes itself so seriously. True Blood always has a little bit of tongue in cheek added to it. This clip is proof of that.

Like many of you, I'm sick of the whole Vampire craze Hollywood has been going through lately. But as I've been telling my friends when I try to encourage them to watch it. I describe the show as a "R-Rated Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

Buffy the Vampire Slayer may have had Vampires in it...but it really wasn't about Vampires, hell a lot of times it wasn't even about Buffy. It was just damned good fun.

The Bechdel Test for Women in Movies

Shepppard says...

Ghostbusters shouldn't be on that list.
Neither should Dead Mans Chest.
And most likely neither should At Worlds End.
X-men and X3 don't have females with names that talk to each other? I'm Sure Storm, Rogue, and Jean gray would have something to say about that.

And then there's things that shouldn't even really be on that list. Bruno? That's a documentary style movie.
Wall-E is about robots.
The Dark Knight is based on a comic book character.. specifically one aimed at boys, Same with Watchmen. (Although, it's arguable that both silk spectres talk to each other, and therefore shouldn't be on this list.)
The original transformers? I've seen it once, but one scene I remember is Shia LeBouf's mom comes in and is talking to Meagan Fox.

This seems kind of silly to me. Different movies cater to different tastes. What's the point of this test? What's the true goal? Women still enjoy seeing them (As far as I can tell).

And as for girls starved of things to daydream about? Guess again. I have 3 sisters, one older, two younger. The one older loves seeing movies and has never complained about anything mentioned here before, and the younger watches things like Buffy, and all sorts of other movies. Never a complaint.

Different things cater to different tastes.

Ignore Stephen Baldwin, Restore Joss Whedon

MaxWilder says...

I was a big fan of Buffy, and got really pissed when Joss let that show go to crap while working on Firefly. So much so, that when Firefly came out, I didn't really pay much attention. I mean, cowboys in space? Come on.

Then about a year later, after it had been canceled and everything, I happened upon it again. Sci-Fi channel reruns or something. It suddenly hit me in the face what an incredibly awesome show it was.

I think something similar happened to a lot of current Firefly fans. That's why it got canceled prematurely, and why it still has such a following. It's a show that really stands up to repeated viewings, possibly even improving with multiple viewings. That's my definition of quality, and there are precious few shows like that.

Michelle Trachtenberg Spittin Some Mad Gangsta Sh*t...

Michelle Trachtenberg Spittin Some Mad Gangsta Sh*t...

Porksandwich says...

Michelle Trachtenberg is very attractive. But I like that she's been in some of the more nerdy/fun shows like Buffy...but then after that she goes on to do Robot Chicken bits (the gummy bear skit is hilarious). I'd guess this is from her being on Mercy with Van Der Beek, and her character on there is great.

Nathan Fillion is a nerd

kymbos says...

I just read a review in IMDB, which reads "As with BtVS, the world is divided into people who get Firefly and people who don't." BtVS is 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. It's reviews like that which make me reluctant to watch Firefly. I'm into sci-fi, but never things like Star Trek, or a show like Buffy which I found to be teenage rubbish - just tipped too far over the 'geek' edge.

Southland Tales Trailer

Crake says...

I thought this movie was great. Full Disclosure, I didn't know it was a Richard Kelly movie until half way through when I imdb'd it out of sheer wtf-ness. I thought it was some kind of comedy version of Von Trier or David Lynch.
Not to say that it didn't make ANY sense though, i thought the casting of the Rock and various icons of L.A. superficiality (Buffy the valleygirl, JT, etc) was nice, and added to the feeling of airheaded people taking themselves VERY seriously and not having a clue what's going on.

Also, This.

How the original Dr. Who theme music was made

Nerds unite and vote for the God Damn Video!!!!

This song taps into some deep, deep part of me. The nerd part. I'm so sad that my own children (they are real) will not feel that. Wait a second, my youngest, 3, loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and she complained "why did the song change" between each season as I rewatched them with my wife. My God, she's a NERD TOO!
