I still maintain that SMG was the least attractive, and least talented of the whole Buffy bunch.
Hannigan, Caulfield, Trachtenberg, Benson, Carpenter. All hotter/better

You're an idiot if you think she was the least talented. She had actual Acting chops that Joss and others gave her a lot of credit for way after Buffy. You think Hannigan was great at playing dorky and delivering her lines in a hesitating manner? Or that Trachtenberg reached new heights of annoyingly whiney Teenager? No SMG played her role of Lion Hearted Hero (which is really hard to play without being completely tiresome) to absolute perfection. I was annoyed with her at the right times, and right behind her at the right times. She's good, you just don't know dick about acting.

Nothing beats Caulfield though.

House MD - 177 Episodes in 7 Minutes

Yogi says...

One of my favorite shows ever. Whatever was wrong with Episodic, hyperbolic, American television was also set right on most episodes of House. It was continuously strong, even stronger and more consistent than a great television show like Buffy (my favorite of these sorts of shows).

If anything Hugh Laurie should now do a victory lap with Stephen Fry by his side for a funny American television show. I think everyone would love that.

My top five:
Ridley Scott - Alien, Blade Runner
Kubrick - 2001, Clockwork Orange, Dr Strangelove
Christopher Nolan - View video above
The Whedon - Firefly, Buffy (TV), the Avengers
Nicholas Meyer (Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country)
-Interesting tidbits
-I knew Nimoy Directed The Voyage Home, but didn't know he directed 3 Men and a Baby. - hmmph.
-I don't include Lucas, as he was a (3 movie) one hit wonder. Seriously, what else has he done thats's memorable?
-JJ Abrahms has WRITTEN and PRODUCED a ton of stuff I love, but he hasn't really directed anything.
-The Buffy episode "Hush" is the best, most original, scary, stand-alone story I have ever watched on television.

Whedon is amazing that goes without saying. You're right to not include Lucas, all you have to do is watch Indian Jones trilogy to see how he shouldn't direct and Spielberg should!

The Avengers - Super Bowl Trailer

To me, the trailer is disappointing. But this is written and directed by Joss Whedon people... Joss fricken Whedon. Buffy, Angel, Dr Horrible, Firefly, Toy Story's screenplay... I'm prepared to be very pleasantly surprised by this because the man just has a way with words.

What s/he said. Whedon is an ace writer, and not just for films (read The Astonishing X-Men for example).

The problem with Guy Pearce is that you never know whether the film is going to be absolutely awesome (Memento for instance) or an absolute steaming pile of gangrenous, maggot ridden, shit... (errr, lots of his other stuff)

This looks like maggot shit to me. I'm turned off by any scene with a guy being unfazed by a series of merciless punches to the face. That shit will scramble your eggs. It takes me right into "this is a silly movie for Buffy fans" territory.

Found your comment funny, but don't forget that some films are good because of blatantly over trumped characters. I mean, i fucking love Starship Troopers, and it's crap in theory. Overly stoic hero - could work. Arny's pulled it off many times.
