This is one extremely well made machine. I cannot even believe how extremely well this held together, even after the crash (it was practically still in one piece). I find this carbon-fiber/single piece engineering breed of helicopter fascinating. It is far better in a number of fields--and then on top of EVERYTHING to see it go through this absolutely catastrophic situation and remain in one piece (as they said, many helicopters would start breaking apart mid-air due to the absolute savagery of the forces involved and at play here; yet this thing holds together the whole time, even though it is a test design and not even an "improved" or possibly it's "final" design).

I really think that this type of design and make will eventually start to make it's way through the industry. It is just too obvious that the bonuses out-way the negatives to me--then add in the fact that while still in it's testing phase they successfully handled a "worst case" scenario breakdown for a helicopter and then crashed it, then once again showing that the helicopter was VERY good at sending all the forces across the design and holding together (showing that it did a good job during TWO events really)... I really don't know how you couldn't be a bit hyped for this type of design moving forward if you were a helicopter engineer, pilot, mechanic, and especially the manufacturers.

To me, my first thought was, this could end up being the "jeep" of helicopters...

i agree with you but consider a few things:
1.for the first time bob is actually engaging and revealing where his perspective originates.(which came as no shock,to anyone).now we can disagree on his position but understanding how he got to that position gives an opportunity to disseminate the particulars.

this is a good thing.

2.while bob's breakdown of the political spectrum is extremely,overly simplified and his understanding of socialism vs corporatism is staggeringly..wrong..it begs the question ..why does bob have it so wrong?

Reminds me of behind the scenes of Rush Hour. The fight upstairs in the Chinese restaurant there's one gun and the American filmmaker wanted Jackie to toss it aside as if he would prefer to fight mano a mano.

Jackie pointed out the absurdity of that stupid concept altogether and made it so his character's focus in that scene was the exact opposite, to fight to get his hands on the gun, thus shutting the bad guy down.

It's awesome that he's done so many of his own stunts, but I feel bad for him because he's said one thing he loves about making films in America is they do everything they can to prevent him from getting hurt, and that's simply not the case in Hong Kong.

Read the last few paragraphs to see that this is basically another "Solar Roadways" situation. E.g. too much hype, not enough practical purpose.

Let's breakdown the problems here: extra complicated machined parts, excess usage of oil (to lube everything up), low rpm and horsepower due to the amount of material needed to move (sure a standard engine might weigh more, but less of it actually moves), additional wear over time, and the potential for explosion with extended use.

Basically, these things are only used in torpedoes, where a massive explosion is the whole point.

I feel sorry for this guy. It's clear he's suffered some kind of mental breakdown, and he just can't cope anymore. All he can do now is attack people at the slightest provocation hoping for a conflict while screaming meaningless drivel at anyone who will listen. Ignoring him seems to only further enrage him. I hope he gets the help he so clearly needs.
