Ann Romney: "I Completely Support 90% Of Where Mitt Is"

Secrets of Body Language

>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:

Interesting, but some of this feels a little over analyzed.

Absolutely. I was kind of giving up until they specified that everyone is different and you have to first work out what is usual for that person before you can work out whether their reaction is normal or not. It's interesting and fun rather than deeply scientific methinks.

Jesus Returns.

>> ^jmzero:
I appreciated your reply, and your "fate of the rich" comment, @shinyblurry. Clearly we don't agree on lots of stuff (and I was, true to character, angry in my initial response) but I understand your perspective on the political bits and am inclined to agree with your interpretation on the religious ones (whatever we disagree in terms of cosmic reality, I think we agree that Jesus had a worthwhile philosophy that's worth understanding). And we also agree that this video was really grating, so there's that too .

Thanks, I am glad we can agree on something, especially if it is Jesus. I'm glad you can see something worthwhile in what He has taught us. Even when I was agnostic I recognized a deeper wisdom in His words that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I suspect we have more areas of agreement about it, but of course we are looking at the world through very different glasses. I'm interested to hear what your particular prescription is, if you feel like sharing that some time.

As far as anger goes, don't sweat it. I've been guilty of being fairly reactive as well, and I apologize for that. This medium does not always lend itself well to civil discourse, and without being able to read facial expressions and body language, misinterpretations are inevitable. It is also an issue that tugs at your heart strings, because it touches everything about who you are as a person. It goes straight to the core of a persons belief system. That can be a sensitive area for many.

And yes, this video is obnoxious, but somehow something good came out of it.

It was an OK read of Ibraham. His eye avoidance, fidgeting, and other body language seemed to mark him as a guy who is uncomfortable with confrontation and buggery.

Man Flies Like a Bird Flapping His Own Wings

westy says...

Aside from other obvious aspects of it the most telling thing is that no person would fly that high without safety equipment especially with this kind of device.

other obvious points

1) the body language of the people walking away is really ridged

2) the volume decreases specifcaly so you can hear what the guy says its likely they redubed the sound over the top of the video. ( yet used crap quality film cameras)

3) wings are to small to provide life at such a low forwards momentum and flapping would simply detract from the lift provided.

4) if it was windy enoughf for lift then the guy would start to get lift before he moved ( you will see when birds go to fly if its a windy day extending there wings is prity much all it takes for them to begin flying.

5) you can see that the way he bobs up and down dosent look right at all

6) If you were doing this for real you would film it all with HD camaras and probably get sponsorship from a company to pay for it all.

7) the method of control would be too inprocise even if you went for automated flapping you would use some linear input for the pilot as a human does not have an intuitive sense for how arms should be flapped and then the whole system to translate that would be needlessly complex.

prevouse videos they have made all seem to have stiff acting , sound of the robotics added on top of the video and composited CGI.

Cee Lo Green Sings "F*ck You" at Obama Fundraiser

direpickle says...

>> ^aaronfr:

Are they laughing at the beginning because they know they are not civil? OK, I grant you that perhaps it wasn't the most appropriate thing for a fundraiser. I don't know, but based on Cee Lo's expressions and body language, I'm thinking that he was supposed to sing the PG version and just decided to be ballsy for some publicity.
And I love the just under the surface racial coding: Obama is a man of leisure; don't you miss Sinatra (as opposed to this 'random' black guy)

When he first starts singing he asks off stage if he can swear. He seems to think he has the okay, so goes for all of the 'fucks' and 'shits'. But then he gets another signal and goes back to the PG one.

SIGNS SHE DOESN'T LIKE YOU

Doodling in Math: Spirals, Fibonacci, and Being a Plant

Not attracted to her at all and I am a sucker for tall, skinny, pasty, artsy, intelligent, brunettes with dark brown eyes. She had so much going for her; but I'm sure she'd rather figure out the probability of failing?

It is ok though. It wouldn't work out even if I was attracted to her. She hates me and I know it. I can tell simply by the way she speaks and her body language. I don't know, usually when I date a girl/lady/woman, though frustratingly rare - it's usually like they knock my socks off the second I see them because we immediately have this intense connection and she usually is... tall, skinny, intelligent... maybe I have some sort of Freudian problem. LOL.

Incredibly, well done, simple and thought-provoking video though.

Not bad.

Brave Kitten Stands Up to Huge Dog

robbersdog49 says...

>> ^papple:

I'd like to think you're right, Quboid, but it really looks to me like that cat is quite scared. I also don't like the way it was motioned towards the dog.

The people weren't the most sensitive, and they were trying to get a reaction from the dog or the kitten. That I don't agree with, so whatever I say next I don't think the people were right.

However, I tend to agree with Quboid here. The cat isn't scared, it's curious and unsure. If it was scared it would run away. Retroboy has never seen a cat play looking like that, but I'm betting he hasn't been living with and breeding cats for ten years like I have.

I'm not doctor doolittle, but I do know cats. At the end of the video the cat isn't too happy and is slinking away. The situation isn't the cleverest, but that's not a really scared kitten. Domesticated animals like this don't have the same reaction to situations that a wild animal would have. That need to be fearful has been largely bred out, to the detriment of a lot of cats. The phrase curiosity killed the cat most certainly has it's origin in fact!

The body language and behaviour both animals was playful. I think a lot of the animosity toward this video is from people not really understanding what they're seeing. That is not a scary dog, at least not when it's behaving like that, and a scared cat will run away - it's not cornered!

And I've been around animals enough to know that this cat is scared at the end. Welcome to the internet, Dr. Fucking Dolittle.>> ^Quboid:

I didn't like the way they tried to shove the kitten closer to the dog. I think it had enough to contend with. Stupid people.

What does it have to contend with? Someone to play with?
I've been around animals enough to know that this is the body language of two animals who are curious and playful about each other. I think at the end the kitten has had enough but it doesn't look scared.
