I also liked Battleship and Snow White. I've become such a mainstream consumer! :'(

the word "contrived" is a perfect word to use in describing the first movie.
though i would not say i hated the first, i will say it was chock full of ..meh.
the trailers are all you really needed.
they were freaking AWESOME!

The reason I hated it was because it was promising to deliver most of the way through then just fizzled out, such an anti-climax! Also I'd been told by so many people I'd love it, so it was just disappointing all round. And the main reason was that it left nearly every move he made unexplained, like he was some kind of mindreader. Just annoying! And made more annoying by the fact everyone loves it! They love it so fucking much they get shitty that I publicly hated it

I'm anticipating how they're going to work "you sunk my battleship" into Battleship...

That reminds me of Mimi's complaint that the unicorn was humping the dolphin in an anatomically impossible way.

I kinda like how it turns into a dubstep riff in the Battleship trailer. Funny how "the honk" and "dubstep", things I normally hate in movie trailers, combine make something I actually like. Not that I'm actually going to see that terrible looking movie.

it invokes the "hero" and "patriot" we were raised to be.
it allows us to focus our personal angst, anger and racism on supposed enemies, dehumanized by propaganda.

ok... so... this has ZERO to do with the board game. Why even call it battleship? They could have done an actual sea battle like conflict, but they went with aliens. Don't get me wrong, even though I'm pretty sure this will suck, there's some really cool imagery, and I wouldn't mind watching it, but why the FUCK would they call it battleship? no one is going to watch this because of the board game. If they had called it, oh I don't know, maybe "Sea man Explosion" it would have no impact on the box office, and they wouldn't have to pay Hasbro a 1 cent.


Actually, I'm pretty sure someone had to make a bunch of movies about Hasbro I.P. in order to secure rights to Transformers. They've already made them for Rock'em Sock'em Robots (REAL STEEL), and Operation (REPO MEN). They just used the real name this time out.
