USDA: Eggs are NOT Healthy or Safe to eat

transmorpher says...

Refined carbs aren't great, but grains, starchy roots (potatos) and beans are a key component of every bluezone in the world where people live the longest and with the fewest amounts of disease. There's a video about it on the same channel as this video above :-)

You don't want to trade weight loss, for long term health is what I'm saying. Weight loss in of itself is going to improve health markers and general wellbeing, but the majority of people in the west die from preventable heart-disease, which is without a doubt tied to cholesterol, which eggs are full of (yes there are a lot of cholesterol deniers out there, but there is no valid research backing up their claims). Bob Harper is a good recent example, huge keto/low-carb advocate, had a heart-attack, despite being lean and athletic. He's doing the bluezone way of eating now....

Also have you noticed that nobody ever mentions the 4th macro nutrient in any diet these days? Fibre! The one macro nutrient almost everybody is deficient in.... but nobody seems to talk about it, except those selling fibre supplements. I find it weird personally!

From a Keto perspective eggs are the perfect food! My blood tests, weight, and sleep/energy improved by avoiding carbs. Really makes you think how upside down that USDA approved food pyramid is...

Vegan Diet or Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Healthier?

newtboy says...

True enough about Maasai, 44+- sucks no matter what kills you.
I don't believe they have perfect dietary health, but do think they indicate genetics play a huge roll in how we process foods.

My short research indicated 1/2 serving of seafood per day on average....whatever percentage that comes out to doesn't bother me....plus occasional pork.

My grandmother ate meat almost daily and lived to days from 97, healthy the whole time except for lung issues the last years. Anecdotal evidence can be misleading.

Fewer animal foods isn't none. I agree, average Americans could probably benefit from cutting their meat consumption in half or more, but none at all wouldn't be healthier for most people.

I say the lack of top athletes who are vegan contradicts your last theory. Humans are omnivores and work best as such.

transmorpher said:

At a life expectancy of 44 heart-disease for the Masaai is the least of their concerns.... but the it's also a myth that they have perfect health on beef https://nutritionstudies.org/masai-and-inuit-high-protein-diets-a-closer-look/

Traditional Okinawan's eat very little fish - less than 6% of their diet is animal products. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vnV4EGU1K4

These are the people who we now see living to well over 100 years old. Where as modern Okinawa's have a far worse life expectancy now that they have more animal foods in their diet.

Both of these cultures are further examples of how fewer animal foods in the diet always has better health outcomes.

And thanks to the vegan 7th Day Adventists in Loma Linda, we know that zero animal products has the best health outcomes.

This is a very strong indication that animal products are obsolete in the human diet.

Who Needs Wingsuits?

newtboy says...

No, sorry, ditching meat and dairy didn't cure his arthritis. It's likely that swimming and training to freedive relieved his symptoms by effectively oxygenating his blood more efficiently and to higher levels. There is no cure for arthritis.

Free diving requires excessively high iron levels in your blood, which is exceptionally difficult to achieve on a vegetarian or vegan diet. That's why very few top ranked freedivers (or other top ranked athletes) are vegan instead of all of them.

True, vegetables don't have cholesterol, but poly and monounsaturated fats they do contain can still raise human cholesterol levels when over consumed. It's just not as simple as plant good, meat bad.

No clue where you get this 20% boost of O2 use efficiency claim....have any references or even explanations? It contradicts everything I find that shows only around 1/2 the iron found in those few vegetables that contain iron is useable by the body unlike iron found in dark and red meats.

Interesting backstory to this diver Stig Pryds - like many other people , he cured his arthritis by ditching meat and dairy.

He's supposed to be in a wheelchair and on medication.

He started swimming as therapy for his arthritis too, and turns out he's the worlds best freediver......which no doubt makes him talented, but when you think about how not eating cholesterol (only in meat/dairy/eggs/fish) will clean out your arteries, it's no wonder his blood is able to stay oxygenated for longer periods. Along with eating greens, he'll be around 20% more efficient at utilizing oxygen and creating energy.

I wonder if he'll be in the upcoming James Cameron's Game Changers documentary.

Emergency goalie steals the show in Chicago

MilkmanDan says...

Loved this whole story. After thinking about it for a while, I figured that Foster was probably going to get an NHL record for highest "career save percentage".

1) The contract that the emergency goalies sign makes them official NHL professional athletes for a day.
2) He came in and made 7 shots on 7 saves, a 100% save percentage.
3) Official player, official stats earned, yet extremely unlikely that he'll ever see another minute of ice time or shot against ... therefore, into the record books.

I looked at NHL stats page and a few other sources to try to figure out if that was correct, but everything I looked at limited "Career Save Percentage" stats to players with a high minimum number of games.

Then I saw this story:
https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/blackhawks-emergency-goalie-scott-foster-accountant-jets/

Confirms that YES, he'll be in the records books, but he'll be tied with 17 other guys all having a 100% save percentage (after having faced between 1-17 shots).

So even though he's tied with 17 other guys, dude is set for life for a story to tell his kids / grandkids / strangers in the bar:

"So yeah, I'm a former NHL goalie. Retired with a career save percentage better than Brodeur or Roy. Left the game literally at the top of the charts."

I think Patrick Kane and/or Jonathan Toews should give their salary from this one game to the guy since the contract he signed precludes the team from paying him... (both make $10.5 million for this season, so 1/82 of that would be a bit over $125k)

I take all that to heart.

In my native language and for me any woman under my age is a girl AND any man or woman taking part in sports and games is a boy or girl. They would be greeted and befriended in a much less formal manner than, for example during an opera performance intermission in the theatre hallway or in a workplace setting. For me girls running around on skis with guns are girls, I dont think of them as world class athletes but as ordinary people doing something enjoyable and rewarding.

I have trouble being entirely serene in the face of political correctness, so do feel free to correct my errors if I am found wanting in this area, even if I sometimes may appear to not take things seriously. Just a disclaimer.

"Edit this video" is now hidden in a menu that appears when you hover over your name above your video (Eric told me). Thanks.

Ah! Excuse me for being vague.

Girl is a young person. Age 17 or less.

A woman is a world class athlete.

If you want to fix it, look for the words "edit this video" underneath the video, bottom left.

Click on that and you can fix your description. If you want to.

Please excuse my English, how? Is it just the apostrophe? Apostrophes on a Czech keyboard are a pain. Also, I humbly admit, I have no idea how to edit that text now :-(

And she definitely let the other girl go, also I am not aware of any tradition of this happening regularly in biathlon or cross-country skiing when sticks break or are lost due to contact.

Nice show of sportswomanship

cloudballoon says...

I'm an optimist, I still think, at least in such high-level competitions & spectators present, sportsmanship & honor still rules above a medal/ranking for the vast majority of these athletes. Can't imagine how they'd lived down the illegitimacy of these incidents.

Keanu Reeves Tactical 3 gun shooting

newtboy says...

Because one "feminist" decided to attack everyone in the video because she sees athletic women working together (fully clothed, mind you) as, in her words, "only sex workers", requiring her to launch a derisive attack on any male near them, labeling them creeps, and against the women labeling them as unprofessional hooters girls and now sex workers.

Slut shaming women based on insulting mistaken assumptions and their athleticism is not feminist...imo it's not even rational. Trying to shame men for the women's fitness is just irrational.

...besides, what's wrong with shooting at children? ;-)

Pence, NFL, Trump vs. Bob Corker, Puerto Rico: A Closer Look

newtboy jokingly says...

Noooo. Fake news. Pretending Pence and Trump lied about orchestrating a publicity stunt, posting faked posts and prepared live tweets, and spending millions of taxpayer dollars to pull it off (secret service had to search everyone there and the stadium for one) just to throw shade at black athletes. No. There's no way they are blatant racist liars and frauds. No way. Fake.

When's the Right Time for Black People to Protest?

Phooz says...

To add to that; if these athletes really did protest outside of the sporting event I seriously doubt it would get any coverage AT ALL. I HIGHLY doubt that the media would give it any air time!

This doesn't hurt anyone directly... it's not obscene... they're not delaying game time... I just don't see how it can strike up such controversy. I'm sorry you had to think about the plight of people of color in this country on your leisurely game day Sunday?

We need more people of color in our governing body's if you don't want to see someone take a knee during the national anthem.

Let them have their time and raise awareness.

newtboy said:

He did no such thing. That's never been the point, it's the obvious red herring, oh fishy one. Now, holding a confederate flag.......

Ratings and ticket sales....up.
The idea you might go to a game and not have to deal with a crazed Trump fan screaming in your face seems to be a winner.

When your message will be heard is always the wrong time for those that don't want to listen. If you liked the message or the messenger, you would love the method and moment.
Sports has historically often been about politics.

Trump has now given the protest against police brutality the attention, and momentum it deserves....he may have done some good.....accidentally....by opposing it. One more win, he's on a roll.

Exploring the deepest pool in the world on a single breath

ChaosEngine says...

Free divers are nuts. They are some of the fittest athletes on the planet, but they put their bodies through unbelievable stress.

I have a tonne of respect for them, but I'd never do it.
