Oddest fight scene ever!


I know, "best"? What about all the time stood around waiting to get his ass kicked? Standing in the sunlight for a good 5 seconds when all he needed to do was sidestep? He was wearing sunglasses the whole fight too!

And the really stupid thing about this. There is the work programs high school offer where people take half the day and go to a job at least 3 days a week and often 5. Or the career tech centers who replace the last two years of high school with job prep courses and what not instead of the classical classes. And there's nothing wrong with this, legally or otherwise, but it won't help you get into a top tier college like taking college level courses would.

So these guys are dropping a major portion of their class load to go work, and this girl is carrying a full class load, working TWO jobs, and gets punished.

They should be finding some way to alleviate her need for at least one of her jobs through student loans for her brother or whatever.

It'd be different if they caught her out tagging her name all over town. Really her parents need their asses kicked, not her.

I bet you that despite his obvious soreness over the next week, he won't regret a single second. For that short time in the ring, he was young again.

And after the fight. The young guy went out drinking and felt bad about getting his ass kicked by an old guy, got up and went to work the next day.
The old guy was planning to go out for a drink, but was too sore. So he went home and laid down, fell asleep in his chair, woke up the next day and couldn't stand up straight. Took off from work to go to the doctor and spent the rest of the week taking pain killers and sitting at home until he could stand up straight without being himself a little.
Or near enough.
But it's extremely awesome to see old guys beat up on young dudes, especially if the young dudes are mouthy.

They used to have something like this..can't remember what it was called. But they let people from the audience sign up to fight. It mostly sucked, but saw a younger overweight guy fight...he was winning until he threw up and got disqualified. Said he ate a hot dog right before the fight.

And after the fight. The young guy went out drinking and felt bad about getting his ass kicked by an old guy, got up and went to work the next day.

I just don't want to believe that this is the way it is being presented. I wonder if there is any record of how bad the fight was before the shooting happened? I mean, if Z. was getting his ass kicked and when they showed up he had broken bones and his face was all busted up, I can sort of understand, but yeah, this is just horrible the way they make it sound.

I wish we had more info...

I'm not suggesting we silence ourselves, I'm just suggesting we be a little more respectful and a little less evangelical in our approach. Cthulhu knows I've gone through years of spite and aggression - sex on a church alter, ripping the book of Genesis to shreds (in words) at a dinner party and baiting people who are clearly outmatched into a theological debate they have no hope of surviving, among countless other examples. Whatever. It was a phase, and I'm not ashamed of those days, but at the same time I don't really think all that spite accomplished anything but to further alienate people of faith.

I find my older self wanting to be a good ambassador for atheism, rather than a bad-ass, kick-ass sword wielding crusader. I want atheism to appear as calm and mainstream as possible. I want to lead by example. Secular Jesus.

Beyond that, I see how damaging religion is when it's used as a wedge issue, and we contribute to that wedge by terrifying otherwise good people of faith and driving them into the political margins. I believe that people of faith are more susceptible to fear than non-theists, and that in many ways we scare them further to into the arms of fascists and plutocrats when we go on the offensive. Back in the day when democracy was strong, people of faith stood along side the labor movement, the civil rights movement and other importance social movements. All that 'care for the poor, turn the other cheek, love your brother, rich people are going to hell (eye of the needle)' stuff was taken seriously. I'd love to see that altruistic, socially conscious, admirable side of Christianity make a comeback, and drive the free market, homophobic, racist bible belt bullies back into the fucking swamp where they belong.

We don't have to agree, but I want you to at least understand (and hopefully respect) where I'm coming from. Good chat @hpqp.

Agree. I think this fits the recently removed Fail tag. It certainly wasn't PWNAGE. I don't necessarily agree that the Al-Qaeda got their ass kicked, for example. He doesn't represent my view, nor that of all leftists.

If multiple people attack me I'm going to grab a weapon. Once said weapon is involved in the fight I know that said weapon can be used against me. So when I use the weapon against my assailants I'm going to be sure they cannot get back up and use the weapon against me.

I've seen enough of "Humanity" to know that most people if they see ME getting MY ASS kicked won't do anything. So I better be prepared to defend myself. You all know this because you are on the same website as I am. How many videos do we see where people are being assaulted left on the street bleeding/seizing/whatever and nobody calls the cops?

Okay so you'd rather be in THAT situation where you're getting your ass beaten and everyone around you is watching? Allow yourself to be murderlized by some assholes because you thought they were going to stay down but then they got back up and they had a knife or some other weapon or managed to over power you with sheer numbers. Personally I'd rather go to jail for beating the shit out of 2 people with a metal pipe then end up paralyzed or dead because I was concerned about what "Everyone else" would think about my actions.

If being desensitized to violence makes me an "e-thug" or some sort of "racist" then I'm proud to be adorned with those labels. Because it would have enabled me to have the courage to walk up to the pipe wielding person and say "Please stop hitting them" in a calm and RATIONAL tone rather than SCREAMING at someone whose already fueled with Adrenaline and in "Fight for Flight" mode which will only make things worse and makes you perceived as a threat.

Calmly disabling someone who is only trying to defend themselves is the only solution to this problem aside from calling 911. Screaming constantly does nothing but agitate the situation and make it worse.
