Lawyer Refuses to answer questions, gets arrested

Khufu says...

I don't think saying "hello, how are you?" and "no, I don't know why you pulled me over." are going to incriminate you... but it will make you look like a normal person with nothing to hide. Someone that sits there staring forward ignoring the cop like this lady just looks like they've come straight from robbing a bank.

This behavior reminds me of some friends when I was a teenager that would act suspicious in a dept store and then walk quickly for the exit so that security would chase them, and if caught they WOULD be innocent (and get to act like the victim), if not they get an adrenaline rush and a story.

If these cops had arrested this woman right away, THEN sure don't talk to them. But she jumped the gun and created the situation where she was being arrested from what looked like a routine traffic stop.(whether that was justified or not.)

I was stopped by a cop once on a freeway leaving a city and he said a car with the same description of mine had been stolen in the area. I showed my registration and he let me go on my way... If I had refused to say a word and just sat there, I would have looked very guilty and would probably have been arrested.

Unbelievable save at the Isle of Man TT 2017

I touched wheels once on the newly built 402 hwy going 120 with another motorcycle going around a curve in the wee hrs of the morning (no traffic but not proud of the racing).

That clip brought back the memories of the adrenaline rush to try to stop the wobble or die if I failed.

Godsmack is how the wind feels
On the face of Mike Winfield
On his way home from the bar where he works
Nights - the worst nights, don't nobody tip right
And between the marriage offers and the fist fights
And if another mother fucker touch his wrist trying to pull him in to whisper
He ain't making it to midnight
Don't they know he got a lighter in his pocket
A matchbook in his sock and a block full of charred skeletons closeted begging to get out
He paused cause he's scared of airing out the thoughts
He can taste it in his mouth the sulfur and bitter carbon
Hearing all the burning bodies shout but no
That was a full lifetime ago and nobody ever has to know
He has never told well except Ronald
But that don't count he was sweet and exactly what he needed him to be at the time
Wine and candlelight and nice texts at lunchtime
Why had he not called Ron back
Guess there just wasn't a spark, ha!
No, no, musn't joke about these things
Wouldn't want to disappoint Doc Clark
So many hours on the couch
So many buried memories that take so many tears to get them out
Water hadn't never been a friend
Hold up - where had he seen that car before
Blue Acura dent on the left rear fender
Back again the sense of
Deja Vu
Strange things you
Never shake when you wake up in recovery
But suddenly noticing ash is covering his head cause it's raining from the sky
Dials home on his cell phone and gets no reply
What the fuck?
Where is the babysitter that he overpays
Body takes over and brain becomes disengaged
Michael is running his house is three blocks away
Adrenaline compensating for change in age
Since the last time that he ran it god dammit
Mike knows he gotta get home fast as he can
Looks up in the sky, glow's familiar
Knows those families died with similar
Awnings and on and on he keeps going
Hits the corner just as he hears the explosion
Screams come from the house, "Did you get them out?"
Mike asking the crowd that has gathered 'round
Tears running down his face
There's that familiar taste
He wishes it would take him to another place
Son and his baby girl in his home and he can't believe that it's gone in a cloud of smoke
And he's choking and running forward and hoping against hope that he might find them alive and well
When he knows the results too well and he knows that fooled himself
And he keeps walking towards the house rather what house is still left
No intention of stopping letting the smoke take his breath
Some strong arm rocks him aside Mike falls to the ground and cries
Why won't you just let me die
Why won't you just let me die

That's pretty sick *promote

How to Brake

SwimWithSharks says...

I am surprised he just went right back up to high speed, many years ago while on a motorcycle on a freeway a car in front of me didn't respect the lane being closed and went through a bunch of cones which scattered all throughout the lane: this was basically a couple of seconds in front so nothing I could do but hope that 1) I would hit no cones and 2) that if I did I wouldn't fall down and be run over by the rest of the traffic. Luckily I missed all the cones but I had to stop in the emergency lane afterwards to calm down from the adrenaline...

Should I Have a Baby?

ChaosEngine says...

It's an interesting social phenomenon that the only people who can speak ACCURATELY about the experience of being a parent are those who have done it, but the only people who are allowed speak HONESTLY about being a parent are those who haven't.

I have only ever met one person who said "look, I love my kids and I'm glad they exist but given the choice again.... I wouldn't have had them." And when they said that, the conversation just died.

Personally, I love kids. I teach a kids Aikido class, I love playing with my friends kids and most of all, I love loading them up on sugar and adrenaline and then handing them back to their parents while I go home for a beer and a nap

He downplayed the boys disabilities as coming down to just being ugly. Not true and kind of mean. Gabriel is a child after all. Thats like making fun of Justin Bieber or Hannah Montana. Wait. So this kid is performing publicly and cant handle mean comments? Really? If he is so fragile and cant laugh idiots off, dont make him do publicity stunts. Id say everybody got what they had coming.

Risque jokes are about the adrenalin of walking the edge, sometimes you just fall off (and get a fine, possibly, or a punch in your stupid face).

Man Arrested & Punched for Sitting on Mom's Front Porch

Well, I fully support the Black Lives Movement. Peaceful, and sometimes agitated, marching for justice. Gay Rights. That explosive moment at Stonewall in Greenwich Village, when the gay men fought back and said NO MORE.

Do I want a single woman who is in danger of being physically assaulted to "fight back?" A single gay man? A single black person? No, honey bunny, I absolutely do not. I think that is the height of idiocy for a single individual to fight back against one, two, three men. Especially when they are armed and have proven that they are capable of using that weapon in anger, fear, adrenaline.

Keep yourself safe, deescalate the situation if you can, submit to rape [edit] IF you think the man/men will kill you if you do fight back -- fight back if it is safe to fight back. (Interesting stat -- something like 90% of assaults against women are by single unarmed attackers. No gun? No knife? Try to avoid, try to deescalate, and if that doesn't work, fight back and yell and make yourself as difficult a target as possible.)

I took a self defense class years ago, geared towards women protecting themselves from violence by men. Not because I was afraid, but because of the psychological skills that we were taught about setting boundaries, taking charge, making choices -- skills needed in every day life that can also be applied to rare events of possible violence.

It was called Powerful Choices. Choices, my friend. Choices.

I must say, it is shocking to me that so many people live in a zero sum world. A black and white world. Where there is only one way to respond despite the actual circumstances. That this moment has to be used to fight larger battles or you are a failure.

I am a big fan of using your noggin to be safe. A fan of demonstrations (I prefer peaceful.) A fan of changing the laws, the procedures, the culture. A fan of acting strategically for the long run.

So you have me all wrong, my friend. All wrong.

Okay, so when men dominate women unfairly, you're happy for women to curtsy and live by men's leave..? Because men might threaten violence against women? Because that was the way it was? There was never a point where you stood up even though you feared it might result in harm to yourself?

There comes a point in time when it's no longer okay, when people are driven so far and they can't take it anymore. Surely you can understand that? How many women, or gays, or blacks, or "insert whatever you want here" have suffered because they were willing to stand up and fight against the tyranny?

Senator Tim Scott talks about being stopped by the police...

SFOGuy says...

I can't imagine what that would be like. To be a US Senator---and have the adrenaline and fear and humiliation 7 times a year. I've been pulled over twice, and never addressed/accosted on foot by police for traffic issues in the last past 16 years. Each time, adrenaline, fear, anxiety...once I was speeding; once, he finally recognized that he'd pulled over the wrong blue vehicle (was looking for another one)...I can remember each in detail.

7 times in one year. As a Senator. I don't really think I can comprehend.

I don't normally care what people have to say when it's read off a paper written by someone else, but...

"He's been stopped 7 times this year by police"

I haven't been stopped by police that many times in my life, and I'm almost 40.

Oh right. I'm not black. (obviously)

Citizen Four although well documented is dry...I am hoping that.
I'm hoping this grounds it and brings it to the people more...

I'm hoping they play it like a thriller.
Because the life he leads is boring but he must be running on adrenaline alone.

this did a good job with grounding.

I am hoping in the very end...he becomes a hero.

bareboards2 says...

Have you been to war? I know you were in the military, but were you ever in the field? I haven't. There is a lot of science about adrenaline and fear and acting in the moment.

You think that guy who blew up a friendly is back home bragging about that? If he couldn't forgive himself, it is more likely that he is one of the thousands who come home and then kill themselves. Nobody does that on purpose. "No repercussions" is a false statement.

That is all very different from thinking about it beforehand and calmly deciding that it is a correct military strategy to kill the families of our enemies. That is currently a War Crime, unless Trump gets elected. (Although there are military higher-ups who have already publicly stated they will not follow orders to commit such acts. Will soldiers on the field say the same, when their "commander in chief" gives them permission? Some will, some won't. I'd just as soon not test that, thank you very much.)

Besides. My Lai happened and My Lai was prosecuted and military training has changed. It isn't as if we can't learn.

We do need to stop invading sovereign nations for our own gain. But that is a different topic.

Stop Resisting

Januari says...

I've said this a few times but it never fails to amaze me.

As i understand it, this incident was preceded by a high speed chase which endangers everyone, the officers, the suspect and everyone on the streets. Adrenaline is high and i even understand maybe wanting to whack the guy.

But for the love, you have to KNOW their are helicopters and people recording you. Its absolutely inescapable.

So that leaves monumental stupidity and somehow not realizing this fact, or they simply have zero fear of reprisal or consequence.

I'm not really sure there is a third option.
