Only you can prevent unboxing videos

For a lot of commodity stuff, finding the answer to "what's in the damned box" can be neigh impossible, I use unboxing vids to find out when the manufacturer and amazon have not bothered to provide a good list. Not exciting, but sometimes useful. >> ^deathcow:

I think it's cool for crazy expensive stuff, or really difficult stuff (some 2000 pound CNC lathe for example.. how th' hell to do it) but for commodity crap, yawn

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

I agree. It's almost as good as unwrapping some shiny piece of unfingerprinted electronics yourself. It's nerd porn.>> ^MaxWilder:

Although I have only watched a few "unboxing" videos, I have to say I think they have their place. It's a vicarious thrill when your really want a gadget but can't afford it.
Also, if nobody wants to see them, they will go away. If they are common, it's because people want to see them. If that bothers you, don't watch.

the only thing more annoying is comments attributing Youtube downvote count to some common characteristic of all the downvoters

Like "X people are making unboxing videos right now"
Yeah, those used to be fun, but now every video has them as one of the highest rated comments.

"Imagine having to live with yourself being one of the X people that downvoted this."
How old is that trend? I feel like I saw it for a couple days, then I already saw the criticism of that trend. Either I caught the ass-end of that or trends are moving faster and faster these days.

What the hell are you people even talking about? My head explodes

Will our descendents find the packaging practices of the past to be enlightening?
Maybe these videos will provide the missing link in the evolution from packaged merchandise to objects devoid of any packaging whatsoever. No one will be able to argue that purchased items were simply willed into existence by an unseen force.

(So tired of searching for product reviews and finding tons of unboxing videos.)

parody

Until you tell me what this is a parody of, I'm removing it from the channel. Moreover, even if this is intentional comedy (which I'm not sure about), that type of content does not necessarily belong in Parody.

Time Machine - Windows 3.1 Unboxing

psh... I have a sealed copy of DOS 6 around here somewhere.

Actually, MS-DOS 6.0 was released six months or so after Windows 3.1. If the box said "Windows for Workgroups"--Windows 3.11--then you might have something there. But at the time of the release of Windows 3.1, MS-DOS 5.0 was the current version.

New PS3 'Slim' Unboxing

Lolthien says...

yeah, great its cheaper and all.. but am I the only one who thinks these 'unboxing ceremonies' be it for a game console, a new iPhone or whatever the hell are freaking stupid as hell? Why read all the shiznit on the flaps? I got about halfway through and I couldn't take it anymore...

The guy was just acting like the SECOND VERSION of a console that he has had for YEARS is the culmination of a lifetime of toil and regret.

Made my stomach churn, and I play video games all the f'in time.
