President Obama Reads Mean Tweets

bobknight33 says...

Who bailed out the banks - Obama

To make things worse Obama increased the debt 10 Trillion more than ALL fucking presidents combined. Talk about ruining the economy Its a noose on the necks of Americans for generations

The root cause was Democrats wanting home ownership for more people, which happen to be those who could not afford a house. Dodd/Frank led the way . Republicans tried a few time to curb/ change it but failed. Banks complied and wrote bad loans and sold them to larger banks and they packaged these bad loans to look attractive and the house of cards tumbled.

Katrina -- You seriously want to go there--- New Orleans and the storm that hit Jersey shore and Long Island ... Fucking disaster years later --- Yep your boy really hit it out of the park with the help didn't he?

9/11 waning completely ignored. Bullshit.. Clinton had Bin Laden had full intelligence to get him and did nothing.

I don't know if you have you head in the sand or up your ass.

Stupid?....well, that's the pot calling the clear glass pitcher black.
Far better leader?!? If only I thought you might be joking, but I know you aren't.
Show me something Obama suggested that's worse than a single one of these Bush/republican plans
Free Bailouts-a Bush/republican idea, repeatedly, getting nothing for it.
9/11- warned about but completely ignored by Bush.
Katrina-do I need to say a word?
The second great depression- (according to republicans)-caused by republicans removing the safeguards put on the stock market and banks, allowing them to play fast and loose, totally screwing our economy.
Iraq-again, do I need to say a word?
Putting the Iraq war 'off the books' to try to blame Obama for the cost that was ignored during Bush-uh...yeah, keep trying that.
Cutting taxes while raising spending outrageously-that was Bush
Raising the national debt more than any president before him-I know fox told you that was Obama, but it was really Bush. Even the first years when federal income was severely depressed (thanks to the economy Bush left us with) he didn't spend like Bush, if you look at the REAL numbers, not the white washed, no war, no homeland security, no bailout numbers the republicans pretend are real.

Because the republicans decided that their plan was to obstruct ANY idea from Obama (clearly stated BEFORE he took office, and followed through), it didn't matter a whit how he led, they refused to follow. It's not about his leadership, it's about the republican leadership thinking that beating Obama is more important than governing. Refusing a 10-1 deal where for every $1 in raised taxes they get $10 in spending cuts....and they said NO! Get real for once, it's not Obama's leadership or lack thereof that's screwing us, it's partisan politics being more important than the nation...and we all know which side plays that game more often and harder. (EDIT: I do admit that both 'sides' play that game, however.)
10 votes total? What the F*&K are you talking about. You mean 10 REPUBLICAN votes in the house? You are simply wrong he only got 10 votes total.
"The House has never failed to pass an annual budget resolution since the current budget rules were put into place in 1974. However this spring noted that the GOP-led Congress didn’t pass a final resolution in 1998, 2004 and 2006."
..."And the politics of the moment are a far cry from last year, when the House and Senate easily passed Obama’s first budget on the president’s 100th day in office. The budget measure last year did not attract any GOP support."
Well...enough said. I know you won't really take any of this to heart, you drank the fox news koolaid long ago and facts no longer matter.

Conservative Christian mom attempts to disprove evolution

shinyblurry says...

I think having a conversation about evolution versus creation can be fruitful. As a former lifelong agnostic who has experienced it, I can testify of the brainwashing that goes on the other side of the fence. It starts out early in childhood books and cartoons, then through public education, television, science fiction and movies. You're raised all of your life to believe the secular creation narrative, and your friends and family who believe as you do reinforce this belief. You are self-deceived into thinking your information filter is very large and sophisticated when it is very small and full of personal bias.

That can be why people have an adverse reaction when evolution is called into question. To them it is reality and if you were to remove that cornerstone their idea of the way the world is would come tumbling down with it. If someone doesn't understand their need for Jesus, it is a hard thing to consider accepting.

Facebook Fraud?

dag says...

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

As a business, Facebook seems like a house of cards ready to tumble. As a social site it actually has quite a bit of utility for someone like me who has had a scattered life over several continents - I've never had an easier way to keep in touch with friends and family.

Gravity extended agoraphobic trailer

Jinx says...

Of the many ways one might die I think death by hypoxia as you tumble into the black aint so bad. Your body would probably get a pretty nice cremation when your orbit takes you back towards earth.

ps. Kessler Syndrome is a bitch.

Gravity extended agoraphobic trailer

probie says...

I'm looking forward to this one, but I'm reserving judgment to see how many times they wind up in these death defying moments. I have to believe the movie is going to have more substance than "Great! I'm free tumbling to my death...AGAIN!!"

At least I hope it will.

Truck Driver Rescues Kitten

Sepacore says...

Right as the video switches from 4 to 5 seconds, you can see the kitten roll to a stop after it tumbles. Due to it's position on the road based on the next 2 vehicles to pass and the car it appears behind not having any back window open/moving and that it falling on it's back suggesting it didn't fall very far, it seems to have fallen out from under the larger silver vehicle that it appeared behind.

Fletch said:

Ok, did that kitten just appear out of thin air? I watched frame by frame and couldn't figure it out. Did someone toss it out of a car?

I took my car in for alignment years ago, and the mechanic who was working on it came into the customer lounge holding a kitten. He said he heard it meowing and found it in a front wheel well of my car. It wasn't mine. He had already called his wife to see if it was ok to bring it home if I didn't claim it (no pets allowed where I was living at the time). I was glad it found a home, but I was terrified driving back, wondering how many kittens had fallen out on the way to the shop. Luckily, I didn't see any kittens, squished or otherwise, so I hoped it was the only one. I still have no idea where it came from or how it got into my wheel well.

Plane crashes near freeway

BSR says...

You can see the man that was thrown from the plane at the 13 second mark on the right side of the frame. It looks like a dark blur then you can see his red clothing as he tumbles along. Pause the video and use the arrow keys to go frame by frame.

The sweet sound of just about anything getting gibbed in Quake 1, bonus points for pasting something in low gravity and watching the bloody bits tumble all over the place. Somebody needs to get Trent Reznor to do sound effects for another game.

I loved that zero gravity map!

Pedestrian Bounces Off Car Windshield, Sticks the Landing!

CreamK says...

The most important thing the pedestrian did was the jump. They did a test on some car show (can't remember what it was, could be mythbusters?) that if you jump straight up, the impact is much safer. It's to do with the friction of your feet making the impact happen horizontally, ie the car pushes you forward. Where as just lifting both feet off the ground, it becomes a tumbling motion and lot less inertia is transferred, ie you stay in the same place. Also if both feet are on the ground you have the awful possibility of being dragged under the car.

Cat Can Barely Wait For Food

chingalera says...

The damn machine looks like it's programed to torment kitty. It Make's a terrible racket while it sounds as if it's tumbling the portion it's going to dispense. Then, while still churning the kibbles, it begins to squawk in a Pokemonesque voice while STILL forgoing kitty's meal-time!!

(edit) Ohhhhhh wait.....I just watched it again....It's the neurotic cat not the cleverly-designed dispenser that's fucked up!!

Asteroid 2012KT42 passes earth closer than geosync satellite

Sagemind says...

I hear what you are saying. (but)
I'm not judging the event. This sounds fraking cool, and I'm sure it's a scientific wonder that we can now detect, analyze and examine events such as these. The science isn't lost on me or the work, study and teams that go into this sort of thing.

What I don't see is great video. I'm not asking for a cheesy edited version dumbed down for the 6-9 p.m. TV viewing public. I am expecting some explanation (as part of the footage), some commentary from the people working on the project, or some graphics explaining the likelihood, descriptions of projections, something.

If there was no description next to this, non of us would even know what we were looking at. Sort of misses the mark from the medium we are here to judge. I'm basing my vote on the video in front of me, not the event that's trying to be presented.

>> ^deathcow:

> that's a white dot on a black surface.
I missed that! I saw an asteroid, maybe 30 ft wide, perhaps showing tumbling motion, being tracked at a ridiculous custom rate of azimuth and altitude change, by a team from MIT working for NASA. Watch the stars fly by in the background.
This near earth object at just thousands of miles away from missing the Earth, is probably like missing a home run in baseball because your bat was 1/50th of a millimeter too low and 0.05 mph too slow.
