Shogun - Trailer

ant says...

It's a miniseries according to IMDB. Maybe they will spin off with another country or something like China.

newtboy said:

Same for now. Maybe between seasons (assuming there’s a season 2) I’ll check out the original miniseries on Netflix or something.

Earth at 2° hotter will be horrific. Now here’s 4° +

Oh Bob....you don't even know what the word "disproving" means, do you?

This twaddle only disproves the notion that you can discern actual information from snidely delivered propaganda.
He is right about one thing, he's not a scientist, he's a comedian who's jokes aren't funny, just like he says. He's not a journalist however, he's likely hoping he can be an internet opinion influencer.
America Uncovered....a spin off of the insane China Uncensored channel, dedicated to China bashing.

This new smattering of random right wing YouTube videos are not "proof" of anything but your bias and willingness to repeat nonsense you enjoy but don't understand.

Put your money where your mouth is, go buy some cheap ocean front property in Miami Dade or the Keys, and don't worry about the fact you can't get flood or hurricane insurance, those are leftie hoaxes and nothing to worry about. You're really going to show us! Odd that those properties are losing value with all those smart rich right wing investors fighting over them, isn't it?

armored skeptic vs that megan fox

Fairbs says...

I do appreciate her skepticism, but she gets so worked up about it I think she is a little batty. And if she used her own reasoning on what I believe are her religious beliefs, I think her head would spin off. It' s also brought up that there's lots of information available to explain evolution, but she's not willing to seek it out and this is also why she's not a scientist.

Pixar short - blue umbrella - Pixar is back!

Sarzy says...

Other than being a spin-off of Cars, Pixar had nothing to do with the production of Planes.

spawnflagger said:

I saw this in front of Monsters University a year ago. So not exactly new, but still good.
Pixar never went away (I'll ignore Planes, thank you).

Honest Trailers - Gravity

Payback says...

What bugged me the most about the movie is knowing you can't get to the other stations like she does. Those things are hundreds (thousands?) of miles apart at any one point in their orbits. They made it look like going next door for a cup of sugar.

Once she had the Clooneycination, I thought we were going to find out her getting back down to Earth was the same, and she died, spinning off into the void like Darth Vader was supposed to.

The Power Of One Pink Tutu

This is the project website: http://www.thetutuproject.com/

I've got a couple of thoughts. Firstly, if it's all just a construct of T-mobile, that would be a bit of a shame, but it's still a worthy cause and a useful spin off from the ad.

But I don't think that's the case. I think T-mobile have picked up on a developing project. It's probably a lot bigger amongst circles of people going through chemo than in the general population. I've not seen it before but it wouldn't be as targeted as me. I think a decent ad exec picked up on the project and ran with it. They get a decent feel good ad out of it, and the project gets a decent feel good ad out of it. Exposure for a project like this can be very hard to get so they probably jumped at the chance to get a big organisation involved.

The photos are good too. Whoever took them for whatever reason is good at their job and I can admire the art in them regardless.

artician said:

Err.... Tmobile viral? Theres this level of pretentiousness here with the "art" talk, and a sense of performers acting out scenes, and the fact that they talk about how its a phenomenon when most people who live on the internet probably only just heard about it through this.

I am admittedly bitter so could be wrong, but I don't put it past corporations to fake such a thing for an advertisement. It's too easy to manufacture realities today.

Jon Stewart Returns to The Daily Show Not Quite Himself

I wasn't surprised at all by his performance. After all the bits he has done on the show plus his absolutely hilarious podcast, I knew he had the chops. Does Comedy Central dare doing a second spin-off of the Daily Show?

Physics and Biking

oritteropo says...

He went through the entire vid without mentioning Williams Hybrid Power, the spin-off from the flywheel storage developed for the Williams F1 car in 2008/2009:

Unfortunately it couldn't be scaled up to the increased KERS output required for the 2011 season, at least not in a way that fit in an F1 car, so Williams now run the same electric KERS as everybody else. The flywheels are used in other racing series and in road cars though, as mentioned in their vid.

One very obvious difference between the prototype bicycle system in this vid and the WHP version is that they are using relatively lightweight composite flywheels and then spinning them to speeds that would tear apart the car flywheel from this vid, typically 20,000 to 50,000 rpm. This greatly increases the amount of energy storage available which increases linearly with mass, but with the square of rotational velocity.
