Police Shoot Family Dog in Front of 13yr old Boy

Lawdeedaw says...

Sorry this is so long in response--I forgot I wanted to respond and it is an ocd compulsion of mine... Seriously... I have OCD... (Now I have free time to write Yay.)

To the suspect topic, OJ Simpson was a forgone conclusion...Ramsey's parents were too. Casey Anthony's mother... Etc. These suspects were all the intense, single-minded already-formed conclusions that investigators focused on---to their tunnel vision.

A suspect is far more than just a person with a few

So what we are talking about really is what the police said? Well, reversing the situation, as you suggest, lets say the kid shot a police dog in the backyard and claimed self defense. What would the police say? I don't know and neither do you. What would his parents say? It was self defense? You bet your ass. A clean shoot? Sure. But lets say the kid brags about it and the parents find out later--they may do the right thing and snitch the child out.

But you bet your ass they would come out to little Johnny's defense early...

A "suspect" is an already forming conclusion which, by your logic, is an outrage perhaps?
They call it a "good shot" but then, let's pretend, a neighbor comes out and says the officers laughed about it later and noted how they weren't afraid, that changes things. It is mandatory procedure that every time a gun is pulled an investigation stays open for a certain period of time. Just like when child services come to your house, even when somebody reported you falsely--they still open the file and keep it open for their own protection...

A suspect has nothing to with a conclusion or "my logic." A suspect is just that, a suspect, there is no conclusion formed. If the situation was reversed, say a father shoots a police dog claiming it attacked his kid playing in his yard. There certainly would be an investigation as to whether the father was really was defending his family. The father would be the suspect of the investigation, but the police wouldn't comment to the press that it's still under investigation AND say it was a good shoot. In that situation, they would say they can't comment on an open investigation.
But in this situation the cop shot a family pet. There should be an impartial investigation as to whether it was justified. This BS line they give saying it was a good shoot, but it's still under investigation is basically them saying that there is no investigation, we've already concluded that no matter what, the cop did nothing wrong.

Cops Tampered with Witnesses at Trayvon Martin Crime Scene

Fletch says...

When I was a kid, cops were the good guys. Then I grew up. They are nothing but tools of the state, leeches of society. There are too many of them, and they have too goddamned much power considering the absolute lack of oversight they operate under. This Zimmerman asshole was exactly the type of person that become police officers every day, and exactly the type of person that shouldn't be.

Something is really strange about this whole thing. I'm not so sure it is outright racism, as Cenk says (although he may be right). It's almost as if this Zimmerman guy has a connection, or is somebody's kid or something. Hell, maybe he is a snitch for the local cops or something. I don't think we know everything yet. In any case, I still think Zimmerman murdered that kid, and his not being arrested right away (and still hasn't) is only going to bring more attention to the police, the witnesses, and whatever reason this asshole is still walking free.

F ck the police!

This is the point I'm always torn with. Everyone always says their are good cops...I'm sure there were cops there that didn't like this strategy thought it was wrong and unethical. And people say we shouldn't lump all cops together like they all believe in this stuff and suppress people in the way that they do.
Well why the fuck don't they stand up? Why are the cops that have a problem with the shit that's going on just standing there...not having a problem with it. This is why the idea of "Don't Snitch" and "Fuck the Police" gains ground. If you're not going to stand up for what's right in your OWN DEPARTMENT, you will get lumped in with everyone else.

This was an attempt to make us weak, this was an attempt to destroy or derail our message, our conversation. It has not succeeded. We have grown, we will grow. Today we received unconfirmed reports that over one hundred blue collar police refused to come into work in solidarity with our movement. These numbers will grow. We are the 99 percent. You will not silence us.

Police Brutality: Cop Shoots, Kills Unarmed Man & His Dog

Its not that I get upset, it is that a lot of people here do not distinguish between rogue cops and actual professionals. For the life of me I cannot understand it.

I do appreciate the response though! Very mature. If everyone could have discussions like we are having, I would not be so tempermental.

On a side note, I am very happy with the strides departments are taking to hold police accountable. For example, dash cameras. Most people think dash cameras are there for the officer---hogwash. It is for the violent, out of line response. Stiffer punishments is another (We do have a ways to go in that though.) And lastly, as shown here, the "No snitch" policy, made famous by criminals, is slowly waning. The "good ole boy network" is withering because now, you hide something and in some departments, it costs you your job...

>> ^Boise_Lib:
Whoa, Lawdeedaw, hold up there!
I was quoting the shill, "We have civil rights." HE meant that the cops have civil rights, while forgetting the victims right to not get shot in the head.
>> ^Lawdeedaw:
>> ^Boise_Lib:
"We do have civil rights."
Meaning the cop--not the dead guy.

So wait, the cop gets arrested, his "buddy" points out what he did wrong, and here we are saying the cop has civil rights and not the victim? It was a simple murder, period. Does a girl raped by a peacher and murdered have civil rights? Does a crack head in a deal gone bad have civil rights? Does a cop who is shot after helping save a woman's life in a domestic violence have civil rights?
Yours was a loaded question. This was not a cop, this was a criminal. Period.

This cop IS a criminal. I think you just got angry and misread my comment. I'm sure we agree on this subject and I'm angry also.

I would say if someone ordered, allowed or you followed the order to continue with your invasion after becoming aware of the leak and associating it with danger to your mission, then you and whom ever is involved are complete fucking morons. That's what I would say. It wasn't leaked to the Taliban first, it was leaked worldwide.

It is not up to Manning to ensure your safety.

>> ^MarineGunrock:

And would you say the same thing to me if I told you I was directly affected by these leaks? What would you say if I had said that my unit lead the force that invaded Marjah earlier this year, and the Taliban knew we were coming because of some piece of shit leaked a bunch of classified documents?
This wasn't just a simple case of "defiance" - it was a huge fucking breach of security. Yeah, the "entire fucking internet" probably would have preferred that we didn't invade a country. But so doesn't a lot of servicemen and women. So they should have to suffer at the hands of some 19 year old kid who doesn't know his head from his ass because he's just "fighting as he is able"?

Would you report on someone for illegally invading another country and killing women and children? How far would you go to stop such wanton destruction?

Your arguments are just imperial rhetoric. Everything the US does is always moral and justified, but anything anyone else does that even slightly resembles defiance is an intolerable offense. I'm sure the "entire fucking internet" would have preferred that no invasion had ever taken place. But it did, so now one fights as he is able against the lobotomized destruction machine the US has become.

Sometimes I feel so tired when studying history. The same patterns and arguments repeat themselves ad nauseam. What do you think the Soviets were saying in their propaganda during their invasion of Afghanistan? Didn't Russian mothers care about their children being blown up in the desert? Did that stop the US giving AA weaponry to the Taliban?

But you are correct. All that pales in comparison to Wikileaks telling it like it is.

>> ^MarineGunrock:

How is this guy a creep, asshole, cunt, moron, idiot or deserve any other derogatory name?
That piece of shit Manning stole thousands of classified documents that, in the wrong hands (read: the entire fucking internet) could cause a lot of harm to U.S. service members. The only thing this guy did was tell the authorities what the P.O.S. did. Would you trash-talk someone for reporting a theft, rape or murder? How the fuck is this any different?
