one of the many faces of racism in america

No. Someone became internet WITNESS.
They left the judging, jurying, and executing 100% to the guy's boss. Perhaps they WOULD have become judge, jury, and executioner...but they didn't. There's also absolutely no indication they made any demand of anyone.

No point arguing what might be if it were completely different...things would be completely different.

You sure SOUND angry to me. It's not a straw man to tell you how you appear to others. I note you didn't disagree, you only accused and projected....which is what angry people do. ;-)

EDIT: "Rat him out"? So, they had some obligation to keep his actions secret? You can't 'rat' on someone you aren't in collusion with in some way. You're sounding like the idiotic "don't snitch" insanity of the early 2000's that suggested reporting being the victim of crime was somehow a bad thing, far worse than committing the crime.

VoodooV said:

That doesn't help your case at all.

They mistakenly rat him out to one company and the actual company hears about it? That changes nothing.

Someone still targeted him and became internet judge, jury and executioner.

Angry?? You just love your strawman don't you Don't project your insecurities onto me.

Dashcam Video of Chicago Law Enforcement Shooting Teen

Lawdeedaw says...

As can any citizen who knows the no snitch code. I for one don't agree with keeping quiet, so I am glad certain justices are being followed up upon. 25 years ago this wouldn't have been prosecuted for lack of evidence. But body cameras and dashboard cameras are doing their job, which makes me happy.

I remember a retarded sifter, I forget who, once said that dashcams are FOR the cops...I laughed and wondered what shit he/she was on...of course they are not for the cops, as they rarely exonerate them, but often condemn them. This change was done on purpose, so be glad for that and hope for more change.

What's great that no one seems to have touched on in the media yet is that under most common day laws pretty much every cop could technically be convicted of being complicit in murder, an accessory to a hate crime, et al. Silence and solidarity didn't used to be tolerated from criminals.

Can't fool the tooth faery

newtboy says...

Boy, will she be surprised to find out Mom is a snitch for the tooth fairy and totally tipped off that cheapskate dentophile. I hope for mom's sake she's never heard the saying 'snitches get stiches'.

On another note, are her teeth so bad that she really thought a folded piece of paper was an indistinguishable substitute? I think she should have tried a rock.

police officer body slams teen in cuffs

newtboy says...

Closer to the truth would be to assume this (or some other physical abuse) happens at least 3-5 times a day in every major metropolitan area, not once per day in all the US. 9 out of 10 aren't caught on camera...and 9 out of 10 of those that are caught on camera are erased by the perpetrators themselves (the cops). It's only when a private citizen records them and doesn't get arrested themselves (and have the recording destroyed) that we see these videos , and that's multiple times a day (yes, we've seen exactly that happen repeatedly, destruction of video, often recorded by another, unseen citizen that comes to light after the cops lie about the incident.).

When a group commits violent crimes every single day without fail, and those in the group who are not being violent stand behind those that are, then this IS the norm, not an outlier. Sorry.

No, doing your job doesn't erase evil violent acts....neither does committing a 'good' act. If it worked that way, we wouldn't need jails, because nearly 100% of criminals have also done good things in their life, if that erased their crime there would be no need for cops at all. EDIT: Even doing 'good' 10 times as much as you do 'evil' makes you evil, not good, in my eyes. 100 good deeds do not erase one evil deed.

This is not the actions of a few, it's the actions of many, perhaps even the actions of the majority of officers, with the backing of ALL other officers and the force itself. That makes them ALL complicit, with the exception of the tiny, statistically insignificant few that actually report their fellow officers...and they get driven off the force by the majority of other officers that won't stand for 'snitching' by harassing, stalking, threatening, attacking, and not backing them up when they're in danger doing their job.

If ANY other group of people did the kinds of crimes cops have been caught on tape doing just this year alone, we would outlaw that group, seize their assets with RICO, and put most of them in jail. When cops do it, at best they usually get a paid vacation and a pat on the back.

oohlalasassoon said:

So, let's presume your statement that this happens everyday is true. In fact, let's double it, and say for every incident you hear about, there's another that goes unnoticed, and is worse. You're saying the egregious actions of 2 officers per day, is indicative of the type of day MOST cops lead on a daily basis, i.e. : the norm?

Speaking of things we never see... If, for every bad cop video posted I somehow unearthed and posted a video of a wholly unremarkable cop somewhere, clocking in, doing his thing , going against his nature and doing something that could be construed as benign, even good- would it change your opinion of cops?

I'm not the apologist you think I am by the way. I even agree with some of what you say. But I try not to blame the many for the actions of the few. Pretend that rather than cops we're talking about any race of your choosing and decide if I should change my ways.

Hedges' latest article on surveillance and snitches includes pure gold in the form of Solzhenitsyn quotes.

It's been 12 years since I read the Gulag Archipelago and I haven't spent a single thought on it throughout this entire chain of surveillance revelations. The corrosive effect permanent surveillance has on you - the stool pigeons are a wonderful illustration of it.
Even those who acknowledge the chilling effect often qualify it as less corrosive than full-blown "Zersetzung", as if there were a clear-cut line between the two. Dragnet surveillance is Zersetzung.

Anyway, loved this one:

A remarkable fresh breeze was blowing! On the surface we were prisoners living in a camp just as before, but in reality we had become free—free because for the very first time in our lives we had started saying openly and aloud all that we thought! No one who has not experienced this transition can imagine what it is like!

And the informers … stopped informing.

Speaking Properly Shouldn't Be Viewed As "Talking White"

I also never understood this. It seems like one more instance where a cultural methodology hurts the culture...just like the whole 'don't snitch' BS.

As an aside, I hate this thing where they just repeat the video for no reason.

Cop throws himself onto car and acts as if he were hit

newtboy says...

I see cops who are tasked with upholding the law and trained and paid well to do so, being abusive criminal bullies and douchebags with authority and 'immunity', and others ignoring that duty to support/shield fellow officers in that criminal activity, time and time again. Because nearly 100% of police act that way, as accessories after the fact at best if not actual accessories and in direct opposition to their duties to protect the public, yes, I think they are nearly all 'evil' and criminal. There is the rare exception of the officer that sacrifices his/her own career to do the right thing and report other officers, but they don't stay cops after 'snitching'.
Wow, so you think cops are a separate 'race'? Talk about a lack of critical thinking ability! Similarly trained 'professionals' that separate themselves from society and have their own separate homogenous 'culture' are far more homogenous than any 'race' of people. Your insinuation to the contrary only paints you in an extremely bad light, only one kind of person thinks entire races are homogenous.
A better analogy would have been 'Have you ever seen gang members committing crimes and drawn the conclusion that all gang members are evil?' I would answer that 'no, but I do think they're all criminal.' Gang members don't have a duty to uphold the law that they are shirking, so MIGHT not be 'evil' in their criminality.
Absolutely, I got an A in critical thinking, thanks for asking. Have you ever studied the subject?

lantern53 said:

You see an occasional video of cops doing something wrong and think all cops are evil.

Have you ever seen the videos of african-americans rioting or committing hate crimes against white people, or raiding stores or slugging white people or old white people? There are plenty available. Do you then draw the conclusion that all african-american people are evil?

You probably consider yourself a critical-thinker, don't you?

Black Range Rover Runs Over Bikers in NYC

newtboy says...

That is why I called what you said a Theory, not a claim of fact.
What you claimed was possible, and perhaps even likely in certain circumstances, but not at all borne out by the facts not in dispute, and the video seems to start as the group starts to pass the car.
It's funny that you got upset that you thought I misunderstood your position, but in the next post you continue to posit the same position, that the driver must have caused it, apparently because it has happened to you.
I point out that this car is not in traffic, so the splitting lane/getting cut off idea can't fly in THIS situation. The video shows the ire was garnered because the driver was calling the cops (or at least on the phone). It was then the bikers who decided it was there right to punish the guy for "snitching" by stopping him on the freeway and attacking him repeatedly with knives. That makes THESE bikers aggressive fags that deserved to be run over...in my opinion. I only hope more of them come to justice and have their bikes taken, or more get run over next time.
I'm not against bikers in the least, I'm against assholes that attack families as inconsiderate fag gangs with knives.

Chairman_woo said:

If you actually read what I put you will see that I tried (but apparently failed) to make it clear that I was suggesting a scenario where the Car driver MIGHT have been at least somewhat at fault for instigating.
I went to great pains to NOT make a direct statement of fact regarding what happened here, but rather to elucidate my own experiences of angry/dickish car drivers to suggest another possible angle for the disputed events leading up the the video. At no stage did I say this is actually what happened, I don't know exactly what happened (and NEITHER do you for that matter, the build up wasn't filmed and reports understandably conflict).

You might also notice I added a paragraph immediately afterwards to make it clear that I could just as easily envision a sequence of events where the Bikers totally started it (or at the very least acted completely disproportionately).

I actually had a semi argument with one of my best biker friends over this vid trying to make the opposite argument to the one I posted on here (i.e. that under the circumstances driving over the bikes might actually have been a valid response to a direct physical threat just as you suggested).

What I was doing here was trying to introduce a little objectivity and present and angle some may not have considered, clearly I failed in this regard.

The How and Why of Heroin Addiction

CreamK says...

Opiates are evil stuff, they make you feel like nothing really matters, that pink cloud.. I turn in to a ahole, i start stealing and treating the closest like crap. Fast addiction, fastest curve on any drug i've done. Absolutely wonderful if taken correctly, very hard to control and tolerance builds up fast making it also dangerous. Personally, i've been always uppers-man but heroin is the only one from the downer world that i could picture getting in trouble with. I keep my distance with it and have eradicated all h users from my life: you can't trust an opiate junkie, they WILL steal from you and snitch you up (the downside of that pink cloud, it clouds your morals big time...)

Oh, and prepare for constipation. That is no joke, watch what you eat, take a LOT of fibers and remember to keep yourself hydrated.

Nah just don't snitch. The cops can't operate without us, so lets take US out of the equation. No more talking to cops period, they don't exist.

You have the right to remain silent - full version

Yogi says...

So basically the problem here isn't that people talk to the police. The problem here is that some police and prosecutors are bastards and they have the ability to use these things against you. You stop making the Legal system all about winning an argument, maybe you start trying to get closer to the truth of the matter.

Also there's way too many laws and statutes making this ridiculously confusing. We should get rid of all these bullshit statutes, that is the problem NOT talking to the police. Especially the bullshit Crab and Fish laws, this is ridiculous, why can't we fix THIS shit!

This policy is basically advocating "Don't Snitch" no one talk to the police ever under any circumstances means the police will be segregated from the public even MORE SO. This is just insanity.

Also one of the examples he gives is the fucking bullshit one about Olympic or Professional Athletes. I hate these things more than anything. The Federal Government should focus on things that MATTER, not fucking athletes trying to take steroids. It's utter bullshit!
