Max Headroom: The most misunderstood joke on TV

newtboy says...

I loved Max Headroom. Remember the sci-fi TV series? I member.

Blipverts are exactly like skipping commercials at 3X speed imo. Surprisingly not many obese viewers have spontaneously exploded.

I liked this, but ran out of interest around 20 minutes in. I really didn't need a >7 minute explanation of what late night talk shows are. Even with Max narrating this should have been maybe 10 minutes long, not near 40.

Coronavirus:The Lost 6 Weeks America Wasted

vil says...

A good medium works for all viruses, when Trump was the virus, the media helped spread it.

Now fear of Covid is the virus, the media helps spread it.

There is not a lack of information about cancer. Its just not news.

People die for various reasons but that is not a valid excuse for killing people. Everyone dies eventually and no one wants to die sooner just for economic reasons. Bad sci-fi that is.

Proposing to kill 1 in 5 grandparents because they were sick anyway (and throw in a few random young people, mostly doctors and medical personel for good measure) to help the economy is very Ayn Randish but I bet on humanity as always. Even the chinese eventually decided to fight the virus rather than "keep the economy open" and just let some people die.

Cuttlefish given 3D glasses to determine distance

newtboy says...

Next time we take the subjects to sci-fi night at the drive in.
I'm not sure I approve of super glueing 3d glasses to cuttlefish, even though reports I've seen claimed it's harmless and wears off fairly quickly.

Ice Age is Coming 1978 Science Facts

newtboy says...

Yep. Who you gonna believe? A super smart scientifically minded VP or an actor who played a fictitious 60's sci fi character who "found evidence" of esp, human/plant communication, Ogopogo, aliens landing at Nazca, mummy curses, ghosts, and Stonehenge as a giant magnetic force field that covers Britain....all in season one.
The question itself exposes your irrationality.

Who are you going to believe: Al Gore or Mr. Spock? I think we all know the answer to that question.

Demonstrating Quantum Supremacy

newtboy says...

No, only saw the movie, but I have read many of Ursula K. Le Guin's books. She is the author credited with coining the word almost two decades before the first version of Ender's Game was written, and the idea of instantaneous communication in sci-fi is even older.

Have you by chance read Ender's Game? It's been a while for me, but I believe those books used this technique for interstellar communication, think it was called the Ansible.

VFX Artist Shows You TRUE POWER of Warships!

Sagemind says...

Way too mush positive enthusiasm for a machine that is purely made to kill people. These human killing machines are brutal in their efficiency. I almost feel like the music should be a sound of dred with a somber tone explanation. Discussing them as entertainment seems wrong to me. Not only that, but this is the decommissioned ship, they didn't even get to the more modern ships which can kill way more people, more accurately, and at greater distances.

Of course, this is all to promote a video game, and they want you excited to buy and play their game, and pump them full of micro-payments. I also know their are people that thrive on guns and killing, but as a human being, to me, this seems very uncomfortable.

No, I'm not anti-video game, just anti-realism in video games and killing people. Give me Aliens and sci-fi, or demons and monsters any day

Love Death and Robots 1x13 - Warship vs Jets

I like the series a lot. Too over-hyped though. A few meh episodes, but what I enjoyed the most is the varied art styles for each episodes. Overall just very Sci-Fi Lite. Nothing too complicated. Binge worthy.

With attitudes like yours, it's not wonder so many vegans are leaving Earth and returning to the Vega sector. It's hard enough being here and missing the blue light of our home star. (I'm referring to Carl Sagan's "Contact" for anyone not sci-fi literate )

Bwaaahahaha!
Vegans (or Vogons for that matter) complaining about false advertising is like Hotblack Desiato's ship calling a cup of dark tea "black".
