Why do YouTube views freeze at 301?

RFlagg says...

I've always understood this part, what doesn't make sense is the resolution jumps are inconsistent and they don't make an option to set which "HD" or "SD" version I want. Most videos seem to start at 360 and jump to 480 once I go full screen. This is fine, though I would rather it start at 480 when available. Then sometimes it jumps to 720, which is less fine on my crappy DSL, but on occasion it hums along so it is nice to watch it there when it is streaming okay. It would be nice if instead of an "always play in SD" option, but to set which resolution we want as a default for both normal and full screen viewing, then let me manually change it if I decide I have the bandwidth to go more.... that and some videos go back to playing a commercial when when you drop out of full screen which is aggravating and I think it relates to the resolution changes...

The Word - United We Can't Stand Them

The content industry has made everybody a pirate.

westy says...

its prity obvouse , the one things pirated content lacks is reliability and quality ( although often better than lagit stuff at the moment )

if publishers offer games music films as instant download load instant access on different pyament plans that span all media then they would make a total killing and allso remove the second hand market which is costing them way more than bloody general pirating.

for example I should be able to google a film and the top link should be to a websit for that film the website should allow me to

1) buy a phisical copy that comes with a poster and colector shit ( can be same price as blue ray now or more its a colecters edition for fans this would be the same for physical media companies would still make a killing of this as collectors and fans will still buy these for the physical item and promotions.

2) Allow me to instantly stream the film on-line for a set fee based on how old it is
under 3 months 5 USD for SD streem 7USD for HD/3D streem with ablity to watch it any time that week older than 3 months 3USD SD $5HD
Older than 6 months 1USD SD $3HD

3) have a subscription service for all films produced by all companies
£15 a month gets me full acess to all the above streeming and downloading and storing and play back on all platforms same time as they come out in cinema ( people go to the cinema because its the cinema/socail thing, not because of the film ( most people will watch films at home in the future)
£2.50 a month gets me full access to stream all films in SD and a discount on HD 1 off streems.

The whole point is that you make it conveant and price it so that everyone or each house gets it by default you allso link a socail aspect of it so people get there own account for the sake of comments and sharing stuff on face book , the social side is why multiple people in a single house would get it.

Yes, she blocked the street. Big fucking deal. Yes she was an asshole, but the blocked drivers were delayed for what, 5-10 minutes?

Yeah, and if she hadn't threatened to falsely accuse him of assaulting her, this probably would've gone away quietly. I don't think anyone really cares that she blocked the street.

>> ^longde:

I would think that when the guy has posted her name, number, and business, inciting people to harass the woman, he opened himself to prosecution or a lawsuit. Or some heavy retaliation. If I was directly responsible for kicking bread out of someone's mouth, I would be constantly looking over my shoulder.

Where did he "incite people to harass" her?
From the youtube description:
Sarah Duncan from SD Knitwear, Bath - www.sdkbath.com and her husband need to learn that they cannot interact with people in the way that they did in this video. I/we sincerely hope that Sarah Duncan and her husband are taught a lesson in Court for assault and perjury in stating that she will lie to the Police and claim assault against her!

Yes, he published her name and business, but he explicitly states he hopes she learns a lesson in court. There is zero basis for a lawsuit there.

As for "heavy retaliation", are you suggesting he should feel physically threatened? That's ridiculous.

I've already made my position clear on the threatening or abusive phone calls and emails, but if you're stupid enough to threaten someone with a false claim of assault while on camera, being mocked and ridiculed on youtube is exactly what you deserve.

So, after someone gave out the apk to install for the rest of the world (thanks for nothing Google), I tried it for about 5 minutes.
* First negative: It took up 6Meg of my internal storage even after moving it to SD Card
* Second negative: After only that 5 mins of syncing it had used up 9 Meg of internal storage.

Um, I know that most new android phones have heaps of internal storage, but why the hell can't it put all that data on the SD card dammit. I have gigs free there and only 30 Meg free on my internal mem.

Uninstalled and unimpressed.

Evolution is just another item in the list of fact we atheists can use to disprove religion, since according to pretty much every religion around, evolution is not real, even though it's a PROVEN fact, studied, analyzed and even used in several fields of science on a practical level, to the point of exhaustion.
It's all you have, and we have to define what we're talking about when you say evolution, because there is microevolution and macroevolution. The difference between them is, one has been observed and one hasn't.

Are you actually stupid enough (and I do believe you are) to think there were no atheists before Darwin came around, or to mix atheism and darwinism?
Of course there were atheists around before darwin, but they had no basis for a religion without a creation story.

"Naturalistic evolution has clear consequences that Charles Darwin understood perfectly. 1) No gods worth having exist; 2) no life after death exists; 3) no ultimate foundation for ethics exists; 4) no ultimate meaning in life exists; and 5) human free will is nonexistent."

"Dr. Gray goes further. He says, `The proposition that the things and events in nature were not designed to be so, if logically carried out, is doubtless tantamount to atheism.' Again, `To us, a fortuitous Cosmos is simply inconceivable. The alternative is a designed Cosmos... If Mr. Darwin believes that the events which he supposes to have occurred and the results we behold around us were undirected and undesigned; or if the physicist believes that the natural forces to which he refers phenomena are uncaused and undirected, no argument is needed to show that such belief is atheistic.' We have thus arrived at the answer to our question, What is Darwinism? It is Atheism. This does not mean, as before said, that Mr. Darwin himself and all who adopt his views are atheists; but it means that his theory is atheistic, that the exclusion of design from nature is, as Dr. Gray says, tantamount to atheism."

"The fact of evolution is the backbone of biology, and biology is thus in the peculiar position of being a science founded on an unproved theory-is it then a science or a faith? Belief in the theory of evolution is thus exactly parallel to belief in special creation-both are concepts which believers know to be true but neither, up to the present, has been capable of proof"

Needs more quotes. But I guess that's what religion is all about, rely on things someone said before you and not think for yourself.

Colo(u)r me jealous. I would love to see him in a small venue. Saw Doug Stanhope perform in a 1800 sq ft dive bar once. That was pretty amazing, but uncomfortably crowded. I'm going to email him and bug him about coming back to SD. If you listen to the 08-16-2010 podcast he reads my letter for advice about 5:00 minutes into it. That was so awesome to hear his advice.

In reply to this comment by Deano:
You got to see him live, he's a powerhouse on stage. Total command of everything. Did a 75 minute set. Like he promised on the podcast he gave out the Let It Go dvds for free. In a way I'm glad he wasn't playing a bigger place - at 400 people it was intimate enough to resemble a comedy club. We were also treated to an extended bit on the gold-digging whores :

In reply to this comment by rottenseed:
ME TOO! Minus the London bit. I missed him when he came to San Diego...stupid girlfriend's family reunion >:

In reply to this comment by Deano:
Definitely! I listen to the podcast, got the DVDs and saw him at the London show last Sunday :

loved it, although it looks like NBC stole their tech from netflix before actually having the hardware to use it. The stream auto senses when it can kick in HD but kept kicking back to SD, for half the clip I thought they were making things out of focus as part of the skit.
