Corey Feldman's Crazy Today Show Performance

Sagemind says...

I like him.. I like what he's trying to do.
I think he should have closer friends to bounce ideas off of.
I think he needs a better manager, unless he's managing himself, then get one.

He took a chance, and I admire him for it. We all need to fail sometimes. I do however, feel like they were setting him up to fail. Never should an artist have to interview and defend their work before they've even performed - I really don't know what that was all about - he was on the defensive before he even started.

I really saw this as an artistic performance piece. The song had catchy parts but was missing the glam. The sound quality was poor. Like I said - Better management, maybe a little less Retro-MJ look.

His name was Steve, and he did the Retro Request Show on Sunday nights. I went to a party at the Northern Hotel up in oldtown FoCo, and he rented one of the apts there. You got two free doses when you paid tho get in, and it was hella strong and I could not maintain around all sorts of people. He ended up babysitting me the rest of the night, and we entertained ourselves by digging through his vinyl. He let me come up to the studio while he did his show a few times. When McReynolds and I went to see Hole together after we broke up, and he ditched me for some ratchet chick he met that night. Steve helped me get even by getting me back stage to watch the show, and I got to chill with Drew Barrymore after. Damn, I miss KTCL, what the station used to be like until Clear Channel bought them out. What it is now is pretty depressing, right doll?

Doom (Zero Punctuation)

ForgedReality says...

I wonder if you actually played the original Doom. It HAD autoaim. It also had reloading, so I don't get how he says to be really retro, it wouldn't have weapon reloading.

It is pretty sweet.
It is the most like the old doom than any other shooter.

No autoaim.
Lots of death.

Cheap on ammo.

Throwback on a Comeback: The Last Cassette Tape Factory

kir_mokum says...

the point is to be able to make cheap and very short runs to a physical medium. much like the split 7" in punk's haydays. (45s are also making a comeback right now in different scenes for the same reasons). there's also the rise of the future/retro aesthetic see vaporwave, outrun, seapunk, chillwave, etc. the rise of these things has a lot to do with the last remaining DIY philosophies that exist today. to dismiss it as "oh hipsters" misses the point.

Slavoj Zizek: PC is a more dangerous form of totalitarianism

Truckchase says...

Retro edit for victory! Yup, that's "TOTALLY OUTSIDE THE FRAME OF YOUR DUMB COMMENTS EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME".

* "DUMB EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME" = "tongue in cheek".

Yep, and then I'll melt them with my laser eyes.

Really not that weird that you're a US citizen; you share your countrymen's inability to realise when someone is being tongue in cheek.

Modern Trailer for Empire Strikes Back

The Simpsons - YOU'RE NEXT

poolcleaner says...

Way more disturbing than the actual movie it's portraying. Although the movie "You're Next" ain't all that bad. It's a pretty typical slasher but one of the victims turns out to be an ex wilderness survival child born to parents who lived off the land in Australia, so she sets up all these intricate traps to slow down and kill the murders. Pretty awesome at times.

The art film director boyfriend who get shot in the beginning is real life horror director Ti West, who directed an excellent retro satanic cult horror movie called "The House of the Devil". I love that shit. Had one of the actors from You're Next.
