My dog loves Possums - She brings them home!

yea growing up here in the deep south me and my brother would catch them using a spotlight, stick and bag.

there was an old black man in town that would buy them 5 dollars a piece, they ate them and he'd skin them and sell the skins.

course my dad was a big hunter and thought it was neat that we found a small part of hunting we could make a little summer money with.

usually after 2 weekends me and my brother would get about 20-30 dollars each for the possums we'd bring the elderly black man and he was always so nice to us.

but he probably made a ton more money with the hides since possum, raccoon hides sell for a lot here in the south, huge market in them.

Poor thing.

If you poke them in the butt with a stick, their tail will automatically wrap around it. It's a natural reaction from when they're first born (usually in trees, as far as I recall).

You can also grab them by the scruff of the neck like a cat or dog. Unless they're rabid, or really seriously cornered, they will usually continue to play dead so you can move them easily.

My grandfather used to tell me stories about "hunting" possum in the south, where they'd drive around at night until finding one on the road. They would always freeze in the headlights, and then my grandfather would get out with two sticks and approach it. He'd do the poke-in-the-butt with one stick, and when the possum had coiled its tail around it and could be picked up, he'd lift it and place the other stick under its chin. Then he'd raise both sticks to the same height and, supposedly, the weight would break it's neck and kill it instantly (supposedly).

Not read it yet, but here's the report

Looked at it, found the presentation to be lots of arrows pointing at things that look like printer errors, document touchups, scanner errors, crap on the document when it was scanned, or whatever else.

They apparently have like 3 different versions of it on different kinds of paper, blah blah.

Until they can take more time and explain it better, it looks like meaningless BS presented as solid proof. I'd like to think if they are going to edit up a bunch of documents, they'd at least make them all the same and not spell THE as TXE in one version. Oh and put a smiley face on the signature, because nothing says proof like a weird smiley face that looks like two pen stop marks.

Next it'll be they tested his blood and detected no American in it.
It's like midichlorians but makes you crazy over time as you drink bad moonshine and eat tainted possum.

I know exactly what you mean, I put that down to the fact he is a dog and it's normal to have a foreign breed. Do we ever find out what breed he is? I'm surprised the Aussie Ryan is weak, as you say. Then again Elijah Wood is king of the underplay, he does SO well in this I think. Also it seems the Aussie one branches out a bit more for Wilfred, but I suppose there's time if they make another series. Glad you're getting to enjoy it all over again anyway

Hey, just watched the first episode of the US Wilfred. I think it's possibly better than the Aussie version, which looks like a rough draft compared to the finished US product. Elija Whatsisname is a much better human than the Aussie version.

I love the way they don't make any effort to explain why he's an Aussie bloke, and don't make any tired Aussie stereotype gags, but he references Australian things like eating possums - which dogs do, by the way.

NO!!! I've tried to buy the DVD boxsets but you can't get them here yet, but I imagine that will change soon. That was as a present for my mate for christmas though, I'll just download them once season 1 US version is finished on TV. I'm sure it'll be funnier

Have you seen the original Aussie series, AC? Worth a look. I sifted the first scene from the first episode a while ago.
