Without Planned Parenthood, what's left for women in the US?

Fucking Move.
I know I know there's reasons and principles and shit but if I was in a place that sucked nothing could keep me there. Fucking move everyone, lets all just move somewhere where you're treated right.
Ok story time. My brother is sort of weird and effeminate. Not really gay, just kinda goofy and girly. My family moved to North Carolina, cause there was a job for my dad. The kids at the private school were utter fucking dicks. Always mean, backward little fucks. So they picked up and moved again, this time to Iowa. They couldn't be happier, tons of nice people about and a school where my brother is accepted.
So yeah, you don't like some place, or some place doesn't like you well this is America.
Fucking Move.

By your logic people should run away from problems instead of confront and eliminate them? Sure, I understand how easy it is to just ignore a problem however ignorance of the issue doesn't benefit society as a whole. See, that's the problem with a significant portion of society today - always looking for the path of least resistance, yet they go ahead proposing "solutions" like moving away that are actually way more hassle.

Yes that's all very logical except the timeframe. It's going to take too long to solve the problem according to this person so move now. It's not about ignoring a problem, it's about soloving it through going someone else. This isn't like the last place in the US where Planned Parenthood exists, it's one of the worst backward places that's trying to get rid of it. So go somewhere where you can have it.

Also while you're moving you can fight for society as a whole, you don't have to suffer in that place to wage that battle. If you're not treated right or respectfully in a place, why stay there? You make a good point but it doesn't counter mine adequately at all.

Not exactly easy if you are low income and don't have an independent form of transportation. I don't think she was making this video to bitch about it only for herself. She made a point of how long it would take someone to get to one of the 13 clinics with public transportation. If someone is dependent on public transportation, they are not likely going to have an easy time moving to another state.
There are sometimes situations that make fucking moving impossible.

No there isn't. People hitchhike, or walk. They leave war torn countries everyday. Leaving and starting over is never impossible, it's just hard.

And then I woke up in China (Travel Talk Post)

From a fellow Halifax / Dartmouth native who also recently visited Vancouver and Vancouver Island, I feel your pain. Although, I'm now in North Carolina rather than China, even this relatively small geographic hop makes me feel out of place at times.

I hope all goes well with your move and you can continue to contribute to the sift. Good luck!

@spoco2 @messenger @bareboards2 I think this is a great discussion.

I'm a SharePoint Consultant and Software Engineer from North Carolina, but I'll be honest, I disguise my accent when I'm speaking with clients, if only because it sounds strange to my ears to say "Let's talk about your information architecture" with a drawl. I'm also not truly a native, having only lived here since high school.

That said, I deal with locals on a daily basis who are both highly technical and very southern. Accent just doesn't equate to intelligence. A better metric would be whether they go to church on Wednesday night (although some of the finest software engineers I've worked with have also been devoutly religious, so w/e.)

In North Carolina we have centers of civilization, usually areas surrounding the I40 corridor, and then we have the boonies. I would invite you to come to Chapel Hill or Durham on a Friday afternoon and have some drinks on the patio.

@VoodooV ok, you go on believing that you do not hold any prejudices against anyone, and I'll continue trying to remove one I know I have.

Don't strawman. I never claimed to never hold a stereotype or prejudice.
I'm just calling the sift out on their prejudices.

You're hardly calling anyone out on having prejudices, being that I SAID I had this as a prejudice, and I wanted to get rid of it.

Man.

I just spent some time looking up notable people from North Carolina (where this church is), and there's some great thinkers, poets, computer scientists etc. Also, North Carolina had the State's first public university, which is pretty cool.

I KNOW that everyone in those areas aren't stupid or bigoted, hence why I wanted to hear people talking with that accent yet being deep thinkers... just so my little brain has a yin for the yokel yang. But hey, take great offence if you like.

I cannot help myself. Time for a rambling rant...

Why would a society that is so capitalistic in nature look to the government for job creation? What happened to the invisible hand of the market? (These are sarcastic and rhetorical questions btw)

There are fewer jobs for so many reasons that have nothing to do with government inaction.
eg: HP to layoff up to 30,000 staff

These layoffs are proposed because the company profit to employee ratio is less than Apple or Google. This is a crazy reason to layoff people. Wouldn't it be better to try and drive up revenue rather than cut jobs? What would you like the government to do about something like this?

Personally I think that exporting of raw materials and outsourcing of manufacturing and services should be made illegal! However that would mean that we would be paying a lot more for those goods and services that we enjoy at child labour prices today. That would turn that little WalMart smile upside down.

It is certainly true that through civil projects the government could create jobs but that would increase either taxes or the deficit (or both). Alternatively they could reduce taxes for all, giving people and businesses more to spend (oooh, probably not a good idea with that multi trillion dollar deficit sitting there and that massive military machine that needs constant feeding).

I agree with GenjiKilpatrick, if you want to spur the economy and see an increase in the number of jobs look to yourself; inovate, create, sell, expand, hire. Don't sit back waiting for someone to open a door for you.

Nice graph. I'd would not call it a MILESTONE. But it does not do enough. What about all those who stopped looking? Those people are not counted and unemployed. They still need jobs.
You must live in a glass bubble. There are less and less jobs to be had.
I drive all around the western half of North Carolina - Every month I see another shop close here and there. It has not stopped. It is sad to see.

I feel for you that you don't understand reality but just what the Party puts out as "truth"

You're right, he hasn't been a good jobs president. He's substantially reduced government employment. Unless you had some other suggestion for how he could create jobs?
