Local News Explains Anwar Al-Awlaki and the Constitution

Taint says...

Did you miss the part where I said I'm against assassination by presidential fiat?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you must have.

"ring of hate and evil"? Seriously?

You insinuated that partisanship is affecting my ability to reason, then link to a video that has jack shit to do with anything I said about the hypocrisy in news coverage. I point out how way off you are, and you call me a shithead.

You're the one who down voted me, douche, and clearly without even reading what I wrote.

"I guarantee you watch more Fox News than I do"

"so stop being a judgmental douche"

Jesus Christ, do you even read what you write?

Everything you accuse me of is exactly what you're doing. You're going to guarantee how much Fox News I watch?

I don't need the fucking Nielsen ratings to your house to see what you're typing.

"Also, this is a local affiliate which has no real connection to the bullshit politics of the network"

Hey, one last defense of the hard hitting local news team!

Your side of this conversation is a parody of itself.

Who are you referring to with "we"?
Since you didn't comment on the video you linked, nor did you post it, I assume by "we" you mean Arlen Spector and the republican party?
Is that the "we" you're a part of?
Since that would mean you're identifying yourself with the Republican party while accusing me of partisanship?
Is that the "we" you were referring to? You and Arlen? Or you and your fellow republicans? Or perhaps you and the organization of News Corp who you seem intent on defending for some reason.
I pointed out the obvious selective outrage of Fox News and its affiliates because it's relevant to this video in particular, and is beyond evident to anyone not under a rock during the Bush Administration.
You respond with a link from C-Span.
So you either think that my comment was directed toward you and your buddy Arlen Spector, or you have your head so far up Rupert Murdoch's ass that you don't even realize that you're defending Fox News, declaring yourself a Republican, and missing the point entirely.

Smell the hypocrisy.
Don't even fool yourself and think that Fox news and its local affiliates would have said a word if this guy was assassinated by a President Bush or Romney...
Nor would they raise their voice with even a hint of protest at any previous presidential assassinations, or the lack of due process in confining any one of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay like José Padilla, another American citizen.
But now that President Obama is in charge, this douche bag Anwar Al-Awlaki becomes one of Sarah Palin's "real Americans" deserving his day in a civilian court defended by Gregory fuckin Peck.
I don't like that our president can assassinate at will either, but this selective outrage is so phony it's retarded.
The president assassinated someone and violated the constitution? Oh my god, welcome to fifty fucking years ago!

That's what you think this is about? Partisanship? Man, I'm so sick of this two party system. It's a cancer to reason. I wish both of them would rot on the vine of tyranny.
We complained about this under Bush too. http://videosift.com/video/Americans-have-no-right-to-Habeas-Corpus

No need to be a shithead. I'm anti anyone being assassinated. If you can't agree with that, then fine, go on being someone in favor of murder and assassinations, and stop looping the rest of us into your ring of hate and evil. I guarantee you watch more Fox News than I do. I watch zero of it unless it comes across the occasional internet video here and there, so stop being a judgmental douche, thanks.
Also, this is a local affiliate which has no real connection to the bullshit politics of the network.

Guy Vs Fox News at Occupy Wall Street

Taint says...

My first impulse was that this is fake as well.

I just can't see an employee of news corp letting an interviewee dominate an exchange like that. I imagine they have a manual out there that teaches these people how to interrupt others before they can formulate a thought, right alongside when it tells you how to make a sweeping statement and disguise it as a question.

Also, I can't believe Quantumushroom had the balls to even comment on this video, much less accuse anyone of using rhetoric.

>> ^Duncan:

If you told me that this interview was staged by Occupy Wall Street, I'd probably believe it. Not because of the points he made, but because he was able to make them. That reporter was unusually polite for Fox News.

FCKH8 - Cause To Support Gay Marriage

kceaton1 says...

The funny part is that those that hate something tend to have a correlation (this means not may, not will) in actually doing the same thing, but hiding it due to shame (or some other psychological barrier and under such terms as: Frenemy, love-hate, ambivalence, cognitive dissonance, etc... ).

In an environment like the Internet this message can be more powerful that it ever would be elsewhere. Anonymity allows users to break out of their ethos, the people that see swearing as "not a big deal" i.e.: they use it when in company of a select group -- they are the target for this video. The videos swearing and comedy are hooks. Hence the tag: viral.

The swearing is fine and I don't develop worry from words easily unless they are things like: patriot (act), religion(s), God(s), ghosts, all supernatural, tea party, insurgents, Limbaugh, Bill'O, Fox, Glenn B, etc...

/News Corp. employs the very same tactics in case you've missed it.

UFO Conference 9/29/10

Eukelek says...

>> ^krazyety:

What could they possibly gain from that?

Fear is a very useful tool, distraction is also, while a sense of belittlement might help one control the masses. I´ve asked myself that question many times, but not so much governments I think, but more people with power. I don´t mean to sound paranoid or conspiratorial, but more skeptical; you look at various things like the disclosure project, history channel: UFO documents, etc, x files, etc... Not all, but most seem to be coming from right wing biased sources or military links or news corp: fox.

Like so many falacies without proof, from ghosts, the coming of christ to 2012 doomsday and stuff, people that have a reason to want to believe because it gives meaning to their lives for x or y reason, doesn´t mean its part of everyone´s reality. Although I still maintain an open mind.

TDS: News Corp. Gives Money to Republicans

aimpoint says...

Although the percentile number does show a bit of bias from different companies, the number count of the donation clearly makes News Corp stand out the most

>> ^NetRunner:

News Corp (owner of Fox): $1,074,700 to Republicans, $105,500 to Democrats
(91% to Republicans)
GE (owner of NBC/MSNBC): $410,100 to Republicans, $688,900 to Democrats
(37% to Republicans)
Viacom (owner of CBS/Comedy Central): $64,000 to Republicans, $108,700 to Democrats
(37% to Republicans)
Disney (owner of ABC): $95,000 to Republicans, $110,500 to Democrats
(46% to Republicans)
Time Warner (owner of CNN): $41,500 to Republicans, $70,500 to Democrats
(37% to Republicans)

NetRunner says...

>> ^Mashiki:

What are you talking about? The parent companies of NBC, CBS and ABC all do the same thing. The only difference is they're happily lying to your face about it.

Bzzt. Completely wrong. First, this is all a matter of public record, both on the part of Fox, and the parent companies of the other three major networks.

Second, there's a big difference on the partisan split (and total amount) of money being spent. According to CNN, we're looking at numbers like this:

But wait, you're saying, doesn't this go to show there's a liberal bias in all other forms of media? No, not really. It's pretty normal for companies to tilt their spending to the party in power, especially when they hold the White House, and large majorities in both chambers of Congress.

You can identify partisan organizations by the way they always lean toward one party, regardless of their level of control over congress, or merely by the naked one-sided nature of the tilt (like 91%!). In the case of News Corp, you have both.

Oh, and a final point about the quantity of contributions. I'd note that while GE's total donation amount is comparable to News Corp's, GE isn't just a media organization, it's also a major manufacturer, and a defense contractor. If you compare them to just the pure media companies, you see that News Corp donated nearly ten times as much just to the Republican party as the next largest media company's total spending on campaign contributions.

Is this because of the supreme court ruling earlier this year?

It is exactly because of the supreme court ruling. Corporations = individual citizens in the USA today, so while in years past I'm sure they hid such things, today it is perfectly legal.

Frankly I think the FCC should be suing the pants off Fox News because clearly, it is no longer news. They shouldn't be donating en mass to anyone. John Stewart is 100% correct, the republican party should be donating millions and millions to Fox, not the other way around.

TDS: News Corp. Gives Money to Republicans

Mashiki says...

>> ^Psychologic:

Republicans didn't do anything wrong here. Why should they refuse donations?
Newscorp is also free to donate money to whoever they want, but it is a bit funny that they own a major political "news" channel which tends to go easy on the same political party their parent company is donating money to, all while operating under the banner of being "Fair and Balanced".
There's no major revelation here, but it does make Fox's claims of neutrality ever so slightly more humorous.

What are you talking about? The parent companies of NBC, CBS and ABC all do the same thing. The only difference is they're happily lying to your face about it.

♫ You never cared for me
But did you ever say a prayer for me? ♫

When you pray for us sinners (non-Christofascists), is it an imprecatory prayer? If so, do you know any good witch doctors who can drive out the demonic curse?

(I'm saying all this with God-given certainty that the GOP is the party of Jesus.)
>> ^bobknight33:

Yep Republicans are upfront with their money while the left are so corrupt that they have to hide, launder and shield how they give and receive money.
Thanks Netrunner for showing us the transparency between the parties. Some more please.

Aren't you guys ashamed of your party yet?
