I don't think the inertia of the blades have anything to do with breaking the pin, rather the inertia of the motor/pto continuing to drive the shaft after the blades have seized. Same principle though.

Motor boy gets it wrong on at least two counts:

1) There is absolutely no reason to try to be nice to someone who is texting while in control of a motor vehicle -- they are endangering everyone around them and richly deserve social opprobrium.

I haven't read all the comments so I'm not sure if anyone feels the same as I do. This seems to be a popular video but I also think it's a little much for VideoSift. I'd hate to see this site become a gore site. I see this video was published just about 6 years ago, to my surprise.

I do body recovery, meaning that if there are human remains from motor vehicle crashes, crime scenes, suicides etc, it's my job to pick them up and bag them. My point being that I'm not offended by content like this but, rather it's something that tends to "grow kids up" before they are ready. There is no "NSFK" warning so I think videos like this might be better off at sites that publish this kind of content.

Just my opinion. Anyone else?

I don't see a motor... there is no derailleur because he is riding a fixed-gear bike. you can also tell from the way the back wheel meets the frame (axle hole has wheel insert from back and is tightened to desired chain tension).

He probably avoids pedaling down fast decents for this very reason. rpm gets so high it no longer helps to pedal. I see people on fixies riding up and down mountains in my area, the real impressive part is how they climb UP the mountain in such a big gear.

Been doing some research; story gets stranger; that is apparently a well known racing boat on the Southern California seen. How odd. They should have known better. That might explain somethings though: No motor, that's added weight and no anchor to toss out while they are still in a salvageable if not comfortable situation outside the impact/breaker zone so they could sort stuff out.

Scary video for me; I respect the water.

Huge huge miscalculation on his part here.

Electric motors all have efficiency curves which show the efficiency (power output to power input) relative to the RPMs of the motor. Without addressing that, the rest of this experiment is meaningless. If he tested it on ten different motors he'd come up with ten completely different results.

What he SHOULD have done was to use a motor that he can fix the RPMs, adjust it to the peak efficiency RPMs for each setup and then measure windflow and power consumption. That would give him some numbers he can use.

Seriously though, when I was a very young child my family had a couple of geese that were raised from little goslings. Those suckers would go after pretty much every other living thing that got anywhere near their pond. They'd chase and pinch our dogs, before the dogs learned to stay away from the pond.

They also once guzzled down a huge amount of old motor oil that got left out after an oil change. We figured they were goners, but I guess they just had extra-oily shit for a while, they never showed any ill effects from it.

Yes, one wheel.
Because he has a car with a differential and the other wheel is stationary, all the rotational energy goes to the transmission, clutch, then flywheel, then crankshaft. By putting it in low gear, he gains enough mechanical advantage to spin the motor past top dead center on a cylinder and has enough battery power left to get a spark (i think he doesn't spin it fast enough to generate one), and once one cylinder fires, it spins itself up to proper rpms.
This only works on open diffs, manual transmissions, and smaller, low compression motors. You could never pull hard enough to start a big v8 like this unless your name is Magnus.

Strap a Hayabusa motor to something light and with the right gearing, you'll smoke anything in the 1/8 mile as happened here. Motorcycle engines are great off the line for a number of reasons.

I'm dubious of the claim that is a 1050hp Z06, however. Doesn't move like it has the power, sound like it, and there are no trap speeds given. Just a funny, awesome day at the strip. Hats off.

I'd love to see someone doing doughnuts on the fairway and see if those golf claps turn to cheering.

I used what we called a semi-hemi cut on my racing VW motor. It was pretty close to the Chrysler picture at the end of the wiki page. It's a 1776cc, but I was repeatedly accused of it being a 2180 because of the power it put out. Just a little milling improved the flow immensely.
