CBD: Marijuana Without The High

Yes We Can. Obama stories are shared. What a guy.

enoch says...

@ChaosEngine
never going to happen.
the obama administration has been waging war against whistleblowers for 8 years.prosecuting more whistleblowers using the archaic "espionage act of 1917" to pursue and prosecute more whistleblowers than any other president in americas history COMBINED.

unless there is a massive public outcry to force the executive branch to pardon snowden,it is never going to happen.

but as long as we are making a wishlist to the fairy godmother of shit-that-is-never-going-to-happen,let me add to that list:

1.repeal the NDAA of 2017,which is an addon to the NDAA of 2012,which is a simply continuation of the MCA of 2006 (look em up folks, those "rights" you claim to have are really mere suggestion due to these abominations.

2.pursue and indict ALL wall street players who knowingly engaged in fraud and collapsed the global economy.strip them of all begotten gains to pay back the american people, and throw them in the most vile of maximum prisons (hopefully with a bunkmate nicknamed 'anal destroyer").

3.recind ALL expanded powers that the bush administration enacted (thanks to neocons addington and woo) and which the obama administration actually expanded even further, and NOW trump will be executive over the most powerful executive branch in american history .(this would be a nice one eh?).

4.have the DEA and ATF actually honor obamas original statement that his administration would not pursue federal law in regards to marijuana, mandated by referendums by the citizens of those states (to which he had promptly disregarded, and raided local dispenseries).

5.reduce americas prison population(2.4 million, largest on the planet) by pardoning the non-violent drug offenders, and disallowing companies like nike and apple to abuse prison labor (slave labor).

6.stop the practice of military intervention at the behest of corporations to exploit the poorest and most vulnerable.

7.stop the practice of regime change at the behest..oh this is becoming familiar...corporations wishing to exploit the poorest and most vulnerable for their resources.

8.and could we possibly,maybe..stop with targeted drone strikes? a.k.a "assassinations". how a constitutional law professor reconciles his law pedigree with his "value target tuesday" i.e:murder just boggles my mind.

man,i should stop.my wishlist is becoming to long..and depressing.

i voted this video up because i will not ignore that obama did some good, and even some great things during his presidency, but i also will not ignore his very disturbing failures.

and there are a LOT of disturbing failures.

so i will sit and hold hands and sing kumbaya as we all remember our very smart president, but let us not forget..this very same president expanded an executive branch that trump will be taking over the reigns very soon.

and on that note,i have to give him a failing grade.

officer Izzo-getting fired for challenging a corrupt system

newtboy says...

He seems like a decent person, and decent cop. No wonder he was fired.
I wonder if he actually turned in any fellow officers for inappropriate behavior, or just went after the boss?
It's pretty bad when working to make his department work for the citizens they work for gets him removed from that department. That's the opposite of what they should be doing. That said, demanding your bosses resignation will get you fired from just about anywhere.

Sadly, arresting people over minor infractions and ruining their lives is the job he chose, and not enforcing the law is not accepted, no matter how screwed up the laws are. Because our political system is broken, those laws are getting more and more screwed up constantly. I don't see a workable solution to this dilemma considering how differently we see the law.... for instance, some of us believe minor marijuana possession should end ones freedom and others believe your body and what you do to it are your decisions to make.

SWAT Team Raids "Stash House", Fails Horribly

newtboy says...

Alternate Title: How police willingly create snipers and ambushers.

Tens of thousands of dollars in damages, multiple ruined lives, trauma, fear, ridiculous charges, theft of money, homelessness, and loss of employment all over under a gram of marijuana....and the officer smiles about how he's screwing the guy's life and family up over nothing because 'I just have a job to do and you're caught in the middle of it'.

"The moral of the story is, don't sell drugs to the residents"....yeah, except you found no drugs for sale, so clearly not selling drugs didn't help.
"I can tell you are associated just from what I've seen" by which I can only assume he means his skin color, because they saw no drug sales and found no drugs to associate him with.

I see this as an armed home invasion by the blue gang.

The Sinister Reason Weed is Illegal

entr0py says...

One thing they didn't mention that I'm really not convinced about is how impairing weed is, for how long, and how much it contributes to auto accidents. In recent years there's been a big spike in the proportion of drivers involved in fatal accidents who tested positive for marijuana :

https://www.merryjane.com/news/weed-related-car-accidents-increase-raising-more-questions-about-legal-limit

Of course that doesn't mean it caused the accidents, if people are just smoking twice as much nowadays, even a random sample would show a big increase. But it seems like the research on this is lacking. Does anyone know of any government that has science based guidelines for a sensible blood-pot content limit?

The Sinister Reason Weed is Illegal

newtboy says...

But...it's not illegal....at least not on the West coast.....at least until Trump sicks the DEA on us, that is.

It's been pretty clear for decades that the most dangerous things associated with marijuana are the laws that criminalize it.

John Oliver - Birds

StukaFox says...

A bird pooped on my Subaru there other day. I couldn't do shit about it, either, because the bird was way up in the sky. But his asshole must have been equipped with the Norden Bombsight or something, because it landed a pancake-sized shit right on my windshield. I think it was a seagull or something. I hate those damned things because they steal your fries down on the waterfront and land pancake-sized turds on your Subaru's windshield. John Oliver's right: fuck birds! I'm gonna find out where that seagull lives and take a shit right in its nest! "You eat clams, you feathered fuck? Well here's a CLEVELAND STEAMER for ya!" That'd feel so good, too: ironic revenge at its finest. What? Don't tell me that's not the correct use of ironic, either! I'll climb up on your roof and shit on YOUR Subaru's windshield, then blame it on a seagull. Don't think I won't, either.

Damn I love legal marijuana.

The Quick Hit History of Marijuana

newtboy says...

Oh. I posted a much less interesting video describing the multiple failed attempts to remove marijuana from schedule 1 classification that happened last week, and got 0 views. What's up with that? Is it me? ;-)

John Oliver - The NRA

SDGundamX says...

Man, CDC always seems to take it up the ass. Don't they also have some crazy restrictions on research into marijuana usage as well that prevents any meaningful research from getting done?

Samantha Bee on Orlando - Again? Again.

PlayhousePals says...

Yowza! That wasn't MY experience landing in Auckland from Australia during Little Feat's April 2001 tour. They pulled out ALL the stops from dogs to a selected body search [one of the techs was detained because his glasses case smelled of marijuana!] The St. James Theater and the people we met there were delightful however and the country is absolutely stunning. I'd go back in a heartbeat [after fumigating my clothes and belongings of course] =o)

Slippery slope fallacy.
"If we allow gays to marry, what's next? Can I marry my dog?"

No-one is talking about banning guns. I wouldn't support that myself. I have friends who are hunters and target shooters.

But be reasonable; you can have a gun for target shooting or hunting or even "home defence" (if you're really that paranoid), but you don't need an AR-15 or anything with a high capacity magazine and it's not unreasonable to make sure that people who own guns aren't complete nutjobs.

NZ is in the top 15% of gun ownership rates per capita (22 guns per 100 people), but our average annual firearm homicide rate for the last 30 years or so is ~0.2 deaths per 100k people.

Compare that to the USA. The US tops the chart of gun ownership with 112 guns per 100 people. So the gun ownership rate is 5 times that of NZ, but the average annual firearm homicide rate is 4 deaths per 100k people. That's 20 times the number of murders. Even if you allow for the higher gun ownership rate, you're still 4 times worse than NZ.

And the difference is simple: we have sensible gun ownership laws.

I saw a great post the other day.
"The conservative mind:
Abortions? BAN THEM!
Gay Marriage? BAN IT!
Marijuana? BAN IT!
Guns? eh, banning things never works"

But hey, you're gonna need those guns for when Donary Trumpton ushers in a tyrannical dictatorship. Good luck with that; let me know how you get on with an AR-15 versus a predator drone.

Mordhaus said:

That is not the point. Government works a certain way and rarely is it in the favor of individual liberties. We knee jerked after 9/11 and created the Patriot Act, you know, the set of rules that gave us torture, drone strikes/raids into sovereign nations without their permission, and the NSA checking everything.

If you ban people from one of their constitutional rights because they end up on a government watchlist, then you have set a precedent for further banning. Then next we can torture people in lieu of the 5th amendment because they are on a watchlist (oh wait, we sorta already did that to a couple of us citizens in Guantanamo). The FBI fucked up and removed this guy from surveillance, even though he had ample terrorist cred. That shouldn't have happened, but should we lose our freedom because of their screw up?
