When you get too Swole

President Carter on Trump, Russia, and the Election

newtboy says...

What about me? I do all those things and more. I didn't just change my own brakes, I swapped my own motor. I don't just plow my field, I sow, weed, and harvest that field. I've not only repaired a roof, I've built a few. I know hard work, I was a one man desert racing crew. Now that's hard work, being mechanic, transporter, driver, and pit crew....all at 112 degrees.

So, why don't I love Trump? Because I'm a real conservative....ecologically conservative, fiscally conservative, fact based, socially liberal (the government has no place in my bedroom or my body), and insistent on honesty.

Republicans abandoned conservatism before I could vote.

THEY fear us now like one fears the 100lb ranting sore ridden meth head at the bus stop, not for our strength and resolve, but our dangerous unpredictability and diseases.

BSR said:

But what about his followers? They love him. Not for his money but for his anger. His anger against those pussy dems and anyone else that doesn't know how to change brakes on a car or plow a field or throw sod or repair a roof or work real hard.

Trump might not make them richer but he can punish them there weak snowflakes. Make this country tough again! Make the world submit again! Make 'em all fear us again.

People who annoy you

I can't believe you used the "R-Word" without censoring it even though it's in quotes. You don't want to cross the line that has been drawn or the wall that has been built and use the "R-Word" unless you are an "R-Word"

But then again, being that you used the "R-Word" in it's uncensored form, you just might be an "R-Word". In which case it's ok.

If you're a City Sli*ker, you're out of bounds, son.

Arnold Schwarzenegger gets attacked in South Africa

newtboy says...

I hope they broke both of that little fuckers legs....badly enough that he can never drop kick anyone's back ever again.

Sucker drop kicking a 71 year old in the back, even one built like Conan, means he's abusing the privilege of being able to walk....remove the privilege. He was trying to seriously hurt an elderly man for fun. End him.

I also hope, assuming nothing serious happens to him legally because Arnold isn't pressing charges, that his classmates beat the living shit out of him daily until he's unable to finish school, and his family disowns him.

What a cowardly waste of skin. I wish Arnold (or the guards) had just broken him in half in self defense. There is zero sympathy for anything that happens to people who sucker punch/kick others, or those who attack the elderly, and nothing but seething murderous rage for those who do both.

Nail him to the tree of woe.

Edit: it's being widely reported that the attacker is known for doing this kind of thing looking for internet fame and publicity.

My understanding was they are highly engineered gravel beds that get progressively softer. You don't want it to give maximum resistance at first or it would be like hitting a wall. Of course, that's just the design....how they get built is another thing entirely.

He made it way farther than I expected. I thought he would go <1/3 of the way...maybe it was a heavy load keeping momentum up.

lucky760 said:

Ah, yes. I do recall there was a big "gravel airbag" at the end of those usually. This guy's truck didn't seem to reach that though, just looked like it was rolling backward. Curious.

David Attenborough on how to save the planet

newtboy says...

"In the next few decades"?! More like "a few decades ago".
Perhaps if we had started population control in the 80's with the goal of cutting global population in half by 2000 AND did the rest of what he suggests we might have a chance...we did not.

By the time we understood there was a problem there were less than a few decades left to solve it...that was around 40 years ago, and we've done everything possible to accelerate the damage we do on every front since then.

Ocean acidification is happening today, it's getting worse, it's slow to react to change so will continue to get worse even if humans disappeared tomorrow, it has built in feedback loops that have been triggered like melting methanehydrates and sequestered CO2 that are being released faster every single day, and we are increasing the man made causes every year. There is a point where it reaches critical acidification, the point where diatoms can't form their skeletons, and then the entire ocean system dies. That's far worse than the apocalypse it sounds like, not just because 50-60% of our oxygen comes from the ocean, but also because the rotting biomass creates huge amounts of not just more methane, compounding the greenhouse problem and further acidifying the oceans, but also immense amounts of hydrogen sulfide, which spread as huge poisonous clouds around the globe.
We are on our way to a man made Permian extinction, when >95% of all species went extinct and near 99% of all biomass was lost. We will not survive it as a species....and we don't deserve to.

The World Over

Honest Government Ad | Climate Change Policy

newtboy says...

Who told you that?!
You mean the law that allows some border barriers when they are useful and don't violate other local, federal, or international laws? That did not authorize what's now proposed, and didn't pay for it either.

Btw, you do know he hasn't built a single foot of new wall, right? So far he's barely repaired old fences, but he tells you he's built hundreds of miles of new wall. You deserve to not be lied to. You don't have to sit still for that disrespectful abuse. Call him out when he lies to you. If the wall is really important, why allow him to get away with faking it?

bobknight33 said:

The law to build a wall was passed years ago. Way before Trump came along. Our government never had the balls to fund it. Lip service is all our government is. Trump, love him, hate him is actually doing something about it.

Curious Kangaroo Charges Paraglider

Always look on the bright side of life. No matter fucking what.

Thank you. It means a lot to me.

EDIT:

My idea of putting him behind bars is not to punish him. He ultimately will punish himself. He's already doing it but doesn't realize it. He will have to live in the house he built for himself. Putting him behind bars merely keeps the danger from the innocent.

The Donald’s Border Wall: Who Profits?

newtboy jokingly says...

What do you mean "going up"?
Didn't he say he already built a whole lot of wall...a tremendous amount of wall...now he just needs to finish it?
I don't think you'll find a democrat that wouldn't say he can have what it takes to double the amount of NEW wall he's already built....but double zero is zero.

bobknight33 said:

Another useless story.

Good news is that the wall IS going up after decades of political failings.

The Real National Emergency Is Climate Change: A Closer Look

Mordhaus says...

There are some portions of the GND that could work, how well I don't know, but they could in theory. My biggest issue with it, beyond the more ludicrous parts, is that it doesn't allow for reality.

It is very much like the Soviet 5 year plans in that there are a series of grand ideas but when they fail they would just rehash and move on to the next set of ideas. It's kind of like Trump's promises about the border wall.

Any logical person knew that Mexico was never going to pay for it and that it would probably never be built, but there are a fuckton of illogical people out there and logical people are as vulnerable to mob peer pressure as anyone else. He might even win a repeat term because there is still a huge rift between the more logical conservative Dems and the pie in the sky ultra progressives. Hell, in the confusion its even been mentioned on CNN that Hillary might toss her hat in again or try to lend weight to a conservative Dem nominee so as to 'trump' the progressives.

Your idea sounds fair, but I could only see something like that working in a country like China, where the 'incentives' are that you don't get stood against the wall.

newtboy said:

Fixing and upgrading our crumbling infrastructure could easily create enough of those jobs at least short term, by which I mean one to two decades, to employ every single able bodied American....granted, that's less than 1/3 of us, but would make unemployment rare.

Some countries have tried the free check/minimum income. It turned out to have zero effect on employment, no one decided they shouldn't work and just live on the stipend, it was under $600 a month, but they did find a huge benefit in well being and homelessness.
I don't see a huge difference from social security except age.

That said, I agree, what I've read of this new deal is overreaching pie in the sky dreaming that only made those supporting it seem unrealistic and not serious.

My new deal would trade all these benefits for sterilization after one child. Anyone with two kids pays more and is excluded from benefits, those with 3 or more go to work camps to pay society back for their irresponsibility. Lower the population by 1/2 and solving all these issues becomes exponentially simpler....many solve themselves.

Delaware State Trooper Pulls Gun on Black Man For Speeding

kir_mokum says...

the "good cop v. bad cop" argument is always a red herring. the problem with police isn't what percent is good or what percent is bad. the management and oversight is broken from the top down and nothing is going to change without policy, management, and motivational changes first. the system is set up so good cops are incentivized to be bad cops and bad cops largely thrive. bigotry, violence, corruption, etc, is built into the whole methodology of policing in the US.

BSR said:

You realize you're condemning the good cops for lack of a better answer, right? Why would you steer me or someone else that way?

Pali Highway in Hawaii covered by landslide

newtboy says...

WTF, panzies. Covered by landslide?! That's barely soiled by a bit of mud. Come to Humboldt, we'll show you landslides, the kind where 1/4 mile of road is gone, along with the entire mountain it was built on. This wouldn't even warrant a road crew, somebody would shovel that dust pile off the road within an hour up here.
