The Best Bouncer Fight Ever
I got lazy on the title, that is the video one. The best bar fight I ever saw was outside of a Korean bar in Harker Heights, Texas back in the 90's. I had exited the bar next to it with some friends when we saw the bouncers toss out two elderly Korean gentlemen in full suits. I would guess they were at least 50 or so.
Anyway, once they were outside, the bouncers left and these two guys proceeded to get into a full fledged Tae Kwon Do (or maybe Hap Ki Do, I don't think it was that though because it had a lot of power kicks) fight. I mean they were going at it, and I mean HARD. Much more contact than in any of the TKD matches I had been in at tournaments. After about a minute of not landing a solid hit, they stopped and mutually allowed one another to remove their suit jackets. Then back to the fray. They did get a few kicks in and got a bit bloody, but that is when the bouncers returned, apparently with their WIVES.
Hilarity ensued, because both wives basically glanced at one another and then waded into the fracas. They each started slapping and kicking on their husband, screaming at them. I don't speak Korean, but you could tell by the tone they were dressing them down hardcore. The fight stopped and two bloody, formerly distinguished looking guys looked like a couple of kids who had really torqued off their mom. I was dying off to the side from laughter. I swear if camera phones had existed back then it would have been an instance classic.
Best bouncer fight ever?
You have a low bar for what you consider bar fights. Around here, this is what happens every 10 minutes after 9pm until closing.
It happened before video phones became a thing, but the "Best bouncer fight" I ever watched was between two bouncers from competing clubs hanging out at a third club. Both were over 6'6", both had years of experience in their chosen martial arts, and each was built like a brick shithouse. Epic. Purely Epic.

People Live Here - Rise Against
My God is better than yours
And the walls of my house are so thick
I hear nothing at all
I followed you out in the storm
But it carried you off
And I burned every picture of yours
Was that not enough?
My gun is bigger than yours
So let's arm the masses
And see what the bastards do then
Walking tall once set us apart
Now we're down on all fours
Do you cry my name in the dark
Like I do yours?
These storms are getting stronger now
Trusses all bend and sway
Lightning hits, the power goes out in the fray
As the waves crash high
And the shoreline disappears
I will scream to the sky
"Hey, people live here."
My dreams are not unlike yours
They long for the safety
And break like a glass chandelier
But there's laughter and oh there is love
Just past the edge of our fears
And there's chaos when push comes to shove
But it's music to my ears
May you be in Heaven before the Devil knows you're dead
May these winds be always at your back
'Cause when we're all just ghosts
And the madness overtakes us
We will look at the ashes
And say, "People lived here."
From the penthouse to the holy martyr
Sea to shining sea
From the coffins full of kindergarteners
Is this what you call free?
From the hate that drips from all your crosses
Are your hands so clean?
There's a wildfire and it's spreading far
From sea to shining sea
When we're all just ghosts
And the madness overtakes us
I will scream to the sky, yeah I'll scream to the sky
Yeah I'll scream to the sky
"Hey, people live here."
why uber is a scam
I think it still works if its not the main source of income. For those twenty somethings that take care of their car and need extra cash it is a good thing.
They need to build in tipping and preference.
If you can get higher rated driver when you have an important date or flight to make that would be an improvement.
I don't know if Uber will last and I don't really care.
I am glad they brought the computerized request of rides and payment into the fray.
no respite-ISIS recruitment video-english version
i can agree with this sentiment, but that is not my intention.
i do not know how certain aspects of this particular situation are covered in the media by other news agencies around the world (besides a few i come across from the guardian, and a few others in europe),but here in the states there is pretty much nothing being discussed in regards to the radicalization of citizens.
i think that is a huuuge question:why are citizens of these western countries joining ISIS? why are they packing up everything and heading to syria,or yemen,to fight with ISIS? why are they planning and executing terrorist attacks on their own communities?
we can understand,if not condone, why local people from iraq to syria,to palestine become radicalized, but when it comes to western citizens joining the fray to fight for radical extremists, there really is no discussion.
so in my opinion,i think it prudent to examine the tactics that these radical extremist groups utilize in order to recruit and/or convince people to join their cause.
this video is a good example on how these people have perfected a marketing strategy in order to attract people from around the world.
this is not some shoddy work from some back water group of people.this video reveals a sophistication and cultural savvy that is quite disturbing.
and i think that aspect really needs to be examined a lot more than i am seeing in my countries so-called journalism.
I really do not think that we should be giving this any kind of platform.
Putin Tells Everyone Exactly Who Created ISIS
@dag
Depends on what goals you define Russia as wanting to achieve by that intervention.
Politically, intevening in Ukraine was a huge boon for Putin because his domestic media machine spun it into a irredentist initiative of national pride and basically suffocated his domestic political opposition. Diplomatically or economically, Russia has gained little from its intevention in Georgia, Ukraine and now Syria. If anything it has frayed alliances with Central Asian states and raised tensions with former Soviet Eastern European states, many of which have large minority Russian populations.
If the aim was to act as a bulwark to NATO or stem its expansion, he's preciptated the opposite. Countries neighboring Russia have every reason to fear they'll be next. Not that he had anything real to fear from NATO or the previously proposed anti-missile shield which was really proposed against Iran. I would say Putin's basically acting as a petulant child, throwing Russia's military around to reclaim some kind of atavastic relevance on the international stage to distract his people while he sinks the economy into the ground due to his government's corruption and cronyism.

Flying Kitty Surprise
I'd agree mostly, but if you'll notice, the wings are translucent and the big dark furry shape probably should have been noticed if he had been checking thoroughly.
Also, on a normal plane, wings tend to be full of fuel so internal wing inspections would be problematic at best, and the control arms and cables on an ultralight can certainly get blocked by a foreign body. Personally, the cat being where it was, I would have at least used that opening to check for visible cable fraying and would have most likely found him.
I'd also be looking for damage caused by the rodents the cat was probably hunting for to begin with.

David Letterman's Final Top Ten List
Pretty Funny
Guess Cary's Burning the Candle at Both ends is fraying his sweater.
Dancing at 60FPS is unreal
I'm inferring here, but it might have something to do with the skateboard in the background. During tricks skate shoes will accrue wear on that spot from the sandpaper-like tape on the top of the board. Looks like the painted sole has been worn through to the white-coloured rubber and the black cloth parts in that area have been frayed.
</absurdly detailed shoe examination>
What's up with his left shoe?

In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg
I saw the frayed bow too. Furious. Good stuff.

Epic! mad props to the violinist at 1:53... dude is giving it loads! I love that when they cut back to him a few seconds later you can see his bow is all frayed.
(Mostly) Black Friday Shopping Chaos [Super Cut Compilation]
This is why I only hire the BIG poor people to do my shopping for me. It's really the best option: staying above the fray but still getting all the best deals!
P.S. It's as bad as you expected
and in case you're keeping score...
"My favorite thing about Black Friday is when we upper-middle-class educated people can make fun of all the uneducated poor people at Walmart who stood in line to get discounts on TVs and video games. (My second favorite thing is pretending that we're doing this as a critique of consumerism, rather than as an excuse to express our social superiority.)" --Jason Brennan
Atheist in the Bible Belt outs herself because she is MORAL
@enoch
you honestly think this shitstorm of a "discussion" is a good example of debate and discourse? It started off nice enough but the @shinyblurry web-bot detected the word atheist in its search algorithms and ran its "scripture_dump_#647.bat" script and then insecure @chingalera heard the commotion and decided that enough people weren't paying enough attention to him so he had to enter the fray.
and of course the people who just haven't been around long enough to know how those two operate unwittingly took their bait and assumed that these people were actually genuine and engaged them and viola! instant shitstorm
This has nothing to do with taking offense. You honestly think we ignore people merely because we disagree with them? Fuck that and fuck you for thinking so. We ignore people because we don't think they add anything to the discussion and their posts eventually become noise and distraction.
This has everything to do with people who have no actual interest in the community here and are just here to push an agenda or they're here to agitate people in a non-constructive way.
there is NO debate in this thread, there is NO discourse here. just brick walls and trolling.
@messenger this is EXACTLY why moderation is needed because this thread demonstrates exactly how there is NO self-moderation going on. Things are blowing up now until the next time someone falls for the chigalera/shinyblurry trap and we do this all over again lather rinse repeat and zero progress.
This sift keeps naively assuming that everyone wants to contribute constructively. Not everyone does. Some people are just attention whores. Dissent and offense is fine as long as it can be done constructively and you can at least make a decent argument to back it up. Most of us do that here, but non-insignificant number of us don't And sometimes you have to pull out the weeds.
Not every opinion is equal. You want debate and discourse here? Well there are rules and a structure to that. If you can't back your shit up or you commit blatant logical fallacies or are non-constructive, expect to get your ass kicked. That isn't squashing dissent, that's enforcing a standard.
