Timeline of earthquakes from 1980 to 2012
It's funny, the Christchurch earthquake of Feb 2011 barely registered, yet it was one of the most expensive insurance events in history.
Jon Stewart's 19 Tough Questions for Libertarians!
Just pointing out that I think it's dishonest to be a statist and deride others for being statists, statist.
Thanks for telling me that you fill out a W9, live in LA, and that you're an author; and letting me know that that information is none of my business. How contradictory of you. Statist liberloon.
Although it's fun pointing out you calling the kettle black, it's not necessarily personal grudge. I believe that libertarianism and white-washing of regulations is a bad thing. Look at Pakistan. It's no Somalia in terms of a libertarian paradise, but it's not far off:
http://tribune.com.pk/story/538217/poor-regulation/
^Pakistan is a country riddled with a lack of regulation, yet the poor keep getting poorer there, and the rich keep getting richer.
People who are destitute enough, do have alternatives that are not afforded to them here in the States though, they can sell their organs:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005/feb/10/pakistan.declanwalsh
OH TO BE FREE! to sell your organs...
If you do end up getting sick, you can always turn to the largely unregulated drug industry: http://www.aljazeera.com/video/asia/2012/01/201212775512528261.html
FREEDOM! to produce dangerous drugs on a mass scale... Hey! That's kindof like those kids who died from the polio vaccination that was privately funded and not regulated: http://www.sfgate.com/health/article/When-polio-vaccine-backfired-Tainted-batches-2677525.php
It's kind of like...ohhh I wasn't gonna post this again, but what the heck:
@JiggaJonson, man, you're harboring such personal resentment. It's all so petty and cringeworthy at this point. But, again, your premise is completely ridiculous. And for so many reasons it's hard to list them all here. I also don't believe in the heavy gun restrictions here in Los Angeles, but I'm not about to walk out onto the streets in front of LAPD with an AK-47 slung over my shoulder. By your backwards logic, that means I'm supporting gun control.
Not to mention, Thoreau lived at a different time when it was probably safer to be a tax resister. The fewer interactions with our police state that I can make for myself is probably for the best. Also the Internal Revenue System (a self-proclaimed tax law enforcement agency) wasn't formed until the exact year Thoreau died. Fact. Look it up.
I'm fairly certain Thoreau didn't have to submit a W9 to work as an author. I, on the other hand, do. And the 16th Amendment, the one responsible for Congress's ability to levy income tax, wasn't even ratified until over forty years after his death. And so forth and so on, etc. etc. boring conversation and blah blah.
Plus my personal life is none of your business. So you're just really talking out your ass and comparing apples to oranges here. I really hope you can find happiness in your life and move past being so bitter.
Bill Burr Teaches Elijah Wood How To Kill
"This stuff just does not happen"
Wake up. Spend 2 minutes looking for reports by the Toronto Star, CBC and the Globe and Mail and you'll realize it does. An issue in Canada is that if you wish to protect yourself, and use a gun, chances are better that the victim will suffer the wrath of Canadian justice.

Why can't Canadians defend themselves in their own homes? - Abubakir Kasim, Nov 6, 2012
It happens in Canada dude. Take a look around.
I almost want to invoke *regio n... This is totally nuts. Seriously, is this what people in America worry about? Is this... possible? I guess these are plausible scenarios but in Canada... this stuff just does not happen...

She may be happy to know that Wits End comedy club closed on Feb 16th this year.
So in the end, her career outlived the audience that rejected her.
CNN Sympathizes with High School Rapists
Just throwing this in. Norway has one of the most liberal attitudes towards prisoners in the world:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2013/feb/25/norwegian-prison-inmates-treated-like-people?INTCMP=SRCH
Aside from having one of the lowest prison populations anywhere (as a percentage) it's re-offending rate is less than half that of the US.

Must have been a shallow one
Imagine an 8+ sized.
No thanks ... been in a couple nearing 7.0 that's enough for me =o(
Which ones and where? The biggest and closest was near L.A. of 6.1 IIRC. As a callow, I just left my ant nest with my queen ant and was walking to my school bus pickup spot. I didn't feel it at first until my queen told me to stop and things were shaking. I saw windows were shaking/vibrating and stuff. Scary! My first (earth)quake ever in my life!
A 6.5 and a 6.8 ... both in Seattle. My first experience occurred as I was walking through a park on my way to grade school one spring morning. It struck me as odd that there were no birds to be seen [or heard]. A few minutes later I was standing on the playfield, waiting for school to begin, when I noticed a series of rolling waves in the asphalt heading toward me. Then came a deafening rumble as I watched chimney's collapse off several houses across the street. Two story high windows behind me were bowing in and out as the cleaners fell off the scaffolding. I was barely able to keep my footing. Our school was the only one in the neighborhood that remained open that day. It had been rebuilt after it had been destroyed in a 7.1 shaker back in 1949 [before my time]. Scary stuff indeed!
Wow, I remember seeing/hearing the big quake in Seattle a few years ago. Are/Were you still up there and felt that one?
More than a few years ... I think you are referring to the 6.8 on feb 28, 2001. I was asleep ... it jolted awake. Two of my neighbors lost their chimney's in that one. No damage to my house, just some pictures tilted and the contents of one display shelf were thrown across the room. I shoulda clued in that something was up when my cat wouldn't come in to sleep with me [which was highly unusual]. He ended up running to the basement and would not come out from behind the furnace for three days =o(

Letterman: Don't vote Romney unless he does the Late Show
>> ^Trancecoach:
>Hmm.. Mitt did the Late Show March, 2010 and Feb, 2011.
You think Letterman forgot? He is getting pretty old. Or do you think he means during this election season, especially after Obama has come on. Or is he just making a joke...tough to tell with these comedians.
