Pete Buttigieg Perfectly Articulates Republican Behavior

Paragraphs please. I can barely find the next line down. I'm old ya know. I can't hold my breath that long.

This is all I see:

I will not tolerate this.

Go back to your desk and bring it back when you're done and then I'll read it.

Less well known [than other paradoxes] is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.—In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.

hahahahahaha. if thats a standard, then yea... Goodbye clutch plate.

I do not feel bad for this guy, as he seems one of those people who go out buys an expensive object and has no clue how to use it. When you are doing a brake stand you generally hear squealing etc. from the driven tires. This is just sad that he kept on going with it.

Way to fuck your car up nerd. ( )

Sex with a giantess at the end of the world .

Wow, looks boring as hell. And WTF is is a giant-ess? Are feminists so sensitive that they've created a new word to distinguish female giants from male ones?

Yes. They also went back in time and invented words like Duchess, Countess, Princess, Goddess, and Lioness. They also killed that dog you loved when you were 6 years old.

5200 Pentagon Employees PURCHASED Child Pornography!

entr0py says...

>> ^Mandtis:

"Approximately 23,000 military and civilian employees[3] and about 3,000 non-defense support personnel work in the Pentagon."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pentagon
5200 out of about 26000...?? Not a chance I can believe that.

Well, every single word of the title is inaccurate or misleading. It's mind boggling really. The title is taken directly from MoxNews' post, so I don't blame gwiz. But let me try to make a clear list of everything wrong with the title.

1. "5200" - That was the complete number of names/e-mail addresses swept up under ICE project flicker. This was not an investigation into the DoD, but they came across several e-mail addresses that obviously belonged to the DoD. The Pentagon's investigative branch (DCIS) was informed of this and for some reason they checked only 3500 of those names, and of those 3500 found 264 DoD employees.

2. "Pentagon Employees" - No, they were investigating Department of Defense Employees and Contractors, the Pentagon is only one small part of the DoD. The DoD includes Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, DARPA, DIA, NSA, ect. According to Wikipedia there were over 2 million DoD employees in 2009. Plus an unknown number of contractors who are not counted as employees. Coup mentions that Contractors were part of the DCIS investigation at 1:08. So if DCIS did cross check the names against all DoD employees and Contractors, we're talking about basically the entire US Military Industrial Complex. "Pentagon employees" might be 1% of that.

3. "PURCHASED Child Pornography!" - 264 are the number of suspects who were employees or contractors of the DoD. You cannot assume that every suspect is guilty until proven innocent. Coup mentioned that fewer than 20% of them were fully investigated (so less than 52 people). He goes on to say "fewer still were prosecuted", and doesn't mention the total number found guilty.

I agree it's an outrage that they stopped the investigation before looking at the entire list, or completely investigating all of the matches. And it's good to see CNN putting pressure on them to reopen the investigation. But this MoxNews fellow is either completely unscrupulous in spreading misinformation to get views, or just not very smart.

Chris Dudley Fights Oregon's Elite Waitress Class

Sagemind says...

As well...,
(using the example at the bottom from the post on YouTube)

If someone's wage is 30% wage and 60-70% Tips, brings up their income level to a decent level, they no longer make minimum wage.

1). The government is getting shafted on the income tax (someone call the IRS)
2). I say: pay the servers the proper wage they deserve, cut out the mandatory tip and raise the food prices to compensate.

This way, the servers get paid a fair wage, the customer isn't forced to tip for bad service and the people pay taxes based on their income true levels so they start paying like the rest of society.
The servers still get the option to be tipped above and beyond, only now they have to work for it.

Also on that note, I'm not sure how this works in the US, but here in Western Canada, all tips go into a single jar and get divided equally amongst the entire server/kitchen staff at the end of each night.

QUOTES FROM YOUTUBE:
"when I was a server I pocketed $100 per 6hour shift on average, plus my hourly wage. So when you look at it 2 dollars an hour I am still pulling in 112 dollars for 6 hours of work that's not to shabby." - nicholaswells

"Thank you for giving us a real life example, Nicholas. $112/6 hours = $18.67 per hour. I encourage anyone who wants to heartily disagree with Dudley on this issue, but I am sick of hearing that waiter/esses make minimum wage; they do NOT. I recall my days in high school when the girls held the waitress jobs at our national chain pizza restaurant. I made $3.50/hour; they made $9/hour ($2 from the employer.) They did NOT received minimum wage--I did. - euroboardgames "

What new channel would you like to see? (User Poll by Throbbin)

kronosposeidon says...

@Throbbin: These are all rocket-testing videos:

http://videosift.com/video/Plasma-Rocket-Testing
http://videosift.com/video/Ares-Rocket-Test-Fire-At-Corrine-Utah-9-10-09
http://videosift.com/video/Nasa-methane-gas-engine-test
http://videosift.com/search?q=rocket+test

That's mega-combustion in all cases. Would they fit, yes or no? And like I said, cars have internal combustion engines. There are mini-explosions genuinely taking place inside of each cylinder in them. Now you might think it wouldn't come up, but I guarantee you, sooner or later it would. Like in the case of this video:

http://videosift.com/video/Actual-footage-from-inside-a-4-stroke-engine-Wow-cool

So if that were added, then one might legitimately claim that anything involving engines would be kosher for the Combustion channel. So it's not as common-sense as you might think.

Look, people sometimes debate shit about what belongs in all of these channels:

Femme
Lies
Terrible
Viral
Sexuality
Eia

And others. So is it so terrible to ask for clarification, or to even suggest that maybe a combustion channel might be too broad?

And the last part of my comment is tongue-in-cheek, esse. It was meant to show that I'm not being overly serious about anything. I trust that most sifters would understand that - you may not.

Amazing and Unbeliavably Realistic Projections on Buildings

Thanks man.

Yeah I was kinda in disbelief myself about this being real, I assumed the light moving behind the columns was simply a clever visual trick based on precise measurements of the structure but the light shining off the side of the building definitely looks like bee-ess.
